If you're looking for great food and even better vibes, Summit Taco is where it's at. The staff here? Absolutely hilarious--like, actually funny, not just "restaurant friendly" funny. These people are a whole experience on their own. They take care of you like you're part of the crew. You walk in once, and they remember you. The a la carte tacos I had were excellent! Two types of salsa to try (tomatillo and a smoky red chile). They have alcohol AND non-alcoholic versions of many popular brands (Coronoa, Lagunitas...). The staff were friendly and informative! The Latin-X music was fun, when generally I don't really like Mexican music that much. There's a patio outside, and 6 indoor tables too. I will come again! Guy who works the front counter is EXTREMELY rude. As others have commented here as well, he is always yelling at people to get out of the doorway.. even went as far as yelling at my dad who is crippled (visibly with a cane and a hard time staying upright) as he was trying literally to walk through the door. I've also seen him yell at parents that their kids can't be playing outside. The food is good, but this guy seriously sucks! I managed a restaurant for several years and would never keep an employee like him around.. he's rude at the counter when you're ordering too. Just yes!!! I was told summit used to be a food truck but bought a house & renovated it turning into a restaurant! Not sure how true that is but you need to go here. On Tuesday's (and during happy hour daily) they have 4 tacos and a beer for $10.40, need I say more? The tacos are phenomenal and there are plenty of options to satisfy everyone. What a fun and funky little find! This place was recommended by locals we were visiting family from out of state. We ordered street tacos and the pamboza which came with pozole a hot spicy soup. The outdoor front patio is comfortable, mostly under trees, and there's a large outdoor area in the back that's a great place for a party with tents or umbrellas and trees to provide shading for summer. Most excellent vegan nopalitos tacos! Jamaica was homemade, with perfect balance of sweet and tart. Meat eaters had an abundance to choose from. Everything was fresh. We had taco plates--we had them pick a variety of tacos for us and they were all fantastic, and we all demolished our plates. The sides and vegetable pickles are a delight. I especially loved the tomatillo salsa. The real highlight for me was the esquites (street corn): smoky, spicy and creamy, a perfect blend of flavors. I'd have licked the bowl but that would have been rude. It reheats well if you have leftovers. My daughter had a quesadilla which isn't spicy and makes for a great kids meal. This place has some great flavors!!! I had all their vegetarian offerings and would definitely recommend them. Its been on my food in Longmont to try list for a year now. The tacos were seasoned so well I did not even need their salsa to go on them. I tried the cactus, poblano and potato (without chorizo) tacos and enjoyed them. I will say though, I really do NOT like cactus or poblano as vegetarian options. I have this aversion to soft wet vegetables that just kills my joy. However I tried it anyway and enjoyed the flavor if not the texture. Their street corn appetizer/side and guacamole are also so so so good. If anything will make me come back for more its their street corn. Without having any other vegetarian options though I will not be coming back (except once and awhile for the corn). I really wish they would offer a cauliflower or street corn taco or quesadilla. Then I would come back. I will always recommend them even if I don't see myself as a repeat customer. My meat eating local friends really love their meat offerings and if the flavor is so good on the vegetarian I know its going to be popping on the meat. Good vibes here and great food! Yes the music is a bit loud but it's lively and in the spirit. It gives the place extra character. Best Mexican I have had in a long while. We had the Pambazo, Enchiladas de Mole Rojo and the cheese quesadillas from the kids menu. Sometimes my son leaves leftovers when we eat out. Not this time! He ate everything. Food ok. Host/order taker at front VERY rude. Not going back because of the service. Went to see a band. After having difficulty finding a parking space on the surrounding busy street, my friend and I had just arrived and started to stand in line. Walked in door to assess what we needed to do having never been there before. Small area to order in. There were also other customers in line so we stood close to where we came in, out of way if someome were to need to get by, in the very small room which meant part way in the entrance. As we started to review the menu, it was less than 10 seconds before we were rather harshly and equally as rude, told to "get out of the doorway and quit blocking the entrance". What? Ok. Sure. Sorry! Geez. Already angry at the service within 30 seconds of arriving, we squeezed ourselves into line behind the people already occupying the very small space. When we got to the front and started to order, we were again RUDELY addresses, as well as being interrupted, and abrasively asked, " are you here for band or eating somewhere else in establishment?" We said we were there for band...His response was to advise us that it would be better if we got out of line, even though we were at the main ordering spot for the place and had waited in line already and were ready to order NOW, to go around back to order because it would "take longer ordering up front AND that it would take too long for them to find us and bring our order" if we ordered right where we were. What? After waiting in line, you tell us to go in back to stand in another LONGER line. In a yard with less than 10-15 tables? Some of which were empty and others seating only 2 people? You wouldnt be able to find us to serve us with 20 people and a buzzer??? So, we shifted to back to stand in line. We are here to support the band and the cause, after all. Again. Waited another 10-15 min in line to order, get a buzzer, and proceed to wait more! I ordered two street tacos, mind you. Seemed like 20 minutes before got our order. For two of us. Small plates. SUPER SLOW service. Small beer selection. With such a bad taste for way was treated at front, made to wait 2x in line, and poorly setup process if they cant find you among the 10 tables in the yard, the food could not make up for it. Not going back. Or at least not until they make some MAJOR improvements on their service side. We have friends in bands we like to support so hope Summit Tacos chooses to make a better impression if I ever decide to cross their threshold again! read more
