Order to club sandwich and all I got was a bunch of bread & Fries and very little content. The Fries were okay. The Ketchup bottle on my table totally empty, so I went to another table and that bottle was totally empty. Waitress never came by to see if I liked my food or if I needed a refill on my soda but she did bring the bill for whenever I was ready to pay. The bill had suggestions of tips and also an advisory of a 3% up charge if you're going to use a credit card which isn't stated on the menu. The waitress never did come back for me to pay her or to ask how everything was. Never a goodbye or have a nice day. I paid at the cash register up front and didn't pay the suggested tips. Gotta admit , the most recent reviews are spot on. This used to be a great family restaurant now it's just a dump on the side of the highway. The entire community is disappointed. The quality of the food dropped, staff is hit or miss, hardly checks on you, you have to flag them down. Drinks come half way filled and when you finally get a refill it comes again the same way. Not only that, but one time I ordered takeout (daughters were super hungry) and when I got there I sat down . I do this sometimes. However , I had to get an earful from the male host as I'm sitting down talking about how he had to put the food in the 5c containers , making an entire scene in the restaurant full of paying customers. Several locals told me Jeffrey's was the Marquette go-to for home cooked brekkie goodness. Stopped by around noon on a Sunday. Hostess took our name and phone number, then we waited in our car (covid protocols still in place; they're also still limiting seating, FYI). Twenty minutes later the cel rang and we got a two top. Server was cheerful and staff hustled and bustled to sling hot food to the tables. We ordered the French toast and a big belly breakfast (two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a short stack of pancakes). Food was on par with a greasy spoon short order joint, and everything tasted fine enough. The French toast is made with thick slices of cinnamon bread and tasted fresh. Pancakes weren't remarkable, but they were cooked all the way through and did the job. PRO TIP: Pony up the $2.50 and upgrade to real UP maple syrup. (If you're going out for breakfast I honestly don't know why you'd even bother with the high fructose food colored crap.) Coffee seemed weak and wasn't very flavorful, but lots of folks drank it anyway. And the portion of American fries I got as a side underwhelmed. They tasted great; I just wish I got an actual pile of them for the extra $3.95. I use to love Jeffries and frequent them often prior to their fire. I've been back 6 times since they reopened and every time has been a disappointment. No longer willing to give them a try. My favorite item was their chef salad. Often they are out of an ingredient for this, such as ranch or avocado. This is a $15 salad and the size has shrunk significantly. You use to get two soft pieces of French bread with it. Now you get a burnt "crustini". The bacon was burnt to a crisp and tasted awful. A soda is almost $4 per person. 3% service charge for using a debit or credit card. The new male host just tosses the menus on the table. There is the tackiest picture across from check out of the owner in a Lions shirt in front of the Packers stadium with a thumbs down. The atmosphere just feels tacky. No refills ever offered on your almost $4 drinks. I think they lost their quality core staff. The menus has a few typos and grammar errors. For 2 people to go there for breakfast, it's not cheap. It's easily going to be a $40-$50 meal with all of the up charges and service charges. Not worth it in my opinion. This place use to be good. I recommend lowering your prices and going back to what worked. Train your staff. Don't let them argue in the middle of the dining room in front of customers. read more

At one time, this is one of my favorite places to eat in Marquette. The last several experiences have totally put me off and will not be going back. Latest one was a overpriced Caesar chicken wrap. Something that I very easily could've gotten out of the cooler at Walmart and it would've been better and half the cost. Changed the fries for a cup of soup at a premium of two dollars. Also. Never checked on how I was doing or if I needed more water, which I did. Had to show up at the cashiers to get my bill. They were not busy by the way, but were closing in their defense so more time we spent on cleaning up and getting out the door than taking care of the customers that were still there. I figure this wont make a difference to you and you'll probably delete it but it needs to be said. My husband and I have been coming to Jeffries for awhile now. Usually after church on Sunday. Understandably it's busy at the lunch time. But there is nothing more frustrating than waiting for up to 20 minutes, seeing empty tables and staff standing behind the counter chatting. Then when we are finally seated we waited another half hour for our food. And the clincher was the hair under my scrambled eggs. So I doubt we'll ever be back. I know there is a staff shortage all over but fill the empty tables, give people a beverage and some bread on the table and get another chef. read more

