I came here with some girlfriends specifically to try the galbi, and it did not disappoint!! It was super tender and flavourful and we shared it between 3 people. Definitely a re-order. I did wish they provided more lettuce to make wraps. We also shared the octopus and the eggplant. The eggplant came recommended by our server even though we had expressed that we didn't like eggplant! Apparently Dylan created this dish for someone (his mom?) who didn't like eggplant either, but grew to love this dish. I thought it was well cooked but not sure I would say it made me love eggplant. The presentation was quite unique as it was served looking like chunks of lava rock. The dill aioli that accompanied the octopus was very flavourful. The entire dish was bright and crisp. Street parking can be hard to find so make sure you allow enough time to look for spots if you're driving.

Jeju has been so hyped on social media since its opening in Vancouver, and reservations at a decent dinner hour are difficult to get even months after. You basically have to log in at 10 am on the first of the month, in order to secure a reservation for the following month. It's pretty much a fight to click faster than other people, with Friday nights and weekends almost impossible to secure unless you really lock in. I ended up getting a 5 pm reservation on a Thursday. Due to the hype, I admit I had high expectations. For our party of 4, we decided to order the octopus, eggplant, short rib, and seafood soup. I heard good things about the seafood soup and of course the short rib. The octopus was ok, but not worth the $32 price tag. It had about 8-10 thin slices dressed with oil. The eggplant ($19) was intriguing to look at, but unfortunately the pieces themselves had almost no flavour. These are essentially pieces of eggplant with shrimp paste on top, coated in a black tempura-like batter then deep fried. The flavour came from the mayo sauce on the side. The seafood soup had a decent amount of soft tofu as well as a lot of seafood, including a wide variety like fish, abalone, squid, prawn, and scallop. The soup also had a decent seafood flavour. However, for $33, I think a traditional Korean restaurant's soup would be better and at a lower price. Finally, the showstopper dish of the night was the short rib. Everyone says this is a must order. The quality of the beef was really good and marbled, and the portion is quite good for 4 to share. There are 3 layers of meat on the plate. It comes with a spicy arugula salad, kimchi bok choy, pickled radish, rice, lettuce and perilla leaf wraps, and a really nice sauce for the meat. Note that all the side dishes that come with it are also refillable (which I did not notice was mentioned on the menu or anywhere). However, I noticed that the table next to us was offered the option to have it torched immediately upon serving, for extra flavour, while we were not offered the same. Anyway, I am glad I tried it, and I would get it again if feeling splurgey but I'm not sure if I would come just for this. Their dessert menu is limited to one item - a deconstructed bingsoo. We did not order it. There is free street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood. I don't think I would come again. For the price tag, I'd expect better service and more dishes to be standout rather than just okay. The dinner felt rushed and the server seemed a bit inexperienced. At the end, the server even dropped a bowl which cracked everywhere. I think it is a try once kind of restaurant, only if you are curious about it.

(super) belated bday celebration for s and i - juggling 3 girls' schedules is hard ok - esp with this restaurant where the resos are as intense as getting BTS tickets (almost). from the outside, the restaurant is almost inconspicuous with a rather plain wooden door. however, the minute you open the door, you're transported into a dim yet cozy space - open kitchen concept so you def get the scents of food wafting into your face that makes you even hungrier than before. very simple menu with a venn diagram to separate the old (mama julie) and the new (the son dylan) - the middle is the blend of the two. there were also seasonal specials on a separate sheet. drinks MUST be had when it's a #90skids outing - s had the clarified bloody mary and i had the vital punch. the vital punch is deceptively refreshing and easy on the palate (read: if you're a lightweight, you can get drunk on this). i had a sip of s' blood mary and that tomato flavour def packs a punch. i had a french75 to end my night, which was well-done now onto the food! we had the eggplant and fig&mascarpone as starters. the eggplant was something that was recommended by my nail tech (shoutout to rana) who has been here before. the presentation was def...different - the eggplant is deep-fried to the point where it resembles a pebble/rock. there were actually more pebbles/rocks inside the bowl to keep the theme together. for anyone that doesn't eggplant, this is the dish for you - once you dip the eggplant into the aioli that it comes with, that eggplant taste is non-existent and there are sneaky (i mean we really just forgot abt it) bits of shrimp inside this wonderful eggplant tempura. the fig was a seasonal dish, and we (once again) clearly forgot that mascarpone is a sweet cheese. it was a little jarring to have this with the savoury eggplant but the fault was all ours. ofc we had to order the infamous galbi - that and s did not approve of us ordering the soondubu or the japchae or the fried rice tho we were pleasantly surprised by the portions of the mentioned dishes as we saw from the other tables. the galbi is a sight to behold - the lettuce (ssam), side dishes (bok choy kimchi shoutout), the rice (perfectly done), the bone (i took that home for my mother to make soup with) and everything else in between. it was juicy, delish, and a must-order. we ended the night on a sweet note (ofc) with the deconstructed bingsu - i think this was only dish that fell a little short of our expectations. we were all expecting a larger portion for bingsu as it is the dessert that is commonly shared among friends. not that it wasn't shareable but...yeah we took instax and was given the cutest bday card that the whole staff signed! not your typical korean restaurant but it is def one that will be on my return list!

