I took a trip from MSP Airport to Duluth on the 5:10pm departure on Saturday Jan 22, 2022. It was snowing out in Minnesota that night and the bus showed up about 15 minutes late (not a problem). The driver was very friendly, very professional, and EXTREMELY good at his job. He said he thought the snow would not affect us north of Minneapolis, however it did snow most of the way. The driver handled it exceptionally well and we arrived only about 25 minutes later to Duluth which I thought was amazing. I would recommend Jefferson Lines and this driver in particular to anyone. read more

Was hoping for a better experience after GreyHound. I will never use a bus again. It's more than arlines and the way you have to contort your body for hours on end is ridiculous all so other passengers (who probably paid less or were put on by an agency) can triple their leg space. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Jefferson Lines at MSP Airport. My bus to Ames was scheduled to depart, but when we arrived at the pickup area, the bus appeared to leave without us. When I finally reached an operator, I was told that this sometimes happens because the code used to access the airport garage doesn't work, causing drivers to leave and return later. If that is a known issue, passengers should be clearly informed about it in advance and given instructions on what to do if it occurs. Instead, we were left confused and unsure whether we had missed the bus. The operator also indicated that because we purchased our tickets less than an hour before departure, the driver may not have known we were planning to board. If that is the company's policy or a limitation of their system, it should be made abundantly clear during the booking process. Customers should not be expected to guess that buying a valid ticket may not properly notify the driver. What made the situation even worse was the difficulty reaching customer service. I called six separate times, trying multiple menu options. Each call rang for an extended period with no answer, eventually leading only to voicemail. When customers are dealing with a potentially missed departure, they need prompt assistance, not endless ringing and unanswered calls. Most disappointing was the apparent lack of ownership of the problem. Rather than providing a clear solution, the issue was largely blamed on the airport. From a passenger's perspective, the reason doesn't matter. Transportation companies should have reliable procedures and backup plans in place when known operational problems occur. The entire experience was stressful, confusing, and avoidable. Better communication, clearer policies, and accessible customer service would go a long way toward preventing situations like this. read more

I had a job interview so I scheduled my bus ride extra early so I could be on time, I show up at the stop 30 minutes early and the app said the bus was around 15 minutes late. Not a big deal, things happen. They park in the parking lot and I immediately begin to walk over to the bus, I'm about 10-15 feet away when they drive out of the parking lot, they didn't even wait more than a couple seconds. I literally started chasing after it and waving my hands and they still drove off. I purchased two refundable tickets so I call the operator to explain the situation and request a refund, to which she tells me she can't refund it as the bus has already left the stop. I go to cancel the second ticket that was scheduled for a couple hours later and you have to fill out a request form, and once you fill it out you still have to wait 5-7 days for it to be approved for a refund. Luckily I was able to cancel the second ride early enough, but as of writing this I haven't received my refund yet so we'll see read more

I had two twenty four hours delays. The first was at Billings. The station staff was amazing there, but there was no place to sleep and there were several of us. As for going to Spokane, the driver was rude and didn't give us our breaks. Wifi didn't work. Outlets didn't work. Completely full bus. After arriving, we got no food, drinks, sorry or anything. We had to jump through hoops and call all over the place just to try to get ticket fixed because it was bought through Greyhound. Each company says the other should take care of it. I booked a trip for my fiance to go to his brother's funeral, to start the trip in Albert Lea MN the bus went North instead of South, which started a snowball effect for the trip down and back. The bus did arrive pretty much on time in Huntsville Texas. The trip back on the other hand left him stranded in Kansas City Missouri for over 10 hours with Jefferson lines leaving my fiance and many other passengers. The bus driver left the station 20 minutes before their bus got to the terminal which I think is wrong, if you have people scheduled to get on the bus coming in from another town you should wait those 20 minutes for them, so instead they wiped them off the schedule all together like they never existed! Told me my fiance never had a jefferson bus ticket! They gave him a different company ticket in Kansas city Missouri. Goes to show you mean nothing but the almighty dollar to Jefferson Bus Company. Then he was robbed when he was on the bus at one of the stops, someone riding the bus stayed on the bus ran sacked his carry on luggage and stole from him, the guy was looking for his wallet, money or any valuables, luckily he had all that on him so the guy only got a couple of items but when the guy got on the bus he had a light bag and when he left the bus in Albert Lea he could barely zip it shut! The bus showed up 10 minutes early and then left before me and other passengers could get on it, while being mislabeled as heading for another location. Then, when everybody tried to call them to see if another bus was coming, nobody answered because it was outside of their business hours (it was only 6 a clock). When I called them the next day they again failed to answer the phone and now I'm stuck somewhere where I don't want to be. Also, I've taken their busses before. Busses are gross, smell bad and have outlets that do not work. Drivers are frequently rude, incompetent and unhelpful and the location of specific stops is often unclear. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. One of their drivers crashed into my car in a parking lot, so I called the police to report the accident and look at any damages. Once the police left, this bus driver purposely crashed his bus into my car again parking it into a snow bank! I couldn't believe it! I had to call the police again telling them that my car was smashed into a snow bank with this bus trapping it there! Absolutely crazy! The police gave him a ticket for not reporting the accident and claimed they couldn't do a thing for me. Even though it was clear he did that on purpose! Horrible experience scheduling a 100 mile trip starting at MSP with destination Willmar. I scheduled from my phone and when the sent the email with the itinerary, instead of boarding the bus at 11 for the normal 3 hr trip through St Cloud, they had me boarding at the airport at 5:30 am and going to Mankato MN, back to Minneapolis and then boarding another bus to Willmar. Their default itinerary had me on the bus for 10 hours. I tried calling them immediately but they only have daytime office hours. From 730 am. They wouldn't allow me to change to the normal 11 am bus and were so uncooperative and rude. They hung up on me. I rented a car and will never take Jefferson again. A month or so earlier they sent me a text informing me that they were cancelling the bus that I had booked for the next day. They are irresponsible. read more

