In October 2019, 3 months after my husband suddenly passed away, the internet quit working. I called Spectrum and was told that because the modem was not theirs, they could not diagnose the problem. Knowing Jeff's computer shop was close, I went over in person and explained the problem. Jeff came to the house later that afternoon. First, he said it was not the modem. Almost THREE hours later, he decided it WAS the modem. The following day he brought one and installed it . The bill was $440. The modem he installed might have been used, as it did not have a box. In any case, December 2019, the modem died. Being wiser (and poorer) now, I called Spectrum to come and install one of their modems (free). Its been working since. read more

As you can tell by my rating, I would never recommend their service, nor would I ever hire them for anything else. The communications was bad and the work was sub-par. The work I needed was never done and they had my equipment for 3 weeks and I never received a call. If you need computer work done, my advise is to go somewhere else. I've been using Jeff's Computer Service for years and have had nothing but positive experiences there. Jeff and his team are knowledgeable, friendly and always take time to answer any questions I may have. Jeff's is a bit more expensive than the big businesses, but it's a no-brainer for me to pay a bit more to support a local business and get a more personable experience. As the 'neighborhood geek', I am constantly being asked for opinions, information and time to troubleshoot/repair several of my neighbors' and their kids' PCs. While I love helping, life is getting busier and I just don't have the time to allocate that I used to. My usual response is "Take it to Jeff's" with full confidence that they will have a positive experience, and each time I have been re-affirmed by their comments. As an aside; the negative review about the laptop DVD reads to me as kid who is looking for the cheapest way out. The section about having to put it together at the store by himself, but yet having the tech open the laptop? This puzzles me since it was originally quoted as parts + installation. The sarcasm and scattered statements within the review speaks volumes, so I'll just leave it at that and let the rest of the review speak for itself. Bottom line - If you're looking for the cheapest solution and you've got the technical know-how then Jeff's may not be the place for you. If you don't mind paying a little bit more for the reasons stated and having that peace of mind, go to Jeff's. read more

I had been here twice, each time they prefer talking with some irrelevant friends they have in the shop for five minutes before talking with me, a customer, leaving me just standing there staring at them. The first time I made sure they do provide disk cloning service for 49, and second time when I come back with my disks, the shop owner told the receptionist they would charge 99 for that. WTF. They give me an impression that the owner really doesn't care about their business. read more

My family and I have used Jeffs for years! He built my laptop before I went to college and it is still going strong after four years! He is very quick to answer question and even remote logged into my laptop while I was away at school. My parents use him for their home computers as well and we highly recommend. read more

I ha my Dell Inspiron totally refurbished by Jeff's and I'm so happy. They are all so nice , friendly, thorough, knowledgeable, and efficient ! When u pick up your computer they walk u thru everything which is great as I'm not very "techy". And the price is reasonable. I will definitely bring all of our family laptops here ! read more

Jeff's computer service sucks. If you don't want to read below, don't. Just DO NOT use Jeff's Computer Service. Well ok, here's the deal. Are you approximately 60 to 80 years old? Do you have grandchildren? Do you use the amazing browser known as internet explorer? Are you on aol.com? Are you using dialup or frontier dsl? If so, jeff's computer service is probably right for you! Maybe they can help rid your 7 year old dell desktop of all the crapware, spyware, and viruses you have inadvertently installed over the years. All joking aside, here's my experience with them: Basically the internal dvd-drive/cd-burner (slot load) for my dell laptop crapped out on me and I had them order a new one for me. Every other part I would usually order myself but I couldn't find what I needed on Dell's support website so I had them order it for me. In retrospect this was a bad decision and I've since found a nice 3rd-party-dell-laptop-parts-vendor-website. Jeff: "it's 150 dollars and this includes installation." So, the drive came in 2 days late [in other words, two days after he said it would come in]. Whatever. not a big deal. I went in one afternoon to pick it up and get it installed in my laptop. I ended up doing the entire installation (myself) in the back room. The guy they had working there (really nice kid by the way, and it's clear he knows some things about computers, i have no complaints about him) was a little hesistant on taking apart my laptop. It's clear he had never taken apart a dell xps laptop before, because he started off by removing a crap-ton of unnecessary screws from the bottom of the laptop, started off removing the harddrive for no reason, but most importantly just started without thinking. HELLO -- it's called ESD = ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. you need to begin by grounding the motherboard by pressing the power button and touching metal occasionally. you can damage crap if you don't. he also asked me what he needed to remove and i was like screw it i'll do this (i had done it before). to be fair, you have to remove a LOT just to get to the internal dvd+-Rw to remove it. to make a long story short, i asked for some consideration on the installation cost and Jeff's secretary up front lady / whatever she does was a complete B about the whole thing, and Jeff ignored me the whole time. He literally didn't speak to me the whole time I was there. To make a short story long (lol) , I paid 150 dollars for a drive i later come to find out cost around 70 bucks to buy from a 3rd party dell parts vendor website. 150-70 = 80 bucks. Let's call 50 bucks of that 80 bucks 'installation cost' and 30 bucks of that 80 bucks normal markup. I asked for some consideration, a small percentage off, on the installation cost since I ended up installing the entire drive. They argued it was a done deal since i had already paid (of course they charged my credit card the day i placed the phone call inquiring about the drive). The secretary lady: "you're all set. you're all set. you're all set. you're all set. you're all set. you're all set. you're all set." (literally that many times) on top of all of this *Insert cuss word here*, im pretty sure the optical drive is a refurbished unit, had scratches on it and makes some really funny noises in the process of reading discs. it's literally been over a week since this happened and i'm still mad. over charging, bad customer experience, possibly refurbished unit, horrible customer service, installation guy who (while nice) should have had the gosh-darn SERVICE MANUAL in front of him if he had never taken apart a slotload drive from a dell xps before (it isn't easy). AND LEARN TO GROUND THE FREAKING MOTHERBOARD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Electrons are nasty creatures. THERE IS JUST SO MUCH FAIL HERE. if i keep away only one customer from using them, i will sleep better at night and feel that all is right with the world. maybe i should fix your computer for free just to prevent you from using them? My elderly father needed a lot of work on his computer. I was going to drop it off to be fixed but when Jeff heard my dad couldn't drive and lived near by- he offered to pick it up. He did a great job and even delivered it back to him and set it up. Fast, easy and a huge help!! read more