I've been hearing about Jeju all over the place, and it was quite difficult to get a reservation with them, too. Luckily, my boyfriend handled the details for my early birthday dinner, so we were able to go last week. The restaurant originates from Jeju Tofino. I love the vibe, it's dark, moody, with red/orange ambient lighting. But of course, there is a bright light right above our heads so that I can take these beautiful snapshots of the food! The server was attentive and friendly. She gave us suggestions on how many dishes to order. She also explained that the left side of the menu was more 'Korean', while the right side was more fusion. The middle contained the two standout meat dishes - the galbi and bossam. However, we had already discussed weeks prior what we planned to order (we were too excited lol). We started with a couple of drinks. I really like the green tea milk punch. It's clarified, but tasted like green tea and chocolate milk. The food arrived lightning fast (one after another), which I loved. For appetizers, we opted for the octopus and tartare. The octopus was unique. Thinly sliced octopus paired with perilla seed oil, aged kimchi, and seaweed was a dance of light, but fragrant flavours in my mouth. I think because of how unique it was, it quickly became one of my favourite dishes that night. The tartare featured gochujang, Korean pear, and hazelnut on top. I thought it was good (with a kick of spice!), but nothing special. Next, the japchae quickly followed. You can't go wrong with japchae at any Korean restaurant, but I think I can safely suggest that you can order this at other restaurants and be just as satisfied. Finally, the star of the night was the 35 day aged galbi. My goodness, this was hefty in price, but it was so, so good. We discussed and agreed that we would rather pay $175 for this than for a steak. We can probably make a good steak at home, but it would be hard to piece together a delicious short rib meal with all the yummy side dishes. The rice was also unexplainably good - I have no idea if it's the particular grain they used, or if it was the way they cooked it. I don't know if I've ever had better plain white rice anywhere else. The restaurant does not have a large dessert selection (only bingsoo), so we opted to get ice cream elsewhere. However, the team put together the cutest birthday card and also snapped a Polaroid memory for us. It was a very sweet touch. Jeju, you have my heart. I will be back!

Great place to come for a celebration or just a regular dinner. Very clean and trendy place. The galbi was 175 dollars but there was plenty of perfectly cooked beef. The pork was 97 dollars and is the best i have ever tried in vancouver. They both come with rice, lettuce and a variety of sides. The waitress was very prompt in refilling our sides. There are so many different ways to eat it, it does not feel like eating the same thing over and over again

    - every dish was soo good. Refined/elevated Korean food & flavours - aside from the expensiveeeee galbi, everything else is fine dining portions (small). Shareable but if you go in a group of 3 or 4 you get like one tiny bite -if you don't want to overspend on dinner, I would recommend coming in a group of 4+ people so you can split the bill and try more dishes. unless I ONLY ordered the galbi and side of rice to share with my fiancee, it's definitely expensive to eat here and wouldn't come just us two -The group debated even ordering the galbi cause dropping $90 on steak seemed alittle CWAZY. I will say it was mind blowing and it comes with soooo many pieces I would say it's worth - order the seafood soup. You can taste how fresh the seafood is (forgot to take a pic) - Food is great, price is steep. I would absolutely come back but definitely not often. For me personally, this is a special occasion/ fine dining place and requires $$$$

After hearing raving reviews about the $175 galbi I finally got the chance to try it after a battle to even get a reservation. They open up a month in advance on the first and it's first come first serve with a fairly strict 2h dining time. The galbi was rich and so tender and paired perfectly with the samjang sauce.

    Sonia K.

Amazing and attentive service, they took a polaroid of me and my partner as we were there to celebrate our anniversary! We ordered the beef tartare and the galbi, both super amazing with clean flavours. I especially loved all the pairings that came with the galbi!

We arrived around 5:30 and were told the wait would be about an hour to an hour and a half. We decided to wait since we weren't hungry yet, and there's a Japanese and Korean supermarket nearby to wander around. Surprisingly, we got a text in about 40 minutes and were seated at a table. I later found out we were very lucky. Apparently they're fully booked until the end of the year, and walk-ins usually only get bar seating. We started with two cocktails: the Clarified Milk Punch and the 5 to 7. Both were excellent. For food, we shared the KFC and the galbi. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) was not bad, the sauce was similar to other places, but the pistachios on top added a nice crunch and extra flavour. The real star of the night was the galbi. It's a 35-day aged prime short rib, and honestly the best galbi we've ever had. I'd come back just for that dish and would 100% recommend it to anyone dining here. For dessert, we tried the bingsu. It was okay overall. The persimmon gelato was the best part. I'd probably skip it next time and either get dessert elsewhere or try something different if they add more options to the menu. Great ambience, lots of street parking nearby, and overall a place I'd return to, especially to try more dishes and to get that galbi again.