Worst Bus Company Ever! Most expensive and worst service! We bought a ticket for my daughter to travel from Madison to Rochester. The company announced a change in the pickup address on their website. We even called to confirm this change in advance and were assured that it was correct. My daughter waited at the new location until around 10:25 AM, but the bus never arrived. She then decided to check the original old pickup address and found that the bus was there but just left... My wife called the company and was told that nothing could be done except rescheduling the bus for another day. I called the company as well and was met with a cold response, claiming they had never changed the pickup location. It is clear that their staffs are not on the same page, and the information has never been synchronized, leading to chaos like this and much more. Our vacation is tomorrow so we cannot reschedule, I asked for refund and the cold voice directed my call to nowhere. Now we have to drive to Madison and pick up our daughter by ourselves. What a worthless bus company. Today my wife was traveling from Milwaukee to Minneapolis. They made a stop in Winona Mn, for bathrooms and lunch or whatever, and the driver said he'd leave in 20 minutes. My wife went to a bathroom, came out in less than 20 minutes, and saw the bus pulling away. There were not that many people on the bus, and driver apparently made no effort to count heads or check for stuff on seats to make sure he wasn't leaving anyone. Dumb and lazy. All her stuff except purse is on this bus. Daughter in MPLS is having to rush down to Winona (2 hrs) in pouring rain to pick up my wife. Daughter's boyfriend has all my wife's booking and confirmation info and is going to try to get her stuff when the bus arrives in MPLS. But he's been told the driver may not release my wife's luggage to him, since he is not her. This is ridiculous. I had a call in to their Customer Support office, could not get a live person, and had to leave a voice mail which they said they'd return. Still waiting. I took bus from Sioux Falls SD to St. Paul, MN for $99. one way ticket. It was Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. it was pleasant both bus drivers were very nice. They made several stops in small towns in Minnesota along the way. There were only 3 people on the bus for a long time. They stop at 1 p.m. to get lunch, at the convenience store. If I could give zero stars I would. Two times my sons bus to or from college was cancelled. One time with no notification. you call the customer service line and it just rings. After 16 minutes of ringing you can leave a message. Great in theory but when no one ever calls you what's the point. I put messages on FB and finally get someone to respond. The gal who I finally talked to was great. her service does not out weigh the bad. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I have never taken any of their buses and so this is not a bad review of their actual service since I can't speak to that. This is a review of the person that is their representative at one of their stops in Joplin, MO. Specifically the Phillips 66 gas station on 7th St. Went in to the store because I was having an issue trying to purchase a bus ticket online. Explained myself to the female at the counter. To which she replied, "I don't know what your talking about." So I started all over and she rudely interrupts me. She then says she can help me on the other side. When she gives the total it was a dollar more than the online total. So I asked and she just rudely keeps repeating that the price fluctuates depending on availability. I didn't get to finish my question, since I figured it was the service fee but wasn't sure since this person insisted the prices fluctuate. I needed to know for future reference should I need to purchase future tickets. If its cheaper to do it online I would prefer to purchase it online. ... yeah I know its just a dollar. Anywho, so i asked for a subtotal, tells me the total price and says thats the total final price. By the way, when you work in any type of sales, you ought to know the difference between subtotal and total ... hope her drawer balances. So it turns out that it was the service fee that was the difference ... online 2.50, in person 3.99. When I tried to point it out to her she got offended and said that i was telling her how to do her job. Told her i wasnt telling her how to do her job, just wanted to let her know it wasnt the price it was the service fee since the ticket price was the exact same. Wanted her to know so that she can correctly the question to the next person that asked. She wasnt having it, kept insisting it was the fluctuation in ticket prices and then just ignored me. If I were purchasing a ticket for myself, i would have walked out of there and never turned back. Not a very good representation of the Phillips 66 and Jefferson Line brand. in 2021 I started using Jefferson lines to travel between Duluth and St.Paul as I went to college and I would use this to go home from college. In the beggining it was great. Bus would always come on time and I did not have any problems. But unfortuntely the last few years they have severely gone downhill. I have had buses not be delayed but would never show up. Calling customer service is essentially useless because you can never get through to any one. If they did cancel the bus they would literally wait untill your standing outside at the bus stop for a half hour. But the final straw was this past trip I took. I scheduled a bus back to Duluth ( I had to be back because I had class in the morning). And I got to my stop and waited.. waited... and waited... The bus never showed up. No travel alerts NOTHING. Tried calling and once again got nowhere. I was eventually able to get back but had to go the next day and ended up missing class. A few days later they posted on their facebook page saying that they temporarily suspended that bus schedule. AFTER leaving me stranded. AFTER they took my money and let me book the tickets!!!!!!! On a recent trip the where I was to board, the bus was AN HOUR late without notification. When I called the representative told me not to worry I would make all of my connections ON TIME. that was false I spent over 4 hrs in Des Moines IA. and if that wasn't bad enough I had to spend over 6 hours in Omaha, NE. Because of this delay, I arrived at my final destination almost 12 HOURS LATE, unable to take part in all of my plans. JEFFERSON lines does not admit fault instead they blame someone else, when you call that company they blame Jefferson. WHAT A JOKE! I actually redownloaded the Yelp app, just so I could leave a review. So this is my experience with Jefferson Bus Lines. I was going on a trip from Missoula to Sioux Falls and opted to book with them because I wanted to support a regional business over something like Greyhound. Big mistake. I had been having some issues with their website and had to rebook a ticket for a second time; when I got that ticket, it was for the wrong date. (I had a friend sit next to me while using the site, just to make sure I was doing everything right.) I called multiple times to try to switch the ticket or resolve the issue; no one picked up. The customer service line keeps you on hold for 20 minutes before sending you to a voicemail, every single time. Nearing my departure time, I bought a second ticket to be safe -- and this time it was correct. No issues. I followed up with them via email to explain the situation, sent them PDFs of both tickets, and hoped for the best. Despite the fact that they're nonrefundable, I was able to speak to a representative at the Missoula station. She told me several customers had been having these kinds of issues with the site, not just me, and that she hoped the refunds department would process my claim. She said something like, "They're real jerks if they don't." Well, they didn't. They offered me a voucher despite the fact that I don't live in the area and would never have the need (nor the desire, at this point) to take Jefferson Bus Lines again. It was a one-time thing due to extraordinary circumstances (aka a self-funded reporting trip, in which I was attempting to save money). Despite saying she was "sorry," the customer service person repeatedly blamed me for the things she felt I did wrong or could have done differently. I did all the things she had suggested. I called customer service, several times. I had been in touch with them via email. I called that particular bus station and couldn't get through. She didn't really care and kept talking over me when I asserted that I had done everything a person could to fix it, while also trying to still do my job on what is essentially a work trip. Rather than resolving it, she hung up on me. This is what you're getting with Jefferson Bus Lines: a third-tier service that gaslights you and rips you off, rather than just admitting that they don't know how to run a business. read more

