Delicious Korean bbq short ribs. Service was wonderful. The young lady who took my order was very knowledgeable on what food I should get at a first timer. The place was Very clean and comfortable to enjoy. My order was to go but I will definitely be back.

Super friendly staff, the menu is super straight forward and they have a lot of options to pick from. As with everything in Downtown Monterey, it's all street parking. Got the spicy pork bulgogi and it was pretty good! From the time I placed my order to when I received it, it was probably around 5-10 minutes, and that's on a Saturday evening. Wasn't totally impressed with the banchan just based off of the variety and the portion sizes.

Came in right at opening during the weekend of the Monterey Bay Half Marathon. Restaurant staff are super friendly and personable. Food was good and we were offered extra starters to try. Restaurant itself had a homey vibe and the staff love to have conversations with you. Food was also really good, well balanced with some complimentary banchan.

Finally got to try this place. Last time we were in town, went midweek not realizing it is closed on Wednesday.... But made it on the weekend. Met the owner who was nice, funny and friendly (we actually arrived a bit earlier than the opening hour for dinner and he opened up early so the little one didn't get restless or cold waiting outside). There is a high char option. Got to try the beef bulgogi with the banchan and it was delicious; the toddler scarfed down the meat and rice so it was a hit. Husband tried the spicy chicken bulgogi and he enjoyed it. We also tried the tea which was good... looking forward to our next trip there

Hidden Gem with Heart and Flavor! I stumbled upon this cozy little Korean BBQ spot and was instantly charmed. The staff were incredibly kind--even though they were short-staffed, they welcomed us in without hesitation. You could really feel the hospitality. As a Korean, I can honestly say the food reminded me of home. The bulgogi was rich, flavorful, and just like something my mom would make. A standout surprise? They let us try some dishes we didn't even order--fried oysters included, which were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The space is small but lovely, with a warm, family-style atmosphere that makes you feel cared for. Bonus: there's an ice cream shop just down the road, so you can finish the night with something sweet. Authentic, heartfelt, and delicious--I'll definitely be back!

In town for (another) baseball tournament. We had a 5pm game and it was freezing! My son and I really wanted hot comforting food to warm our cold bodies and decided to try Bulgogi House. Pros- Emilio our server was awesome! He was super welcoming and provided really top notch service (note to owners- you're lucky to have him!) I was really impressed in how he interacted with the tables. The restaurant is super small, but it's still a lot of work for one person to manage the 4-5 tables they have plus the countertop area. The beef bowl had good flavor and our appetizer of pork katsu was also good. Not quite Korean, but comforting just the same. Cons- the ramyeon was basically instant ramen for $11 bucks. It did serve its purpose and it warmed us up on a cold night, but I can get a lot of instant ramen, even the more trendy and upscale (for lack of a better description) brands aren't that pricey for one serving! We did add an egg as well as the dumplings, so that made it nicer than just cooking the instant pack! Of course... it also increased the price too! My son did say that the dish is always instant ramen, but I still found it the most disappointing part of our dinner.

We had a wonderful experience here! The food and service was top notch. Katie was our server and she was delightful, attentive, and just overall amazing. We met the owner, Kevin, and he made the experience so fun and so personal for us. I can't wait to come here again!

Somewhat limited menu to keep It simple but it is definitely worth a visit because they taste great! Our favorites are the beef bulgogi and the kalbi ribs. Service is excellent! Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We had the chance to meet the owner and he, too, was friendly and chatty. We love supporting small businesses. The place is cozy and located along Alvarado.

We certainly got our monies worth at this location. The food was very good and so was the service. I really enjoyed the Ramen and Mandu. My wife's food, the chicken bulgogi plate had very nice flavor to it. I enjoyed my spicy chicken bowl but the spice level was too spicy for me. I love spicy food but this chicken got the best of me. I still loved the food regardless.

For dinner we decided to try this place out. This place is small and had about 4 tables for dine-in. My boyfriend ordered the chicken bowl and I ordered the beef w/egg yolk bowl. Both dishes were really tasty and they both came with 3 side dishes of banchan: kimchee, Korean broccoli and fish cakes. Overall, food was delicious but it was on the pricy side. Service was attentive and friendly.

Doesn't look like much when you pass it because it's a small little restaurant in the middle of downtown. If you take two extra steps, you'll miss it! Even if you take those 2 extra steps, you'll still smell the delicious smell of Bulgogi. The menu is small. There aren't very many options but different types of Bulgogi. The prices were a little high but hey, it was about the experience. I would suggest to get some extra rice with any dish you get. The tea was delicious as well as the appetizers.

The kimchi jjigae here is comfort in a bowl. The broth is rich and tangy, with just the right amount of spice. The tofu and pork belly were tender and flavorful, and the portion was filling. It's the perfect dish for a chilly day.

Perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned chicken - or sauced, depending on what you're going for. The breading is so crispy you get that good crunch when you bite into a wing or drumstick! The Food Lineup: * Chicken Fried rice for my daughter and it was so adorable because they made it into a shape of a heart. Love the attention to detail! * Sodduk Sodduk - 10/10! I'm a sucker for tteok so to have it in skewer form with mini sausages was a treat. The outside was kinda crunchy and the inside was nice and chewy. Loved it! * Dduk Bok Gi - not spicy so I absolutely loved it. The sauce I was slathering on top of my rice and dipping some of my K-Honey chicken in it. Yum! * K-Honey Chicken was so good! The chicken had a super crunchy outside and the inside was so juicy. I kept scraping up the sauce from the tray to get every bit. Definitely a 10/10! I loved this place and would definitely come back. Also thought the bathroom art work was hilarious. IYKYK.

I wanted something to drink that wasn't sweet, so I tried their raspberry ice tea. They used a sugary syrup to flavor the tea, and that was a strike out. It was sweeter than a soda, so it went back and I swapped it out for a plain unsweetened ice tea. Then we tried the cheesy garlic bread, which we were really looking forward to. Welp, it came out with mozzarella cheese and a ton of corn. No butter. No garlic. We all looked at each other when we tried it. Ok, let's try their brussel sprouts. Those are hard to mess up - but sure enough, they managed to. They deep fried them to the point they were black and charred. There wasn't anything left of the brussel sprout itself, it was mostly crunchy charcoal. At this point, we all ordered something we assumed would be safe for our main. I got the sliders and a side salad. I had the salad but only of the sliders. The cheese on it was queso, like you use to dip chips, so it was ran all over the place and the burger was a grease ball. I won't even get into what everyone else had, but they had similar experiences. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there are other things or other times where this place is better, but it was a swing and a miss for us.

If you order the angus steak and the New York steak, they come with the best of both worlds for side dishes. I kinda had a feeling I was gonna like the digs here. They grill here. Over this massive open charcoal/wood grill. 2 cooks back there, engulfed in a waft of smoke and fire. They must have put a fresh batch of meat on that grill as that grill top was covered every square inch. They only grill 2 meats: chicken on the bone and carne asada. They also grill whole red onions and serrano peppers to go with those char grilled meats. 1/2 Chicken Combo ($15/4*) Upon receiving, it almost looks burnt. But upon tasting no bitter burnt notes just extremely well manufactured char. The chicken is marinated in something. Probably a seasoning salt and maybe a touch of lime. Nothing is spicy or peppery just a salty, charred chicken flavor. I liked it but I think I like El Pollo Locos version a tad more. As that is more slowly rendered where the skin gets crisp and there's more of a buttery nuance in El Pollo Locos version. I hate saying I'm siding with a big corporate but chicken-wise they've got the edge. Now where this place beats any chain are in the sides and details. First the freshly charred onions and serranos that go with most meat orders are damn perfect. Soft and easy to break apart, inherent flavors intensified from the grilling and the char-y notes that you can control cuz you can add as much of the burnt layer or as little. And the rice, beans and salsas here are real Mexican cooking, nothing fast and ready made. Fresh from scratch with ethnic soul. Carne Asada Combo ($27/5*) This is a full pound of freshly grilled Carne Asada (thin and marinaded meat), no rice or beans just warm corn tortillas, salsas, pickled onions and those charred onions and peppers. Upon receiving I felt like a kid who got his first gift from Santa. First they gave me the warm tortilla holder and all the condiments. I could have made a meal with those alone. Then the biggest pile of freshly grilled steak I've ever seen get served to me at one time. The aroma was intoxicating and was superseded by getting a taste. A little heavy handed on the seasoning but damn did that grilled meat flavor hit you like a bat. Slightly smoky with charred hits and THE most juicy and tender carne asada I've ever had. Usually the preparation can yield tough and overcooked meat but not here, there is some wizardry involved. I was putting whole pieces of meat in a rustic cowboy taco and you could still bite through the taco effortlessly. That's some serious mojo they are messin' with. I actually found a combo for the perfect steak taco here. Warm tortilla base; cut up and throw some charred peppers and onions; throw enough carne asada on there to your heart's intent; a few dabs of their tomato salsa with the charred flecks; then finally a generous sprinkling of their pickled red onions to gild the lily. THE BEST carne asada taco I've ever had. And I've had hundreds if not thousands. Trust. We just finished a substantial hike and was on route to a camping weekend. Had enough leftovers that we didn't have to cook on the first night, just heated things in foil over camp fire. They conveniently catered and we relished and feasted. A fiver relationship if I ever heard of one.

We usually get the Whole Chicken Combo. It is not possible to get only white or dark meat. The chicken is "slick" enough that even the white meat is good. There is some char on the outside and the skin is cooked nicely. It comes with a few tortillas (can pick flour or corn), 2 kinds of salsa (spicy red and chipotle based), and pickled onions. Roasted hot peppers (yes, they have some heat!!) and onions are a nice touch. The whole chicken isn't too large. Sides are Spanish Rice (great flavor, but seemed a bit hard), seasoned whole beans (tender and flavorful). It's enough for a family of 4 with little kids. But you might think about ordering more if you have more adults or older kids. We also got a guacamole (loaded with onions, tomatoes) and chips. Guacamole is fresh and creamy. You'll love it if you like the style with extra stuff added. Chips are thin and oh-so-greasy, in a good way. Kids loved the extra colors. Portion size isn't too big, could probably have ordered an extra one, because you won't want to stop eating them! Overall, a great place to grab a quick dinner. Can't go wrong with this spot!
