Bryan went WAY above and beyond to make sure he put the correct system in my house and he nailed it. BTW, I am in Richmond, VA. For some reason Yelp is saying I'm in Nags Head lol. My house has a Unico system in it (those of you familiar with it may know how challenging and difficult these systems can be) and it has NEVER worked correctly. I replaced the original heat pump once before and, when the second heat pump died, I was looking for someone who could figure out what I should replace it with. It turns out that, since there have been refrigerant changes, I would need to replace the entire system (heat pump and Unico air handler/furnace). I received one quote essentially just replacing what I already had. That company didn't do too much research and gave me a quote (this is similar to what I had experienced with my last heat pump replacement). I was about to move forward with that company and then thought I should get a second opinion. My friend told me about Bryan and RVA Heating & Cooling and raved about how good he is. Well, he wasn't wrong and I am so happy I didn't go with the other company. Bryan came in and actually figured out the system. He spent time researching and talking to Unico to figure out how to make the system work correctly. In fact, he was able to get Unico to sign off on what size Unico system to use and what heat pump to pair with it. In doing this, it doubled the warranty I would have received otherwise. Another benefit of talking to Unico was that they were able to tell Bryan exactly why the old system wasn't working correctly. It turns out that the ducts weren't set up correctly and that the old system was undersized for the house. The drawback was that Bryan was now going to have to replace the main duct coming off of the air handler and fix some of the other ducts as well. Good thing Bryan is a master at ductwork. In fact, he used to have a company called Bryan's Ducts (I think that is right). What better person to have fix the ducts that someone who actually owned a duct company lol. Bryan had to do much more work that initially expected, but he made sure the system was PERFECT. Here's the kicker, I got a fully replaced air handler, brand new top of the line Trane inverter cold weather heat pump, and new ductwork for essentially the same price I would've paid the other company to put in the same inferior system I had before (cheap heat pump, the wrong size air handler, no ductwork, and no extended warranty). The HVAC system has NEVER worked as well as it does now. I mean it's kinda mind blowing given that I've been in this house for 22 years. You will not go wrong with RVA Heating & Cooling. Don't even bother with contacting the "big guys" around town. All they're going to do is rip you off (believe me, I've been there). I'll happily go with a smaller company that treats you fairly and actually cares about their work. RVA Heating & Cooling is BY FAR the best HVAC company I've worked with. If you need work done, don't think twice and just call Bryan.

I can't help but first say that this company is now (and forever) my go to people when it comes to our HVAC (and what they are able product and services they offer). I had gotten the referral from my boss and decided to go ahead and get my ticket in. I EMAILed them and they responded back within (or even less than) 30 minutes! Elizabeth was so helpful and friendly with my situation on the furnace and told me that one of their guys would be available to check it out and to give us an estimate of what their service would be to replace it. They were very accommodating with my schedule because I wasn't going to be available until after 3pm that day. Jesse was the person who came and checked out our "broken" furnace and to give us an estimate. Their communication was wonderful, Jesse texted me when he was 10 mins away. I was so sure our furnace was broken because we had two diagnostic done on the furnace to confirm that it was INDEED...broken. I told Jesse of our situation and what the results of the last two reviews. I s*** you not....he fixed it. We had freaking heat for the evening and the following week. Our gas furnace is about 20 years old and was told by two other companies that it was broken and needed to be fixed and maybe even the AC too! Jesse was so helpful explaining to me of what he found and fixed (and I actually understood him! haha). He was so professional and so helpful in our situation. Long review short - because of our furnace breaking down the first time and that we have an 8 month old, we decided to get it replaced. Both Elizabeth and Jesse from the company had great communications in helping us set up a date and answering any other questions that we may have had. We seriously got very lucky with finding these wonderful people and company. Anyways, they gave us a date and time. (Helped me out and) showed up earlier than expected to get started on the replacement. Their team was very friendly, professional, and funny to work/talk to. They replaced our furnace within a reasonable time and told me of what is to be expected on turning on a new furnace. Overall, my experience with this company for the past week has been very pleasant and gave me a peace of mind of my home. I could not have asked for anyone better. The HVAC companies that we had inspect our system did not thoroughly look into the issue we were describing and all pushed replacement quoted up to $22000. I called Chadwick Air, described our situation, and they knew what the issue was right away. They sent out a technician a few days after our initial call and they were able to resolve our AC issue causing extremely high utility bills after an hour or two of work. They were knowledgeable and professional all the way around. When we do need our AC system replaced in the near future, we will be going with Chadwick Air.

