Recently redone and opened. Decor is pleasant. There is a very expansive menu. It's typical AmeriMexican fare, very well executed. We were seated quickly and brought chips and drinks. I ordered the Burrito Bandera, very nice with chicken, steak and chorizo covered with red, white, and green sauce, à la the Mexican flag. Nice rice and salad with avocado on the side. Nobody speaks English and I did not get my bacon. I didn't care for the half plate of fruit. Prices are geared for the chain 'o lakes crowd. No cream on the table nor did he bring syrup out and didn't come out to check on us after he delivered our food. They need bigger coffee cups. read more

I have tried to use a gift card here twice. First time I was told card was no good. Then I called and checked balance on card. It is valued at 40.00. On the second visit I showed them the information for the card balance and was told to bad. The owner is not here. Very shady business practices. Food was mediocre and the server was rude. I went to Los Jaripeos for dinner this evening and I have to say I was very disappointed. The sea food burrito I ordered was free of amy kind of seafood .. I had 1 shrimp in the first one and 0 in the second. I have never been so disappointed in my life. When I mentioned it the plate got taken away and that was all. I wasn'teven acknowledged . Always heard mixed reviews for this place, but went here for dinner for the first time and was impressed! The shredded chicken tacos were amazing, the burrito and tamale my bf had were good, and the margaritas are the best ones I've ever had! While my wife is not a huge fan of Mexican cuisine, she does love a good margarita!. We visited Los Jaripeos on a Tuesday for 2 for 1. I enjoyed my meal and my wife found several dishes she thought she would like...turns out she found one she loved. While the service wasn't super fast, we were seated in an appropriate amount of time for the amount customers in attendance. The service was very friendly, took our orders in a good manner, and had our meals to us fairly soon. I don't expect a restaurant to rush orders, it isn't fast food. I would recommend this restaurant and staff to anyone. I am probably taking some out of town family members there tonight. read more

Food was awful! They have fish tacos on the menu, one made with Haddock and one with Mahi Mahi. I ordered the Haddock ones and waiter was confused. Said he wasn't familiar with the Haddock, so I said I'll have the Mahi. Came and the fish was dry and very fishy tasting. Tacos had a little red cabbage in top and a side of mango salsa. Food was okay. My wife's grilled shrimp dinner was served without the vegetables, so we waited for them to catch up. Then the veggies were kind of mushy. We think frozen veggies that were boiled. Pictured is my burrito, which was okay. The cheese sauce wasn't very cheesy, but the meat tasted good and I had no problem with the sautéed veggies. All-in-all, it was okay, but the prices are way too high for the quality and level of service that you're getting. We're from Green Bay, and I'm not hometown-bragging when I say we have the same decor, much lower prices, and better tasting food at a lot of our Mexican restaurants. Just stating facts. That's not to say that Oshkosh doesn't have better Mexican restaurants; this was just our first time visiting. I would eat at Jaripeos again if the prices were lower, but I don't think it would make enough of a difference for my wife. read more

Finally tried this place after visiting son at college several times. Keep in mind it was 3:40 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, and we were the only people eating there. Waitress was extremely friendly, and the food was delicious! Shredded chicken quesadilla with beans, Chimichanga with chunks of beef, steak tacos (Mexican style, and if you like it spicy (ME), must try the grilled chicken Habanero enchiladas. We ordered 3 items via take out from this restaurant; enchiladas sante fe, and 2 appetizers which were bean dip and queso. The total was $35 for these 3 items. We only received the enchiladas and bean dip, and when I called to ask for a credit/refund due to the forgotten queso my teenager wanted, the woman who took my order and answered the phone told me that the owner of the restaurant "packed the bag himself" and accused me of lying. They refused to give me a credit for the food I paid for and did not receive. The 2 items I paid for were small portions and nowhere near worth $35. I was the only customer at 4:30 on a Monday. I sat down at the bar and was ignored by 2 employees watching TV (a simple hello we will be right with you would have been nice). The house margarita was not good. When asked if I wanted anything else I said a water and my check. Neither arrived. When my friend showed up we sat for at least 15 minutes without anyone asking if we wanted a table. We finally sat ourselves and were ignored again. Eventually we ordered the cheese dip which seemed more like a runny bowl of milk (when we said something to the waitress she said you never know what you are going to get). The quesadilla looked like a burrito. All in all a bad experience. I recommend getting Mexican food anywhere else. read more