I have used Jeff Computer Repair for many years. Both for my home computer, and as our regular computer tech for all of the computers at my office. It took trying several differet computer specialists for the office before finally find Jeff"s. He has done an absolutely AMAZING job for us at all times. We have recommended him to all of our family and family friends thoughout the years. He has never failed to solve any of the problems we have encountered over the years, and has always responded ASAP, which is extremely important considering our office becomes completely "shut-down" whenever the computers go down. He has always taken care of my home computer, and both of my laptops as well, even following the destruction of one due to a horrific computer virus encountered on the internet. I cannot say enough for the peace of mind Jeff"s has provided to my family over the years - something I would pay any amount of money for, and certainly even more than Jeff's has ever charged us. On a side note, concerning the previously bad review written here as commented on by the second reviewer, the tone (and inmmaturity) of the review speaks for itself. I have no doubt in my mind that the actual facts about what happen would very likely describe an entirely different version of events. DON'T GO HERE! So I go to Jeff's because my pc that's 1 year old went blank(no signal on screen). Unit still runs ok. The counter lady plugs it in using the on-board jack ( I had it into the video card), and gets a signal. great ,looks like it just needs new video card, but she say's "we should run a complete diagnostic just to make sure" sounded like a good idea, Stike #2 (#1 was bringing it there) Jeff calls me a week later after I called them first to see what was up. Jeff says "you need a new Hard Drive 250 bucks" Told him to hold on, after all, your counter lady had it running. He said "she did.....well she must have gotten lucky, you never know what computers will do" Uh-Huh I see, Strike#3 So I got it out of there asap and brought it home, called my brother who lives in FL and has a computer service called web desk and who had built this thing for me. He instructs me how to check the vc and low and behold, the heat sink on it is bad. Replaced it and everything works. He gets on remotely from FL and cleans it up for me, you know, to many files no room on HD, tool bars, Registry errors , Defrag, the works. That's all it needed. A $60 video card and a good scubbin. Hey JEFFY BOY.... it DID NOT NEED A NEW HARD DRIVE! Another well deserved strike I Had a similar experience once before with these people, I feel they will try to take advantage of folks, especially if your not sure what goes on in that magic box. for me, that was well over 3 strikes and Jeffy, you are out of here (and hopefully out of our town someday) read more

Abysmal customer service. Main female clerk very rude. They charge and overcharge you every step of the service, and even then it's iffy if your computer works at the end. Avoid like the plague. read more

I was not happy with the service I received at Jeff's for my son's laptop. If you want a status you will need to call them.. they will not call you to tell you what is going on with your machine. Even after telling them what the issue was (back door virus) I still had to bring it back twice to get it fixed. Both times it was a 4-5 day wait. Debby that runs the PC service should take a course in customer service. I could go on & on here but one meeting and you will understand. I said to wipe the drive when I returned I was told that I didn't want the drive wiped so I would be charged more ... I disagreed and after a good argument I was able to pay the lesser amount however only part of the data was stored so I am glad I didn't pay more to have my info saved! If you look it up on line with any back door virus your computer DOES need to be wiped clean and reformatted. We are still having issues with the laptop that is only a year old. I would not bring my computer to Jeff's to be cleaned of viruses. read more