I saw all these negative reviews and was apprehensive about booking a ticket. The trip was a breeze both ways. The bus was clean, spacious, had working outlets, and arrived at every destination within 5 minutes of the schedule. I wish there had been a more direct route between Minneapolis and Des Moines. 5 hours and 30 minutes is a bit slow for the distance travelled, but this was all upfront with the schedule so I knew what I was getting into. Beware that the Wifi has a data cap. It was 100 MB on the way there, 200 MB on the way back. A single refresh of a page can sometimes cost 2-3 MB, so be very judicious with your web browsing. read more

There was some trouble with the website and I ended up having to purchase a new ticket after my ticket was deleted after buying one for a route I shouldn't have been able to buy one for. Customer service took about 6 days to get back to me after my initial attempts to contact; however, they were very kind and did their best to help out once they'd called. Moreover, they followed up with me when they weren't able to get a hold of me the first time they called me back. Eventually after filling out the refund form and disputing with my credit union, I did get my refund. read more

Jefferson Lines is probably the worst company I've ever dealt with. Twice, they've canceled my bus; the second time with only one day's notice--too late to make other arrangements. This alone is frustrating, but not damning. The thing that makes them irredeemably horribly is their refund policy. Tickets are nonrefundable, even if they cancel your trip. You can transfer your tickets to another trip, but they charge you $20 for the transfer. You need to wait on the phone for hours, get hung up on dozens of times, and argue with unhelpful representatives in order to get these blatantly unjust fees waived. I hope for the absolute worst for this company, and I eagerly look forward to them going out of business. read more

Bus number 5006 on May 30th on I 90 West was speeding 10 mph over at least the speed limit in an active construction zone. Obviouly they do not care about safety. Jefferson Lines you need to make a change. They need to stop focusing on making money and start focusing on peoples safety. read more
