If you keep up with the right contact information and follow up as a resident when you really need assistance, JCA is way above the competition. Several negative reviews here are from those that either don't take the time to do something beyond emails or phone calls or sit on issues for weeks or months expecting the property management company to fix something they don't know anything about. As a board member for years, I've dealt with several companies that range from incompetent to just criminal. JCA isn't perfect, but if we are comparing them to the field, I haven't seen another company that comes close. As for getting things fixed myself, just so I am not looking from the outside in, I've had my share of issues including water leaks and pipes busting. I have had no issue getting items fixed from JCA or the previous companies. If residents have an issue that they see as urgent, emails don't really work. I have no issues going in person, making phone calls, or doing something other than waiting for a response on the computer screen. read more

One star is overly generous for this company. (Check Better Business Bureau rating of "F".) The staff is rude, unprofessional, incompetent and those are their best points. Maybe my experience is an anomaly, but when 4 out of 10 reviews (which excludes this one) gives it a one-star, that should tell you something. After noting Mr. Turner's response to the above review, I feel compelled to add that in fact, I had contacted his company to request a meeting with him to discuss my experience, but he did not respond to my request. On behalf of my sister, anyone giving this company more than one star works for them. This company has the absolute most worst, most unprofessional, most clueless, negligent, and irresponsible Property Manager working under them and now I see why. My sister has been left in an apartment with a ceiling hanging for 4 weeks. She cannot use her tub and hasn't been able to use it for months. Before this incident, my sister was left in her apartment for nearly 2 months with a faucet that leaked a lot of water and it would not stop. The tub was chipped so badly that my sister tapped the front of the tub up bc the water damage was making the chipping worse. It was not until black mold was in the tub that latisha , lakrisha wright, or whatever her name is sent someone to take care of my sister's tub. My sister sent her 9 emails, she also sent emails to the board members at her complex and no one helped my sister. My sister also contacted DOB and they sent that Wright woman a Notice of Infraction for violating more than one of their codes. She still didn't move when she received the Infraction. Only when she saw that mold did she do anything. Going back to what's going on now, the Property Manager has lied and lied and lied. She's lied so many times, she can't get out of the disgusting sea of lies that she is now swimming in. The ceiling is hanging and not only has she not had it repaired, she didn't even send anyone to my sister's place to cover up the hole where the ceiling was cracked opened with paint lead and flying dust coming from it. The ceiling is in the kitchen, paint was falling and the ceiling is still hanging. Debris was falling on my sister's counter and inside of the stove and my sister had to cover it up. That Property Manager doesn't know what in the world she's doing. She also held my sister's rent check until the end of the month. My sister had to go to the office to see why she had not put her rent check through. She told my sister that legally she can hold checks for 6 months before deposit. Who does that and who tells their tenant that as their reason for not depositing their tenants rent check!!! She was mad bc my sister reported her incompetent behind and was going to either try to say that my sister didn't pay her rent at sll or try to claim that my sister paid her rent late. Her staff is no better when it comes to unprofessionalism. Her Leasing Manager spoke to my sister is a disrespectful way. My sister's kitchen wall is still hanging and my sister can't take a bath or use her shower. I had to see what type of company would hire this woman. Now, I get it after reading how the people that she works for are just as bad. This man Jeff knows what their Property Manager is doing. The NG board members should be looking out for tenants, they need to get rid of this management team and cut all ties with Jeffrey Charles and Associates. They should not have hired them in the first place. They need to get my sister's old Property Manager back. They have used two different companies with two different Property Managers who are a disgrace to the neighborhood. This entire operation is trash and treats their tenants like disposals for their trash. They fit every stereotype you can think of. Ratchet at all time high. They have ruined Naylor Gardens but Naylor Board is letting it all go down. My sister has lived there for over 20 years and this is how she is treated. No idea how their service is...but today I witnessed one of their drivers cross 4 lanes of traffic, through a median and nearly cause myself and another car to crash (the other car had a young child in the back seat). I hope their service is better than the people they let drive their trucks. Bad idea to drive recklessley in a company vehicle with the phone number on it. UPDATE: the owner responded that the employees driving privileges had been suspended. It's refreshing that a company actually holds somebody responsible when they did something wrong. I had a similar problem as the last person who left a review. We had a recent enforcement of Visitor Parking. So I called the agent of our HOA to inquire about a visitor pass. She told me the initial issue of a visitor parking pass was free. So then I asked "How do I know if I had one?" (I lived here 16 years, I never seen a visitors pass). Then she replied in a smart tone, "Well then you obviously never had one if you don't know..." (I'm thinking exactly, I never had one, hence it should be free.) As a Board Member of a 350 townhome community, I have been working with JCA for over 3 years. Over that time, they have provided a great value and responsiveness vs the larger/multi- corporation management company's I have dealt with. They are locally owned and operated and when you call you get a person not an automated phone tree. You receive a property manager specifically for your property and who will always go to bat for your property. We have had a couple occasions were our manager had to spend hours dealing with the county/state and even drove an hour to a vendor's corporate office because they would not answer the phone or perform the work, they agreed to complete on the schedule they provided. Several of our maintenance contracts and projects have been successfully negotiated down in price because JCA took the initiative to do it prior to bringing it to the Board. If you are in the market for a knowledgeable and caring property management company, I can't recommend JCA enough. read more

The key to getting great customer service is connecting with someone on the staff who is knowledgeable, professionally courteous, dependable, cheerful and does what they say they will do. Andrea is one of those people. I had called JC&A for information on a unit I was selling and Andrea was totally on top of things. When she didn't have the information at her finger tips she said she would call me back with it once it was located. She did exactly that. Andrea was key in assisting me with helping the seller transition through a difficult time and with the lender and title company. She is an obvious contradiction to the horror stories we hear about in dealing with condo associations. I just wish there was a lot more of her to go around. read more

If you are seeking property management to make your money disappear without any visible consequence, this is the place. We have seen hundreds of thousands of dollars disappear into the hands of these people and they hire the most lackluster companies to service our community and add extra charges for things they did not plan adequately for but are required to cover. From their two man teams of snow shovelers dumping small mountains of salt onto the sidewalk to their parking nazis, the service is insufferable. Additonally, a certain property manager by the name of Omar J. Davis is untimely, unprofessional, and exceedingly rude when pressed to actually do his job. I have been in one of his communities for almost 5 years now and have yet to find a single tennant who is satisfied from any interaction with him.
