I've had my membership for almost 2 years, and never really had a complaint. Tons of versital equipment, separate rooms themed for different needs. Now, the amount of community this gym has is also unreal. Tons of people who are empowered to show there workouts, and recording themselves. (Some people don't like that, but that's okay.) Facebook is busy, Instagram is busy, and there are members of all shapes and sizes. The price is the most I've ever had on a gym membership, but I can't complain due to what's invested back into the gym. Lighting Fitness (South Windsor) - Arguably one of the best gyms in the country, Steel Beach Gym -Oakville, Powerhouse -New Haven. I wish I never gave PSW my business. In response to the owners comment on my review: The only reason I even gave PSW business was because my friend was there. So you got buisness and brought in $ because you had a loyal customer. If it wasn't for my friend being there I wouldn't even step foot into PSW. Everyone has different experiences and you seem to just not listen. It seems as though a lot of people are having the same experiences and instead of changing and actually self evaluating you argue and get defensive on social media. This is a perfect example of what people are talking about. Not only did he put my personal visits on the internet for the public to see but he was so worried he had to look me up in the system. It's interesting that he's so defensive and calling reviews bogus for VALID experiences people had in this gym. With that I will never step foot in this gym and wish I never had in the first place!

I only did the four week trial at a very discounted price because I was living in the area temporarily. However, I have never seen such extreme results in only four weeks time as I did when I took these classes 2 to 3 times a week. The group that I did the classes with felt like a close team and the coaches were extremely welcoming and not intimidating. Physically, I pushed my body in ways I never did before in quick bursts of interval training. Every class was different and I looked forward to each one. The workouts are short and varied enough that you feel like you can at least try anything, and the instructors always give an option to make it a bit easier and a bit harder with each exercise intro. Like I said, I have since moved away but am looking to get involved in a gym like this. It's more pricey than others but worth every penny bc I got way better results practically immediately than any other fitness program I've done.

I was unable to correct it to state the Newington, CT gym. The gym is stating they are part of the Silver Sneakers program, but I checked directly with Silver Sneakers and they are not. Moreover, when I was in the gym checking it out, they were charging a couple $29.99/month each to use the pool. Silver Sneakers rules require member gyms to provide the basic level membership at no cost to the member. The basic level service includes the use of the pool. The gym is also restricting Silver Sneakers hours to 8:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m., again not permitted under Silver Sneakers rules. Management there was uninterested to say the least in correcting this. Seniors stay away from this gym; they are charging for services under the name of Silver Sneakers and are not part of that program.

I followed up via email on March 9, provided my proof of relocation (bank statement) the same evening, and received written confirmation from a GF Fitness representative on March 11 that my account would close after two final payments -- $39.59 on 3/27 and $65.99 on 4/1. His exact words: "After that you are all set and won't have any additional charges." That should have been the end of it. Instead, GF Fitness went completely silent for 2.5 months while continuing to charge my account every single month -- charges I never authorized, for a gym I hadn't stepped foot in since moving. When I followed up on May 28, a different staff member -- apparently with no access to prior correspondence -- sent me the exact same "we need proof of relocation" email from March, as if the entire documented exchange never happened. When I pointed to the March 11 confirmation email, they claimed they "never received" the bank statement. That claim directly contradicts their own written confirmation from two months prior. As of June 2026 -- three months after written confirmation of cancellation -- I am still being charged. I have now sent a formal demand letter citing the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA) and initiated a chargeback dispute with my bank. The gym itself is fine. The staff on the floor were always friendly. But the billing and membership management operation is either deeply incompetent or deliberately predatory. Either way, if you ever need to cancel, get every single thing in writing -- because their word means nothing. I have 14 emails proving that.

This gym includes a huge variety of workout machines and equipment and even has a separate lady's fitness room which is one of the main reasons why I go. Not only does this gym have the work out areas, it also includes 3 stand up and 1 lay down tanning beds for an all year long tan. Another great reason I can live here is they have food! Body building food that is! Lol..Set up with a protein bar, there's options for shakes, bars and drinks galore. Last but not least, after I lift my weights, I like to relax my muscles before I head home and how I do that is with the sauna in the women's locker room. The heat allows me to sweat out all my toxins and its my favorite way to end a workout. The gym also has showers, bathrooms, lockers, body scales and magazines just to add in the little extras to what makes this gym complete.
