Jefe's homemade chips are some of the best I've ever had. They are thicker than the usual chips and we paired them with yummy guac. I wish they sold these chips as a to-go bagged item because we would stop in there on a regular basis to pick up those chips over store-bought chips any day! The ambience is fun and hip. They were playing old-school hip-hop which we enjoyed. There is outside seating available In front of the restaurant. There is free street parking. Our waitress, server and host were very friendly. We waited a little bit longer than expected for our checks to be picked up. The food was delicious. I ordered the lunch combo which includes your choice of taco, enchilada or chile relleno. The combo comes with rice and beans. I ordered one of my favorites - the delicious mango shrimp taco. There are tacos in unusual flavors and they are relatively inexpensive ranging from $4.50 - $5 each. My drink was the horchata. I usually order the spiked horchata which is so tasty! My friend enjoyed the Grande Salad. We love all of the restaurants that are a part of this restaurant family - the ones in Longmont are Swaylo's Tiki, The Roost and 99 Saloon. read more

We love Jefe's! Have been there many times. Good food and service is always excellent. BUT. Since the revamp, the center section with the four high tops near the kitchen is probably one of the worst placed set of tables I've ever been at. I kept having to tell my husband "elbows in!" Because the amount of traffic passing by on either side of us was constant and I was worried he'd knock food out of a waiters hand. And the traffic was... constant and jarring. Which is fine, it's a busy place. But because of how and where these tables are placed you just kind of feel like you're standing in the middle of a highway. We'll be back! I just know now to ask for literally any other table. read more

