After the necessary paperwork was done at the counter, I headed up the escalator to get my car. Once in the garage, there was one line for Enterprise and another for Alamo. Unfortunately, there was only one employee there helping people get their vehicles. At first, he was only helping those in the Enterprise line until we went over and asked. I was able to get a new Hyundai Sonata hybrid. It ran perfectly fine for my trip up to Duluth. As for returning the vehicle, we were given an address to use for navigation to get to the proper return ramp for terminal 1.

Unfortunately, I had a major problem after returning the vehicle. On July 28, I received an invoice from Sixt for $614.25 for damage to the front passenger-side aluminum rim, described as a scratch. I am absolutely certain this damage did not occur while I had the vehicle. Unfortunately, I did not think to take pictures of all four wheels when I picked up the car. When I contacted Sixt to dispute the charge, I was told that Sixt was not required to provide proof that the wheel was in perfect condition when I received the vehicle and that documenting the condition of the car was my responsibility. As a result, they refused to remove the charge. This is extremely frustrating. I have rented cars from many companies over the years, but I have never experienced a situation where I was charged hundreds of dollars for damage that I am confident was already present--and then told that the burden was entirely on me to prove otherwise. My strong recommendation: use extreme caution if renting from Sixt. If you do rent from them, I strongly recommend taking a video of the entire vehicle before leaving the lot, along with individual photos of all four wheels/rims and every part of the exterior and interior. Do not assume that any existing damage will be properly documented by Sixt. The initial rental experience was fine, but the way this damage claim was handled has completely changed my opinion of the company. I will not be using Sixt again.

We asked if it would impact our rates and they guaranteed it would not. We selected the car and went back into the office and confirmed we could use that car under our current contract with no impact on price. When we returned the car, the agent met us at the car and said, "we'll take care of everything and send you a receipt." We handed him the keys and stupidly did not get a receipt. I received the receipt just as I got to the gate in the airport. They raised the price to $698. No explanation. I tried to call customer service and you are told to go to their website. When I landed I went to the Thrifty counter at our destination and he said he could not access the records for MSP rentals and there was nothing I could do. I filled out their website form an have heard nothing. I am a Thrifty Blue Chip member and am not able to talk to a human about the problem. You fill in the information on the form and get no response. I don't understand how they can almost double the price of a signed contract without reason. Furthermore, I can't understand why it is impossible to talk to anyone about the problem. If you rent from Thrifty, beware, and never leave the rental without a final receipt.

I made the reservation weeks ago and selected "Manager's Selection" before I knew it would be snowing when I arrived in April. Upon arrival, they insisted on trying to upcharge me $60+ for an AWD vehicle even though their own website and others were suggesting SUV rentals would be less expensive than what I was originally charged. Most rental car companies would insist on upgrading me after selecting "Manager's Selection" when snow was newly on the forecast and AWD vehicles were on hand. The manager proceeded to argue with me by saying that I could book online but I'd have to wait hours for my new reservation to come through their system! She also consistently lied to me saying that the price online was actually more expensive than what I paid. I eventually booked online elsewhere and saved $100 but had to shuttle back to the airport. Will never rent here again.

    - Hertz at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport…read more Overall, I had a decent experience renting from Hertz at MSP. I reserved a Toyota Camry Hybrid but was assigned a Hyundai Elantra Hybrid instead. I understand that rental companies generally guarantee a vehicle class rather than a specific model, but the Elantra was noticeably smaller and sat much lower to the ground than a Camry. At 6'6" with knee problems, getting in and out of the car was uncomfortable. Interestingly, even my shorter friends, who are around 5'8" to 5'9", commented on how low the vehicle was and said getting out of it made them sore as well. So while the car itself operated fine, it was not the most comfortable option for our group. As a President's Circle and Gold member, the pickup process was otherwise convenient. My name was displayed on the board, and I was able to walk directly to the vehicle without stopping at the counter. The signage in the garage was a little confusing. The overhead signs appeared to stop at one range of space numbers, while a separate floor sign pointed toward the higher-numbered spaces. I missed that sign initially and had to ask an employee for directions. The employee was helpful and told me to continue farther down the lane, where I eventually found the car. Before leaving, I took detailed photos of the exterior and close-up pictures of any existing damage. This was the first Hertz location I had visited where vehicles passed through the newer automated light-scanning system upon return, so I was especially glad I documented the condition beforehand. I returned the vehicle at approximately 5:00 a.m. Several cars had accumulated in the return area overnight, and no attendant was present to inspect or check in the vehicle at that time. About five hours later, I received an email confirming the return, and there were no unexpected charges. Overall, the rental process was reasonably smooth. The replacement vehicle and garage signage were not ideal, and I have had slightly better Hertz experiences at other airports, but nothing about this rental would prevent me from using Hertz again.

