I never leave reviews. But today just bothered me. Met a friend for lunch to eat some wings and watch a Braves game. It was not busy at all, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant this time of day. Upon seating we requested that two of the multitude of TVs be turned onto the Braves game so that myself and my friend could watch while we eat. Our waitress (who was fantastic) said that the manager on duty would only do one TV to change to the game. There were 3 directly in front of me that were on the same channel and I counted at least 6 televisions that were on the same channel so I don't understand the problem. I've worked retail and I understand rules when it's busy, but the place was almost empty during this time. The person in charge was just being difficult to be difficult. Again our waitress was awesome and is the only reason why I don't leave a lower rated review. But I won't come back here. Been going here for years since it opened too. read more

Living in Florida now, I haven't been to a Jefferson's in about three years and I'm glad I came. The tender basket was even better than I remembered especially since they added new sauces. What really made the visit worthwhile was our server Marie. She was polite, prompt and on point. She made suggestions, followed up and brought drink refills without our asking. Easily some of the best wings (honey barbeque) I've ever had. The service was amazing as well. We were told the food would be about a 20 min wait. Before you come to the city of Oxford on I-20 East, there are billboards that say Fast, Fresh, and never Frozen. I have to agree. I have been to the Jefferson's in Gadsden and Rainbow City and has been pleased with both. This one you can see from the interstate, but it takes a little work to get there. There are TVS everywhere and dollar bills all over the walls. One thing I didn't understand is that they have a room with booths along the wall, but there is a huge space open where they should put tables. Anyway, I have always had their wings, which I have never had overcooked or the boneless having way too much breading like Buffalo Wild Wings. Tonight, I tried the Jefferson's burger. It wasn't a huge burger - maybe about a quarter pound at most. However, it was made with fresh, never frozen ground beef. It may been been ground chuck but the point was it was a fresh, handmade patty. The Jefferson's burger came with bacon, BBQ sauce, and American cheese. I wished they used another cheese on this burger like cheddar would make it better. My fries were the crinkle cut variety but they have curly fries for an extra charge, which are better. Sweet tea was cold, fresh, and perfectly sweet. My burger was $9 plus my tea. Jefferson's has become one of my favorite places to eat. The burger was pretty good, but the wings were better. read more

It took entirely too long to get my food for the quality of it. I ordered half an order of the "famous fried pickles" and a western burger to go. I am not impressed, the pickles barely have any batter on them and are warm and soaked in oil, not very crispy and pale in color rather than a nice golden brown, idk they're famous, my tummy started turning after only three. The burger was also eh, I really have nothing to say about it, honestly the wendy's across the street would have been a better choice. As a side I got coleslaw and it was flavorless aside from A LOT of pepper. read more

Went for the first time tonight and the experience was horrible not only did we have to wait an hour and a half for our food when it finally came out it was cold and even after the second try the waitress still did not have our ticket correct. Saw the place from the highway so decided to stop in. Very friendly barmaid recommends a few things so being a foodie with time to kill I first tried the Oysters Rockefeller. Wow! Not textbook but very fresh and loaded up huge with spinich, bacon and parmesan cheese half order is probably a meal fora novice eater, I could have eaten them all night! Next tried the chili, made here not canned. Thick tomato based chili but not super strong flavored. Seemed to be reduced into thickness honestly nothing to write home about but fine with a little Crystals hot sauce, always the sign of a classy place! Entre. Bacon Guac burger with crinkle cut fries and thier private labled ketchup, fancy! This was a winning combo! Fresh made guacamole and I had them grill the onions make this a truly excellent choice! Large selection of wing sauces seem popular but I didn't get there today, maybe next time. All in all reasonably priced and worth the stop in. read more

My family and I ordered oyster poboys at approximately 3:30 today. The oysters were pretty much fried batter. The oysters weren't even the size of a dime. If you don't have good oysters to serve - don't offer them on your menu. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Very disappointing. We will not waste our money or time again. read more