Second time in town. Second time here. Very popular place. Varied crowd. Located just of the highway. This is a great breakfast spot. French toast is awesome. Everything is good. Service is good. They try hard, and it's clear they are looking to please. The kitchen was slow. Don't stop if you're in a hurry. This isn't that type of place. Just enjoy. Only concern was that the busser used the same wet rag to clean seats and tables. Tables should be sprayed with sanitizer and wiped. My wife and I are obviously gluttons for punishment. We decided to give Jeffrey's another try after years of disappointing breakfasts. Overall, our breakfast rated on a scale of 1-10, charitably, could not be rated higher than 5 for my wife and 7 for me. I ordered a Jeffrey's Combo. Asked for eggs cooked well, medium bacon, pancakes, and cinnamon toast. The bacon, pancakes and cinnamon toast were very tasty. Eggs were an abomination. It's obvious the cook has no clue how to scramble an egg. The cook must be self-taught. The eggs are apparently simply thrown on the grill, chopped up into tiny pieces with liberal amounts of partially cooked white. Disgusting to say the least! My wife's requested her eggs to be whipped before scrambling, yet they came out looking worse than mine. My wife and I finally concluded that their inability to properly follow customer directions and cook to order is not a fluke, but rather is a feature at Jeffrey's. Also tried both their decaf and regular coffee, both had a weird aftertaste and tasted awful. Sadly, for a really disappointing subpar breakfast we ended up spending $27 for two people. If you are looking for a homemade tasty and fresh breakfast with great service, Jeffrey' SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. read more

(Avoid at all cost) Don't waste your time ,food was sub par and the waitress not friendly. She asked if I wanted more coffee ,gave me a dribble and went to her regular patrons. Great service! Great food! Clean and bright restaurant. From the various breakfast entrees, everything I had was hot and well prepared, to the fresh pastries you can't go wrong. I was there for breakfast and lunch (stayed next door) on more than one occasion and was always happy I did. Right off the highway, and a short distance from the downtown, it is worth a visit. I'm on a absolutely breathtaking road trip in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I stop in Marquette for lodging and to try the whitefish everyone has told me about. I find Jeffrey's on top of a hill. I entered the place and there are more than a few other customers. I order the fried whitefish that came with soup, veggies, and fries. The dish arrives and it's a nice big piece of fish. The fish is very good with no leftover fish taste. I really enjoyed it and will do it again! read more

It was good and clean. Just a few corrections will elevate this restaurant to the next level. The waitstaff does not get credit for not writing down the orders, but they lose a LOT of points for each thing that is forgotten. Also, the waitstaff is supposed to make sure the order is correct BEFORE it leaves the kitchen. Again, points lost for not fixing it before delivering it. The chef is perhaps self-taught. But watching the Food Network or a few cooking shows might help fix a few basic problems. Chicken breast is supposed to be cooked in a fry pan and marinated - take off the fire and let it rest a few minutes to let it finish cooking. THEN slice it for salads. This way the chicken stays tender and flavorful instead of dry and hard. There is also a way to cook a sunny side egg so that the egg whites are actually cooked, but the yolk is still soft and unbroken. The flavors of the food is fine. read more