As a Gold Member, I went directly to the Gold desk, picked up my assigned truck, and drove to the exit booth. The employee at the exit had difficulty checking me out because, as he explained, the truck had not been properly entered back into your system or there was some other issue with the reservation. He asked another employee at the booth for help, but instead of resolving the problem professionally, she responded with an attitude. I told them they needed to fix the issue because I was not going back to exchange trucks or start the process over when the problem was clearly on Hertz's end. The employee then called a manager, who apparently made some changes over the phone. After several minutes, the exit booth employee was finally able to check me out, and I was allowed to leave. The entire situation was very embarrassing. Cars were piling up behind me while everyone waited, and I wasn't even the only customer experiencing this issue. There was a vehicle ahead of me that appeared to be going through something similar. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated experience. I have encountered similar problems at other airport Hertz locations as well. The level of customer service has declined significantly, and it seems that employee training is lacking. Customers should not have to deal with delays, confusion, and unprofessional attitudes because of internal system or operational issues. As a Gold Member, I expect a much smoother rental experience. I hope Hertz will address these recurring problems, improve employee training, and ensure vehicles are properly processed before customers arrive.

I reserved a van 3 weeks prior to moving furniture from Minnesota to Florida thinking it would be more comfortable and easier to drive than a box truck. Plenty of time to make sure what was reserved was available or provide me with other options prior to picking up the vehicle. The van was approximately $500 more expensive. An expense I was willing to take on to have a more comfortable drive. When I picked up the vehicle they were out of vans but stated the box truck was bigger and drove similar to the van. I questioned the difference in the cost and was told I would have to call headquarters as there was nothing they could do about the difference. I had pictures from the website showing the difference in both prices. There was very little instruction on how to use the van. I didn't even think about not being able to see from the rear view mirror. No cruise control, very little head room and little to no ability to change the seat settings. I immediately contacted customer service and they said I needed to send an email. I did. The response was we can't do anything until you turn in the vehicle. Once I dropped off the vehicle in Florida, I was told there was nothing they could do and that the place I picked up the vehicle should have helped me. I responded to the email again and expressed my concerns and was given the runaround again. No one was accountable for helping their customers they were only worried about padding their pocketbooks. Beware of this scam company!

When compared with Uhaul, I found this one is little cheaper. The lady at the counter (Amanda, I believe) was nice. She did the paper works quickly and handed over the keys. Before I started my trip, I checked the odometer and the mileage was 69450. When I cross checked it with the paper, the 'mileage-out' was written as 69486. That means 36miles more than in the odometer. I was in hurry and thought would tell it when I return the vehicle. I was supposed to return the vehicle next day 10:00 AM and for safer side I returned it at 9:25AM. Amanda took care of the mileage error and I happily left the office. I was expecting a charge of $27-$29 on my credit card since I wasn't sure about the tax. Two days later, I found that my card has been charged as $54!!! That means twice the original amount. I called the customer care and I got connected to an agent 'Cristina'. She checked and told me that its a fee for late return. According to her, I was 1hr late and returned the vehicle at 11:15am only instead of 10:00am. When I told that I'm sure about the timings and all, she contacted Amanda and said what she can do it will refund $18. I asked her its around $24, not $18 and about the rest of the money? She said that its not possible and she raised her voice. She was not listening to me at all. She said she doesn't want to argue and I replied I'm just asking for the explanation of the extra charges. So I told her to connect to me her supervisior. She said "Okay" in a rude voice and put me on hold for a long time. Then no one picked the call and it got dropped. I called them again and this time I got "Matt". He was good and got connected me to the supervisor right away. I explained my situation and she said I will be charged only $30 and rest of the money, $24 will be refunded. I could have avoided this whole mess if I went ahead with U-HAUL. Tried to save some dollars and got an headache which I priced me way over than what I saved. And "Cristina", the worst agent I ever spoke. Doesn't have the qualities to properly communicate with a customer. I wonder, who hired her for this job.
