That said, I've chosen not to return, and here's why: there's a Confederate flag displayed on the sign outside. For me, that symbol represents a legacy of division and oppression that I can't look past -- especially in a state that fought for the Union during the Civil War. It's a personal choice, but I believe it matters. If the flag weren't there, this would probably be one of my favorite local spots.