Hubby and I did breakfast there yesterday. Disappointed to say the least. The omelet was OK but the American fries were, to be blunt, nasty! They were literally in little puddles of grease. No potato flavor whatsoever. All you could taste was the grease. The server was just shook her head and said she would let the kitchen staff know. I visited with a group of 7 (including myself) around noon. The place was less than half full. Drinks came fast, but over the course of our meal the waiter only came to check on us one time. We had to call him over for more syrup and ranch. The ranch was spoiled and when given another one it was also spoiled and we were charged for it. I walked in for lunch, there were perhaps three tables being served so not busy at all. The hostess sat me at a booth and told me someone would be along to take my order. I waited 15-20 minutes and no one came buy, not even to offer a cup of coffee. If they were busy I wouldn't have minded so much but all the waitresses we're behind the counter laughing and talking. When I walked up to the counter to tell them I was leaving nobody would acknowledge my presence. I finally had to interrup one of them to tell them how long I waited and that I was leaving. The service was abominable and the waiter was definitely not in any hurry. The tables around us were complaining as well. My husband and I went to Jeffrey's for breakfast on July 22nd around 12:30. When we first walked in the hostess called to us from the other side of the restaurant to come to her side and wait to be seated even though we were standing under the "Wait To Be Seated Sign". How much more welcomed we would have felt if she or someone had bothered to walk over to us and asked us to wait on the other side of the restaurant. Shortly after we placed our order at 12:45 we noticed several other people waiting for their food. After another 30 minutes the hostess started telling people coming in that it was taking 30-45 minutes for food to be served. When we asked our server why it was taking so long she told us the kitchen was backed up and "it's Sunday, it's like this everywhere". At 1:45 our food was finally served and the restaurant was nearly empty. It appears this is a normal way of doing business at Jeffrey's as there was no apology for the wait, no offer of a discount, or no offer of free coffee. We've been to Big Boy, the Holiday Inn, and Buck's Restaurant in Ishpeming on Sundays and never waited an hour for our food. Those places are obviously doing things right and Jeffrey's should figure out what they are doing wrong. Although we have been going here for breakfast and lunch for the last several years, it will be a long time before we go back and we definitely won't recommend them to any of our friends. read more

First off, stood at the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 5 minutes before someone asked "are you waiting to be seated?" ... nope just standing here admiring the other people who are eating... Second of all, we get seated, brought coffee. No silverware or anyone in sight to ask for something to stir it with. Finally walked around until I found a stirrer. Fast forward 10 minutes, server finally shows up. I ask what the special was "ummm I think it was a country whatever skillet thing". "Ok. What's on that?" "I think it has cornbread and bacon?" "Ok fine I'll have that. Eggs poached". "What?" "Poached" "oh. I thought you said cooked. Hahaha". So now it's been nearly an hour since we walked in (just 2 of us). My wife and I are no big eaters, so we split the "California Omelette" which had spinach, peppers, portabella mushrooms, onions, avocado slices topped with provolone cheese. One of the best omelette's we have ever had! Omelette was nice and fluffy and not over-cooked. Came with hash browns and sourdough bread. The whole package was very very good. Highly recommend. This place is about average in a good way--A-OK as Yelp calls it. That does not mean it's bad or we won't eat here. Many meals we eat are average, so we come here on occasion. Average in a good way to reiterate! Not average as in school lunch or institutional food. We usually have their breakfast food and it is pretty good. I would say they have the best (crispiest) hash browns in the area. My wife usually gets their breakfast combo and says it is pretty good. I usually get their country (chicken) fried steak with eggs and hash browns. I like the sausage gravy smothering everything and have to ask for that. The chicken fried steak is crispy also. Their sausage gravy is a bit on the bland side. Overall, average or slight above average. If they had a tastier sausage gravy, this would be killer (hint hint). Their toast is really good. We choose this place mostly for their breakfast food as there aren't many restaurants that serve it all day. The kids usually find something they like here. The staff is friendly and the prices are very fair. We wil continue to come here when we are in the mood for breakfast for dinner and have some variety on the menu for the group. It's a pretty good place. This place rates about 3.5 stars in our book. Note: the median age of customers here is about 80. We happened to be here early (for us) at 5pm today (late for the median age group) and noticed that it was like being there after church. read more
