A treasure! The one thing I miss about moving away from Queens is consistently good, quick Chinese food. Sadly the greater Danbury CT area is PROFOUNDLY lacking in this department. . I've tried numerous places in the nearby vicinity, Wilton & Norwalk - disappointment every time. I almost gave up on finding a decent Chinese take-out place until I read the Jeffrey's review.. With great trepidation I ordered take out one night. EUREKA! Turns out Jeffry is from Queens! He gets it!! I almost cried when I walked in - was like being back in the old neighborhood! No fancy or weird trendy twists, none of this "Asian fusion" crap - their food is consistently delicious & well made. I haven't explored the menu completely but everything we've ordered so far has been on-point. The best part for me is their Singapore chow mei fun - that is my litmus test for a good Chinese take-out place. If it's not on the menu that's a HUGE strike (I'm talking to you Panda House!) and if it's got weird ingredients (ginger!? Hunan sauce?! NO!!) then faghedaboudit!! But Jeffries' Singapore C.M.F is as close to perfect as I've found outside of NYC.. And THAT is high praise! Is it REAL Chinese food - of course not, if you want THAT go to Flushing! Jeffery's is probably one of the BEST take-out chinese restaurants I have ever been to. I go there at least once every couple of weeks. Great food... great service! This was my first attempt at finding good Chinese take-out in the Danbury area. Being from NYC, I am used to the best of eateries. The food delicious. There was a big variety of vegetables in the Chicken with Chinese Vegetables. The egg roll was big and fat and NOT dripping with grease like some places. Although the meal was reasonable, they included a little fried donut and another little fried confection as well as allowing you to take whatever condiments you needed including a Chinese Tea Bag. Jeffrey's is ok if you're craving chinese food and this is the only place open. I ordered take out last night since my very picky eater cousins were coming by. The food was alright but I've had much better. There is some sort of spice in the egg rolls that I'm not too fond of. Just found this cute restaurant and decided to give it a try. We ordered our food, and was able to specify the 'hotness' of the dish. It was made while we waited. In no time the order was ready and they through In some donuts for free. The food was great and the little treat was wonderful. This Chinese place moved straight to the top of our list. The place is a little hole-in-the-wall that has the best Chinese food around for miles!! We always do take out because ambiance is not great...but their food has never disappointed!!! Love this place! We order take out from here a lot. The food is consistently good and service is quick and friendly. Infact they know our order by heart :) Here's what I really like about this place -the folks there happily customize the dishes to our liking. We typically get Sweet Corn Chicken Soup (they mince the chicken for me instead of putting in chicken strips :) and its super delicious). We also get Kung Pao Chicken where they substitute broccoli and bok choy for celery and carrots and make it extra hot and Singapore noodles with shrimp (extra hot again). I got a spring roll that was somehow burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. The filling was slimy. The sesame tofu was disgustingly sweet and mushy. I ordered steamed vegetable dumplings. I asked if they had any animal ingredients in it because I'm vegan. The sauce included with the dumplings is totally bland and unseasoned. As I was chewing the last one, I thought I tasted egg, so I called to check again, and was told that there is egg in them, which I can't eat. They obviously don't understand something as simple as "no meat or animal ingredients" because the girl offered to replace them with regular meat-filled dumplings. I spent the night throwing up. I spent nearly $30 and was only able to eat the white rice. Terrible meal, never going back! read more

I have been going to Jeffrey's since it opened about 7 years ago. In the beginning the food was excellent. About 3 years ago they changed something, not sure if it was ownership, cooks or style of cooking but it has gone downhill. So I have been ordering less frequently. Last week I ordered my families usual and it was terrible. My kids wouldn't eat it and my husband wouldn't finish. It gave me an upset stomach after only a few bites. Our usual is Chicken & Broccoli, Cashew Chicken, Spare Ribs and plain rice. I will be looking for a new Chinese take place. Very disappointed! :( read more

Dough for dumplings were overly thick and took away from the dumpling as I got full from dough than the filling inside. Beef from my beef with broccoli was somewhat rubbery to chew. It took 10 minutes to cook a whole meal. The broccoli was hard as a rock and ice cold. The orange chicken was all coating and covered up some brown strands of dark meat. They had to cook it again as I stood there and waited. It used to be very good when the previous owners ran it. They now operate the liquor store next to the restaurant. Ok. Portions are huge. Prices are low. It was a good experience as far as service went but. I dunno. I hate greasy fried rice. Partially cooked spring rolls. The shrimp was nice and fresh. I was really excited to try this place based on the other reviews and the fact that finding decent Chinese food in this area has been impossible. Let's start with the good. Food was ready fast, but I would expect that from take out. My husband had the chicken wings which he raved about. We also had the boneless spareribs which were delish. Very lean, which usually means dry, but these were great. Now the not so good. The wontons in the soup were overcooked and mushy. The rice in the chicken rice soup was also over cooked and the chicken itself was a little slimy. The pork fried rice had way too much soy in it, so much so that is all you could taste. Fried dumplings were huge and pretty tasty, but when you cut into them they squirted some disturbing brown greasy liquid. The crab rangoons were more rangoon than crab. Way to much wonton and not enough filling. They also didn't ask if we wanted any sauces, so we ended up with nothing, no duck sauce, no hot sauce. Overall, not going back because great chicken wings is not enough to make me want to order from there again. read more