First visit and the atmosphere was good but not very satisfied with food. I had the hamburger which was very disappointing and the meat not seasoned. The onion on burger was one ring, not even a whole slice. My husband had the catfish basket and said the fish was watery and could have been cooked longer. I been here 2 times in 2 weeks. Service here is horrible. Waiter took too long to come check on you or if you wanted anything. The next time I called for pick up and the waiter didn't even know what comes in the sandwiches on their menu. I also made her confirm my order again...I thought it would be the way I called. I've heard people talk about this place but this was my first visit. Tavern atmosphere. Wings, burgers and oysters are the staples of the menu but they have appetizers, salads and other sandwiches, too. Waiters were courteous and friendly. I had the boneless wings. Very good. The only thing keeping me from giving four stars is the wait time for food. They were not very busy and we still waited 30-40 minutes for a not very complex order. I have always enjoyed Jefferson wings and fried pickles! Always perfect and just. I do not know what people expect from a wing sports bar but it is what it is. They are the only place in Oxford with true hot wings . It is clean , great service and maybe slow but would you rather have slimy undercooked wings fast or properly cooked fresh wings? Two of my friends came from out of town so I figured we could eat here since it's a local establishment and unique. The restaurant was not busy for 12 noon lunch (maybe 2 tables occupied). The food took awhile to arrive and when my friend got hers she noticed that the sauce didn't look like what she ordered so she asked the waitress if it was the correct sauce and she responded that it wasn't.she sent the food back only to have some blond lady, assuming the manager, very rudely and condescendingly come to tell us that it was the correct sauce on her wrap but that something from the grill had gotten on it which caused the confusion (gross but whatever). They replaced it. Then we paid in cash and about 15mins went by without receiving our change so since we were in a hurry I asked the same blond lady at the bar if she could help us. She rolled her eyes and walked away without a freaking word!!!!! So rude!! I'm sad that one of the few local restaurants in my area has gone so far down hill. Called Monday night (02/11/19) and placed a to-go order for 4 wings meals and was told it would be 15 minutes. I thought 15 minutes was a little bit of a reach for 4 meals, and I had another errand to run, so I ran my errand to give them some extra time. I got to the restaurant to pick up my order about 50 minutes after originally placing it. When I got there, the order STILL wasn't ready and I had to wait another 15 minutes (an hour and 5 minutes after placing the order and being told it would be ready in 15 minutes.) The restaurant wasn't at all busy- there were 2 patrons at the bar, and MAYBE 4 tables, 2 of which were leaving when I got there. While I was waiting, there was another customer picking up a to-go order and there was an issue with her order, so I decided to check my order before I left. Two of the meals were wrong. One was supposed to be hot with lemon pepper, and it was only hot, and one was supposed to hot-yaki, all drums, and it was a mix of drums and flats. Their solution for the no lemon pepper was putting dry lemon pepper seasoning in a condiment cup and putting it in the to-go bag. I was already tired of waiting, so I asked for a refund on the all drums up-charge instead of it being fixed. The lady behind the bar grabbed my box without saying anything and walked into the kitchen and I could hear her arguing with the cook in the back. She came back a few minutes later and said it would be just a few minutes for the wings. I explained to her that I already said I didn't want to wait any longer, I just wanted a refund on the up-charge. I was told it couldn't be undone (which is bullshit- I paid cash- so all that needed to be done was to open the register and give me my dollar back) and that they were just going to give me extra wings. I explained to her that I was tired of waiting- I was told the order would be ready in 15 minutes, and that was over an hour ago. Her response was to say she didn't key in or bag the order, so it wasn't her fault (I never said it was- just that I was tired of waiting,) and it would be just a few minutes on the extra wings. Finally, after another 5 or 6 minutes, she came back with my box and an extra box. I stupidly didn't check to make sure the extra wings were correct because I was frustrated beyond belief at this point and just left with the extra wings. I got home, and they had given me 5 extra hot-yaki flats. I will never return to this Jefferson's again- the attitude and blame placing of the employee behind the bar was enough to make me not want to come back- and I will drive out of the way to go to the one in Jacksonville, because it's always a delightful, no hassle experience, and if there has ever been a mistake, the waitress simply apologized (even though it probably wasn't her fault) and didn't try to place the blame on someone else. read more

Was really dissapointed. Service was great, even though it took 30 minutes for them to get my food . Had to send it back the first time, because, it was old and cold. Guess they fried fresh ones, which took a while. Ordered a beer, in a chipped mug, lucky for me I saw that. Tried to watch part of the game, was a little loud for me. The atmosphere is cold, not many smiling employees, they all looked like they wanted to be somewhere else.
