I have two words for you: FISH FRY!! 'Tis the season for such delicacies, so Smokin'Hubster and I did our homework. All paths literally lead to the Crossroads as the best place for a fish fry. We showed up a bit early just in case and we were not disappointed! Ashley took great care of us, quickly got us drinks while we pored over the menu. I couldn't decide, as there were many fish entrees to select. Lucky me, the Fisherman's Platter features all of them! That's what we each ordered, though we differed completely on the sides. The food came quickly. The size of the portions crowded the table (good thing it was just two of us at a four top). Every item tasted so good and we had trouble finishing. Talk about fat, dumb and happy; I may wear sweatpants the next time we order this! The other thing I want to mention is that Crosswords is keepin' it fresh in so many ways. Ashley had some new tech that used the Toast app to check us out right at the table. I also saw a new weeknights daily special menu posted at Facebook. Good things are happening at Crossroads but you gotta get here to see them. And soon, because Fish Fry season doesn't last forever! read more

Just had the best fish fry & old fashioned! I also tried the clam chowder which was excellent. The food is clearly homemade. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and the fresh ciabatta bun really kicked it up a notch. The service was very good too. We will definitely be back! read more

Three of us ordered White Fish dinners. For two of us, the fish was really good. However, fish for the third was spoiled; it was slimy on the bottom and dark and tasted like rotting fish. The awesome server attempted to make it right. However, the cook was uncooperative and begrudgingly cooked another fillet. The mash potatoes were cold. I have driven by this place many times when I travel to Marquette. I had always thought about stopping, but I finally did. It was a really good choice. A nice selection of different items on the menu. Service was very friendly, and it was clean! I will have to make it a regular stop when traveling through Marquette. For the options available in this neck of the woods, this was great! We wanted to try some local foods and we were jonesing for some appetizers. We were staying in Gwinn, about 15 min away. We had a pasty and poutine for our appetizers. For meals, we tried cudighi (without the roll) and the crab stuffed whitefish. Our server was friendly and helpful. UPDATE: Stopped in twice this month and the bitch waitress is apparently gone. In fact, the whole waitstaff appears to be new, with the exception of Nick. Great local restaurant. Stopped in at Visitors Center and was told about the crab stuffed whitefish from center employee. Was told it was the best in the area and it did not disappoint. We love asking locals where to go and this was our recommendation. It was better than expected and the service was amazing! My husband tried something different with the Rueben pizza and was pleasantly surprised. My youngest daughter who tries every clam chowder says this rivals Pike's Place Chowder in Seattle - a feat she didn't think was possible. My son was reluctant to try a pasty at a place that was not specifically for pasties - but found it to be top notch. My middle daughter got a BLT (her restaurant favorite) and there was no skimping on the amount of bacon. I had the lake perch (from Superior) and like finding locally sourced fish on the menu. We went at 2:00 pm on Friday and the place was quite busy between the normal rushes. Nick did a fabulous job single-handedly keeping everyone well served. This Used to be our favorite place for breakfast in Sunday. Recently something has changed. Initially we thought that maybe it was just a bad stretch but that is definitely not the case. Slow food - Four Sundays in a row it has taken over an hour to get our food. Now to be fair, two of those Sundays were pretty busy but the other two had at least two or three empty tables and no one at the bar. Terrible eggs - three of the four Sunday's I ave asked for "sunny side up" eggs. Three times now they have been burned on the bottom and raw on top. The waitress this time told me that she even reminded the cook to pay attention to these because of my previous experiences. Cold Food - twice now one of the plates had ice cold food while the others were hot. Incorrect orders - each time something is missing or incorrect ex: wrong toast, no sausage, incorrect omelette etc. Service - the girls working are always working hard and very apologetic they are really good given what they are dealing with. No manager!? - when I have asked to speak to the manager I have been told that they can call them if I would like? Mystery solved? All in all we are really saddened to abandon an old favorite but bad is just bad and not what we are looking for on a Sunday morning. read more

First of all we stood at the door for a few minutes before we were greeting and a guy behind the bar said you can sit any where in the bar area as the dinning area is having a party, yet they were only taking up one section. Once we picked a seat a nice guy took our order and was on top of what we needed. The pasty were huge and my husband enjoyed them. The cole slaw was different but very good. The whitefish was a little fishy in taste but the crab stuffing was good. read more