It is my opinion that I caution each and every one of you about using Chadwick Air. We had used him for 10+ years for all of our HVAC needs. We had been very happy with his services and response times. That is up until September 3, 2019. In April of 2019, we had to get a new downstairs AC unit. He installed the new unit as well as a furnace as he said that it would be more energy efficient for us. He also had to upgrade our thermostat to an Ecobee smart thermostat. On May 13, our downstairs flooded from a separated pipe. That lead to water getting into the duct in our kitchen and dining room. It was also May 13 that Brian came to install the thermostat. My husband had discussed with him that we will need to have some ducts replaced and would be in touch. July 1-3 Brian said he would be at our home doing our ductwork replacement. We had asked to have ONLY the damaged ducts replaced. I was home on that Tuesday and heard hammering and banging in the front of our home. My husband spoke with Brian and questioned why ducts are being changed that were not damaged. His response was one of "We will do you up right, get everything taken care of." That same day I was home, Brian Chadwick was not at my home. The men at the home were his "apprentice," who according to My husband, is a senior in high school and is homeschooled and his son, Brian Jr., who is a sophomore in college. There was a third male here, whom I did not know. Once the ducts were replaced, we developed a bad humidity problem within our home. We tried to be patient and give time for the humidity to be pulled out of our home as our unit was off for 3 days while the ducts were replaced. On July 25, 26, August 5, 13, 15, 19, and 29 messages were sent to Chadwick asking him to find the problem with the humidity levels. He was informed often, sent pictures of our thermostat which reads the humidity levels in the home, informed of when our brand new cabinets began warping and not closing, the brand new floors becoming squeaky and sticky...all changes related to elevated humidity. By elevated humidity, I mean 65-72%. A normal home should be in the low to mid 50s%. There would be days without any response at all from Chadwick. There would be days he answered immediately and had no answers or solutions for our humidity problems. Ultimately, on September 3, we were at the end of our rope. I found mold in my ductwork and on my vent covers. I had Karnes Heating and Air come do an inspection. Their findings were shocking! The findings were "Ductwork is vastly oversized; For furnace 9-8" supply leads need to be sized down to original 6". 16: return to 14". Found several severe air leaks. Duct not sealed properly and loose insulation. Highly recommend replacing all ductwork by qualified HVAC Technician." On September 4, Hanover County Building inspector came out and did an inspection. It was brought to my attention at that time that all contractors are supposed to obtain a building permit for changing anything with ductwork and all licensed HVAC techs know this law. A building permit was not obtained by Chadwick Air. I am still waiting the official report from Hanover, but his initial findings were, "Numerous violations within the ductwork; the intake is not secured at all; mold is growing in the ducts leading to the home; the ducts are improperly sized; improper insulation of the ducts; the ducts should not have been cut off and reattached to the old ducts, but should have been removed and new ducts attached directly to the boots." The facts of this are that 1-Chadwick allowed unlicensed persons to perform work WITHOUT direct supervision of a licensed person. 2-Chadwick admitted to Scott and myself that he was not present and did not provide the supervision he should have. 3-Chadwick admitted that the boys doing the ductwork are unlicensed and it was his license in which they were practicing under. 4-our cabinets have suffered warping and damage from the humidity levels in our home and Brian feels he is not responsible for that damage. 5-The humidity levels correspond perfectly with the ductwork replacement and that can be verified and proven with the Ecobee app as it keeps all readings on a graph indefinitely. He did refund our money we paid him initially. We spent more than that to get this problem fixed!! I will also have an expense to replace cabinet doors that have damage due to the humidity levels being high for so long. The cabinets were 15 months old when the damage started!