We were told there would be a 30 minute wait. At 30 minutes we checked in and the were told 5 more minutes. We continued to check in every 5 minutes and were told we were next. We saw several parties come in after us told 30 minute wait and then sat before us as we continued to wait. Nothing was done to accommodate us besides being told we were next to not be next. We waited well over an hour and were ignored and all that was said was sorry. Terrible customer service by the hostesses and terrible experience over all. SUPER Amazing Staff!!! First time back since the reboot. Energy was a clean and refreshing reminder of the original jefes. Staff is always peaceful and inviting.... Slightly concerned about the food, though!!!! Tacos were disappointingly soggy, and disintegrated in our hands.. The crispy Chili Rellonos was far from crispy and FAR from Rellenos.... so many amazing choices in Longmont. We stopped in on a whim while driving past. WOW!! Best Mexican food that I have had anywhere. I thought my place in Florida had great Taco Birrias, but Jefe's are the BEST! Friends of ours in Boulder introduced us to Jefe's, & then when we moved up closer to Longmont, it became a regular spot for us. It was a real "shot in the arm" during the pandemic, when they still did take-out! The food seems good & fresh, & my favorite, the fish tacos, are yummy. If you're a vegetarian, you'll find plenty to eat, too. Sitting at the bar for a quicker meal is cool -- & the bartender has been amazing about helping me to get the right "alchemical" mix for my Coin-style marg. Rip Off unless you are looking for Overpriced Food & Drinks with Poor service. Jefe's is more concerned about looks & "vibe" than anything else ot seems. Food: We tried 5 different tacos. They tasted OK, nothing wrong but for the $4 / $4.50 they were nothing special. They looked nearly the same (amount of meat) as the $2.50 street tacos we saw others eating. The smothered burrito was pretty good but totally overpriced... $14 for a burrito that was average size without any sides (no beans, rice, salad, etc). More like an $8 item, $10 with sides. $9 for a coconut margarita the size of a thimble (see photo)! Could not taste the tequila either. It was very sweet, and actually pretty good flavor but that is WAY overpriced. There was 3 to 4oz of total liquid in that glass considering the ice filled most of it. Service : 3 of us received our food while my 7 yr old's kids bean & cheese burrito was not delivered. The server never came by to check on us. We had to get her attention and then it took another 10 minutes to get the food. We had to eat VERY slowly so we could have some food left when the kids meal came. Fun place with great energy and a cool vibe and music. We waited a bit for a table. When we'd been waiting longer than what we were told, we asked the hostess how much longer. It was obvious she forgot about us but we were immediately seated. Our server was Caitlen. She was friendly, personable, energetic and hard working. She was busy but still managed to give us great service. We started with the queso. The chips were fresh and nicely salted. The queso was creamy and seasoned well. I had the asada burrito. The buritto was huge. While it was very tasty, the asada steak tasted more like and the meat had more of the consistency of pot roast. All the food was fresh, easoned well, and timely served. I stopped in here for lunch and grabbed a taco plate. Very tasty! I had a birria taco, a chorizo taco with an over easy egg, and a bacon wrapped jalepeno popper taco with corn. The spicy jalepeno was my favorite, but they were all quite good. The vegan black beans I had as a side were nice, too. At about $4-$5 a taco, I felt it was a reasonable value as they were good quality tacos. The server was friendly and prompt, and the restaurant is clean and has fun decor. We were a large party, it was about 12 of us, and they accommodated us as best they could. Their house made Orchata drink was out of this world delicious. I love that there's options here for everyone, vegan, pescatarian, whatever; they've got you. Their guacamole is incredible, and they're not stingy with the portion size. I don't understand how this doesn't have a 5/5! I LOVE this spot. Anytime people ask me for recommendations for food in Longmont, Jefe's is always on my list. Their tacos are phenomenal. The Buffalo cauli and the pork taco are my fave. I also love the queso and chips and the carne asada fries! The coconut Margarita is literally sent from heaven. This is my favorite cocktail I have EVER had. It is so creamy and toasty and delicious. I have never had one like it. They also have the best atmosphere. Tons of tables outside. The inside is super cute with fun decor and lots of fun colors. The staff is so nice and does a wonderful job. There is always a line here especially in weekends. So be prepared for a wait! They have a ton of truly gluten free, Celiac safe, options on the menu, including the most amazing fried fish tacos that are battered in rice flour and fried in a dedicated gluten free fryer. Jefes was so good! Lots of vegan options. First, straight up vegan options are marked on the menu as such. Examples are the escabeche (house-pickled jicama, carrot, jalapeño & onion) or chips + guac or salsa. Second, many of their tacos and burritos can be made vegan with a choice of vegetable (squash, cauliflower, avocado). We had the street tacos with squash and The Legend burrito with the cauliflower (no cheese). Any burrito can also be turned into a chimichanga (fried up and topped with guacamole & pico de gallo). Best choice we made. It was like a big burrito wonton. The cauliflower/guac/refried beans combination was great, and honestly I keep on thinking about when I can have it again. The dessert menu had a vegan option of mango sorbet with compote and chile spices. I wasn't that excited for it, but the combination of sweet mango sorbet, with the fruit and spicy chili was surprisingly good. Some other notes: - the escabeche is a bit spicy, be aware - had a pitcher of cucumber marg. It was just okay. Really really like this place. The guac is always really good, and I haven't had a taco I didn't like, but the carnitas, birria, and seared ahi are my favorites. The drinks are also awesome, haven't had a bad marg here. I think the only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is the pricing. The tacos themselves aren't terrible but if you're getting chips and dip, 3 tacos, and rice and beans it adds up really quick. I wish they had a 2 or 3 taco plate with rice and beans as an option instead of it all being a la carte. They do a really good happy hour though, so would highly recommend checking it out. read more

Came here with the family for an early dinner on Sunday. Place seemed pretty popular with a good atmosphere. We were seated pretty quickly, and the waitress took maybe 5 mins to get over to us for initial contact which was fine given the busyness of the time. We ordered the avocado egg rolls and the Quadro chips and dips. Thought the egg rolls were kind of bland, chips are on the thicker side, there salsa and guacamole was great, the queso was ok but nothing fancy, and the refried beans seemed to a popular at the table so I assume that was good (I didn't have any not my thing). As the for entrees I had 3 tacos and boom fries. The Buffalo chick taco taste like your standard fried chicken tender with franks hot sauce, the chorizo and egg one was ok, but my favorite was the crab cake taco. My father in law had a chorizo egg burrito which was really big portion size. Everyone seemed to like their food, I must also say the server did a great job bringing drinks without asking and even got us extra pineapple for our son who is a picky eater. Overall this is more of a bar scene than family sit down restaurant but is good for what it is. If you want drinks and tacos this is probably a place to try if your in the area. read more

Great food and service! We came here to celebrate a friends birthday and they were running late so we enjoyed some drinks and appetizers while we waited. Everything was great! The Guava margarita was really good and strong! The bacon wrapped jalapeños were spicy. My only complaint is that the smothered fries used to come on a sheet pan, which kept them crispy and even covered in toppings. This time they were in a deep bowl which made everything soggy and hard to portion. The steak was also questionable. This was our favorite appetizer here, so it was sad to see it changed!