One of my favorite meals I've had in Vancouver. The service was amazing and I might never forget the short rib. The other dishes were good (but perhaps nothing out of the ordinary) but the short rib was perfect and stole the show. I can't wait to come back

Service was wonderful and attentive. We were checked on several times and water topped up. The octopus was a nice started - nice and refreshing. The taste was interesting and almost had a nutty hojicha like flavour. The eggplant was piping hot and soft inside and crunchy outside. It didn't have much flavour so benefitted from the dill dipping sauce. The bossam (we couldn't justify $175 for the beef) was delicious. Even though some parts were fattier, it didn't leave a greasy taste. The japchae wasn't anything mind blowing but flavour was on point and the noodles were so chewy. The Thanksgiving milk punch was surprisingly sweet and the apple flavour was prominent and welcoming - easy on the palate. This restaurant is pretty small and seating is a bit closer together but felt cozy. We enjoyed DT trying a variety of items and I think it's better to come with a group (4 people was perfect) to share and try more dishes.

Galbi short rib was absolutely amazing, melts on your tongue.

I hadn't heard about Sooda until this August, when I stumbled upon an ad by a foodie influencer on…read moresocial media who tried the restaurant during their 10th anniversary sale. A lot of items were 30% off which is a pretty good discount considering a lot of their mains are $20-$50. Apparently Sooda is really hyped on google reviews and according to some people online, people line up out the door during the dinner rush. I came here on a friday afternoon near opening time at 12 for lunch with friends. There were only a couple tables occupied at the time. My friends ordered a bulgogi platter. According to the menu, it comes with beef marinated in bulgogi sauce served on a hot plate with cheese, green onions, house made egg-rolls, corn, and rice. It's usually a whopping $49 but with the special 30% anniversary discount it was only around $35 so it was definitely worth it. Our food came in a pretty good time in about 12-15 minutes. The melted cheese was SO GOOD. I love cheese but melted mozzarella is delicious. It's divine. The beef was tasty. I like the bulgogi sauce. It was meant to be mixed with the rice and egg rolls. If you just eat them separately, it's gonna be mid because they have little flavor on their own. I like that they included some small side dishes (banchan) to refresh your taste buds, such as kimchi and pickled radish. It was well needed for such a greasy and salty dish. I really like the vibe and the staff here. They had a couple k-pop music videos playing on the TV and k-pop and pop music playing in the background. The customers at the time seemed to have a good time here. They had some 10th birthday balloons and decorations all over the dining area too. The place is pretty dark with just enough lights and the walls are black which makes the vibe kind of cool. There are some interesting looking giant murals as well Our server was in a happy mood and all smiles. She liked to joke a lot with customers which was great to see. She was happy to answer any questions we had about the menu since it was our first time there. She was the only server at the time so she looked pretty busy. She refilled our waters and asked if everything was good so we felt taken care of. She said thank you, hi and goodbye to everyone in our group as well. Shout out to Seoyoung for being a great server! Washrooms are fine. As far as I know there's only 1 private men's washroom for the entire restaurant but it was pretty clean. A bit cluttered with cleaning supplies but it was clean and spacious. 5 out of 5 stars based on this visit. The 30% off 10th anniversary discount made it really worth coming for the price I paid. I hope they have similar promotions like that in the future. More importantly, the food and staff are great so it's worth checking out.

The food for the other 2 people arrive another 20 mins later. Meanwhile the food for the first 2 ppl just sit there. Thankfully they were in clay pots so it was still warm at least, but this is ridiculous. There is no reason for this. If you're slow to get food out, fine, but bring it all out at once. The restaurant itself is huge, looks like a lounge and bar but mostly empty. The staff are all dressed differently too in street clothes so its hard to tell who works there. They are clearly struggling with understaffing. We had a caucasian waitress who came by to deliver food. She was very nice and friendly. About the food. We ordered: kimchi soondubu - asked for extra spicy, it was barely spicy. beef/seafood mixed soondubu - asked for spicy, it was straight up not spicy. The broth base was the same for each, and lacked depth of flavour. The tofu itself was pretty good, silky smooth, but tofu takes on the flavours of whatever it's cooked with and in this case, not much... The beef in these was just ok and there wasnt much of it. The seafood in the mixed one amounted to 1 clam and 1 shrimp shell-on. There was nothing else in it. 2/5 for both of these. Gamjatang - medium sized portion, good for 2, maybe 3 people. Meat was ok, broth was not bad. Solid average. 3/5. banchan served with the meals were the biggest disappointment. 2/5. This might be the most disappointing banchan ive had in a Korean restaurant in a long time. They served regular cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and bean sprouts. thats it. None of them were particularly good (not bad, just nothing great). And for a party of 4, they served a single portion of each banchan for the whole table. We had to ask for refills 3 more times. You have 4 diners, all with food that comes with Banchan normally. Wouldnt it be reasonable to bring out 4 portions of banchan right off the bat? Especially when you're understaffed? Overall: Main dishes 2.5/5. Banchan 2/5 for overall selection and quality. Service 2/5 - really comes down to severe understaffing and really poor management of how the kitchen is run. The staff there do their best but they need help. Venue 3/5. Overall, 2 to 2.5/5. This place might be the worst Korean place on the Robson strip of all the ones Ive been to. That's saying a lot, since Vancouver doesnt have amazing Korean food to begin with, and this is one of the worst of the bunch.
