Delicious Korean bbq short ribs. Service was wonderful. The young lady who took my order was very knowledgeable on what food I should get at a first timer. The place was Very clean and comfortable to enjoy. My order was to go but I will definitely be back.

We came here after a disappointing experience at another local restaurant. And lemme tell you that was the best decision we made that day. We were greeted instantly by the owner Kevin and server Katie. Super kind and funny ppl. They kept us laughing and we all were chatting it up. We ordered the Galbi, pork bowl, spicy chicken, and mandu. All were pretty good. Definitely one of the best service I received when visiting Monterey! I recommend this place to people looking for a comfy meal!

Super friendly staff, the menu is super straight forward and they have a lot of options to pick from. As with everything in Downtown Monterey, it's all street parking. Got the spicy pork bulgogi and it was pretty good! From the time I placed my order to when I received it, it was probably around 5-10 minutes, and that's on a Saturday evening. Wasn't totally impressed with the banchan just based off of the variety and the portion sizes.

Came in right at opening during the weekend of the Monterey Bay Half Marathon. Restaurant staff are super friendly and personable. Food was good and we were offered extra starters to try. Restaurant itself had a homey vibe and the staff love to have conversations with you. Food was also really good, well balanced with some complimentary banchan.

Finally got to try this place. Last time we were in town, went midweek not realizing it is closed on Wednesday.... But made it on the weekend. Met the owner who was nice, funny and friendly (we actually arrived a bit earlier than the opening hour for dinner and he opened up early so the little one didn't get restless or cold waiting outside). There is a high char option. Got to try the beef bulgogi with the banchan and it was delicious; the toddler scarfed down the meat and rice so it was a hit. Husband tried the spicy chicken bulgogi and he enjoyed it. We also tried the tea which was good... looking forward to our next trip there

In town for (another) baseball tournament. We had a 5pm game and it was freezing! My son and I really wanted hot comforting food to warm our cold bodies and decided to try Bulgogi House. Pros- Emilio our server was awesome! He was super welcoming and provided really top notch service (note to owners- you're lucky to have him!) I was really impressed in how he interacted with the tables. The restaurant is super small, but it's still a lot of work for one person to manage the 4-5 tables they have plus the countertop area. The beef bowl had good flavor and our appetizer of pork katsu was also good. Not quite Korean, but comforting just the same. Cons- the ramyeon was basically instant ramen for $11 bucks. It did serve its purpose and it warmed us up on a cold night, but I can get a lot of instant ramen, even the more trendy and upscale (for lack of a better description) brands aren't that pricey for one serving! We did add an egg as well as the dumplings, so that made it nicer than just cooking the instant pack! Of course... it also increased the price too! My son did say that the dish is always instant ramen, but I still found it the most disappointing part of our dinner.

Hidden Gem with Heart and Flavor! I stumbled upon this cozy little Korean BBQ spot and was instantly charmed. The staff were incredibly kind--even though they were short-staffed, they welcomed us in without hesitation. You could really feel the hospitality. As a Korean, I can honestly say the food reminded me of home. The bulgogi was rich, flavorful, and just like something my mom would make. A standout surprise? They let us try some dishes we didn't even order--fried oysters included, which were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The space is small but lovely, with a warm, family-style atmosphere that makes you feel cared for. Bonus: there's an ice cream shop just down the road, so you can finish the night with something sweet. Authentic, heartfelt, and delicious--I'll definitely be back!

Somewhat limited menu to keep It simple but it is definitely worth a visit because they taste great! Our favorites are the beef bulgogi and the kalbi ribs. Service is excellent! Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We had the chance to meet the owner and he, too, was friendly and chatty. We love supporting small businesses. The place is cozy and located along Alvarado.

We had a wonderful experience here! The food and service was top notch. Katie was our server and she was delightful, attentive, and just overall amazing. We met the owner, Kevin, and he made the experience so fun and so personal for us. I can't wait to come here again!

We certainly got our monies worth at this location. The food was very good and so was the service. I really enjoyed the Ramen and Mandu. My wife's food, the chicken bulgogi plate had very nice flavor to it. I enjoyed my spicy chicken bowl but the spice level was too spicy for me. I love spicy food but this chicken got the best of me. I still loved the food regardless.

The restaurant is located on the lowest level of the Carmel Plaza, I really loved the location because there are plenty of places to park right around there. Between the two of us, we shared: - Miso cacio e pepe: we came specifically for this! It's one of their most well known dishes, and I highly highly recommend! So creamy and savory, and the mafaldine pasta has such a nice texture, the ruffled edges hold on to sauce perfectly. We also added a bit of gochujang that came with the bibimbap and it was so good with some spice. - Dolsot bibimbap: my husband's favorite Korean dish so of course we had to get it! An excellent variety of veggies, which was nice since we barely got any veg on vacation. The kalbi beef was so juicy and delicious, and not overcooked. - Matcha Tiramisu: absolute must get, so unique. The cake layers were soaked in matcha, and topped off with some fresh fruit. - Grapefruit sake spritz: I was on the fence between this cocktail and the yuzu champagne spritz. Our waitress said that the grapefruit spritz was much less sweet, and I am so glad I decided to go with that option! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, not overwhelming. Overall, my husband and I agreed that the matcha tiramisu was the best bite either of us had all weekend!

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, and we were so happy to see such a wide variety of Korean dishes on the menu. The three of us really enjoyed the food, especially because there were many dishes that are not easy to find in the U.S. Everything was generous, flavorful, and tasted homemade, just like Korean food should. My mother especially loved the kimchi and said it was much better than the kimchi we usually buy at the market, so we even purchased some to take home. Honestly, the food was so delicious that even compared to what we would eat in Korea, we had absolutely nothing to complain about. Everyone who worked there was also incredibly kind and welcoming, which made our meal even more enjoyable. We, Chinese tourists, apparently purchased the special invisible customer package. We asked for a menu and received no response. We tried to order additional dishes and were ignored again. It was impressive how quickly the owner could notice white customers while suddenly losing both hearing and eyesight whenever Chinese customers spoke. When we continued asking for basic service, the owner became aggressive and threatened in Chinese to slap a Chinese customer in the face. Then, in a remarkable display of hospitality, the owner blamed and accused the customer. Apparently, asking for a menu and trying to spend more money at the restaurant are now serious acts of misconduct. This was not merely slow or careless service. The owner treated Chinese customers differently, deliberately ignored us, bullied us, and then used a threat of physical violence to intimidate us. The owner seemed comfortable targeting Chinese tourists, perhaps assuming that visitors would remain silent because they were unfamiliar with the area. Calling this restaurant "China Garden" is the best joke of the entire experience. Chinese food, Chinese name, and open hostility toward Chinese customers. Perhaps "White Customers Garden" or "No Service for Chinese Tourists" would be a more honest name. Congratulations to the owner for creating a dining experience where discrimination and threats arrive faster than the food. If you are white, you may receive normal service. If you are Chinese, based on our experience, expect to be ignored, bullied, blamed, and threatened for having the audacity to ask for a menu.