We love food. And we love tacos. We're not picky. The service was slow and uninspired. There wasn't even a drop of soap in the ladies bathroom. The lime margarita tasted like the frozen bucket my dad used to get from Woodmans. And the food, in my boyfriend's words, was slimy. Also rather pricey compared to other places we enjoy, such as Solea in Menasha. We won't be going back unless they go through an overhaul. read more

First time hear, the first thing I notice is the shocking bright colars. The chips are awful. Servers are friendly but some customers might struggle with a language barrier. We have been to Los Jaripos quite frequently since they opened. We have always been impressed with the consistency of the experience, quality of the food, the quaintness of the "American style Mexican restaurant", and the overall crisp cleanliness. The jalapeño "Taco truck" sauce is to die for. The traditional salsas are savory as well. M's fave is the cancan burrito, mine is the chili Colorado. The carnitas, chili verde, chicken soft tacos, and chicken quesadilla are also spot on. Enjoy, visit frequently, and pass it on. read more

I felt welcomed when I walked in and my waiter answered my questions and I didn't feel rushed at all. I enjoyed my meal but I wouldn't say it was a standout to recommend. However my table wobbled and I wonder if all the tables are full just how noisy it would be. When I was paying for my meal I was never asked how my meal was, invited back or even smiled at. Will I go back. Most likely after it has been open longer. However if the same type of send off is given next time I will rethink which Mexican restaurant I will visit and this may be way down on the list. read more

Lara's was much better. They should have worked on the food as much as the décor when they redid the place. Stopped in for lunch with my 85 year old mother. She used to love Lara's Tortilla Flats. Service was good, but got the drink order wrong. Both drinks. We had two different kinds of margaritas, and ended up with the exact same kind. Food was bland. My chicken, (canned?), was tough and flavorless in my burrito. Chips and salsa were nothing special. The more I think about it...I don't think much is made from scratch...like Lara's. We both agree, sadly, that we won't be back anytime soon. Other Mexican restaurants to try or retry. Someone should get Ana back to get another restaurant going. worst service i've ever had. waited 10 minutes for menus after being seated. waited another 15 minutes for water. received our drinks before the menus. then we received our drinks blended when we asked for on the rocks. when asked for my paloma to be remade without a rim the server said "why" and walked away. i proceeded to ask another server and they brought back the same drink with the rim just wiped off, i knew because the same line i squeezed before was still in the drink and it tasted like water and tajin. i ordered the huevos con chorizo and was told i could not do eggs with chorizo on the side ????????? and after i payed and was walking out past the host stand the servers were laughing and making comments as i was walking out. honestly confusing and disgusting will not be returning read more

There was only one couple sitting down when I showed up with my family, there were two employees but they didn't even acknowledge us, so we sat ourselves and waited about 10 minutes before one of them brought us menus. Would give no stars if possible. First off, when I asked for a booth, the host asked if I was sure. I know I am overweight. I asked because I was sure Mr. Incompetent. Once at the booth, it jiggled from the children whom were sitting on the other side of it. What we ordered was not made to what the menu specified. We were also charged for the missing items that the menu said came with. Waiter did not know the menu. Three separate trips for missing items alltogether. The nachos that had the restaraunts namesake in its title were soup-like in nature. My partners tacos came on cold flour tortillas with only the meat and nothing else. Waiter was arguementative about the said missing items (three trips). Later apoun checking in with my partner I found these tacos gave her diarrhea. But when I confronted the hostess about this negative experience she smiled and bordered on laughing. That is when a different waiter walked up to her and she began saying offensive things about me and my partner in spanish. Thats when I became very uncomfortable, lost my cool, and jus wanted to leave.. so I paid my bill in full and left. read more