It's been a few years since I've been here (I've moved downstate) and it's as good as I remember! My parents shared a meat lovers pizza which they said was delicious. My brother had the fishwich (fish sandwich) which he enjoyed but said it wasn't as good as last time. My pepper jack burger on the other hand was fantastic! I love the decor in the place. Makes you feel like you're in a nice wooden cabin but the food was absolutely delicious. From the outside, you would not think they'd have an extensive menu but they really shocked me. I got the Dumas Walker which is like a pulled pork sandwich and it was immaculate! I've been here twice with differing experiences. Once for Friday Fish Fry. It was crowded and a bit noisy, but not in a bad way. The fish was quite good and the service easily competent. I might go again, but my second experience turned me off to the place. The second time was late on a weekday evening. I had just flown back home to Marquette and my wife and I stopped in on the drive home. The one person working, while totally aware of us, was non-responsive to our needs, and surly to dismissive when we asked questions. At one point I even said to him "Seriously?!" when he snickered at us. Perhaps we weren't the usual types who go there, but that does not justify the treatment we got. To add insult to injury, the sandwich I got was horrible. You take your chances. read more

Visiting my family in Marquette, I was looking for a casual bar with great food. YELP has never steered me wrong, so I decided to try Crossroads Bar. Yelpers you've done it again. This place was great. This place is huge. It has a bar side and a restaurant side. Both families and individuals were here. The food was excellent! The waiter asked if there was anything missing and my reply was, "Only more napkins could make this pulled pork better." Actually, there was a tad too much sauce, but in my book, too much is better than not enough. My husband had the Cuban sandwich which he shared a bite with me. It was a little unconventional since every other Cuban that I've had has roast pork and ham with Swiss and pickles. This one had chicken, instead of the pork, and boy was it good. Side salad was cold, crisp and fresh. The waiter was johnny on the spot, but I didn't get his name. Everything here was great. Got there.....only 2 servers were there.....zero tables were arranged for us and then hubby had to help set them up!!!!! Pretzel sticks were good....BUT they serve them with Jalapeno cheese and no place on that menu does it say anything but cheese. When I asked to have plain cheese......they didn't have any. We have eaten here a few times, and have had decent food. Today 2 orders of biscuits and gravy took more than an hour. The waitress felt if she didn't come everything would be ok. Several tables waited for over an hour for breakfast. A simple notification to the customers as to the wait time would have solved everything, we could have waited knowing the wait or went to another restaurant. We love the Crossroads and make the drive out there from Negaunee quite often. I'm not a native Yooper but I've lived here enough years to know a good pasty when I eat one and they've got the best I've ever had. I can't put my finger on what makes them best but there delicious! Hubs like their fish fry on Fridays. I'm not a fan of fish but he swears they have the best fry around. We like to take our grand kiddos with us out there. Portion sizes are large and prices are reasonable enough for us to take them to. Happened on his place as we were traveling on the local snowmobile trails, and saw a sign for food. We were pretty hungry, so we chose blindly. Plus, the trail literally takes you to the parking lot. The food was amazing! As was the service. Seriously, no complaints. I had the open-faced roast beef sandwich served over mashed potatoes (my mouth is watering just thinking of it), and my hubby tried the cheesesteak. It seemed as if everything was homemade, and fresh. Slaw was really good, creamy and sweet. Definitely recommend Crossroads! This place is seriously great. The atmosphere and interior is cozy enough, don't be turned off by the outside appearance. Our server Nick did a great job doing seemingly everything but cook the food -- great drinks, attentive service, helpful advice about the area. Food was spot on too! Our group of 8 tried various burgers and sandwiches all seasoned pretty well and the coleslaw is an amazing combination of sweet, bitter, and peppery. Wasn't a huge fan of their pub chips, but their fries and mash are still good options! Crossroads is definitely worth the drive out of town for the prices, service, and food. read more

Awesome restaurant. They have a full bar, some TV's, and A LOT of tables. Their pizza is one of the best I've ever had. My family has eaten here for years and we are glad to see the improvements to the building and to the menu. So here are some comments on the items we've had. - The pizza is excellent here. A medium thickness crust pizza with really good flavor from the sauce and cheese. We usually get just a plain cheese or the supreme pizza. - The breadsticks with pizza and the garlic-cream cheese spread is excellent. I may get attacked by Portside loyalists for saying this, but I think the Crossroads Breadsticks are better than the famous Portside breadsticks in Marquette. The breadsticks are more doughy and more moist than the Portside ones. - The Pasties are good--in my top 5 list. Not dry like some are and a good portion. - I really like the Longhorn Burger. It is a solid burger and really filling. It has lots of great flavor with the toppings and their BBQ is excellent. - The waffle fries are great too. - It is a great breakfast place too. Overall, this is a great local restaurant with some signature items. It is a blue-collar setting but the food is above average and a place worth eating at. The atmosphere is country/rustic/lodge and the service and staff are great. I rate the food at 4 stars, service at 4 stars and the price point at 4 stars. I am definitely a repeat customer. read more
