We wanted to take our grandkids to this park, we drove 10 hours to get here, our first time at a Jellystone park. We paid for a premium spot which when pulled in it was great!! Then the wind shifted and there is a water treatment plant directly behind us spot 151. The smell of raw sewage is so bad you cant go outside around the extras that we paid for. So for 1500.00 we sit in the camper instead of around the fire pit. They should let people know when booking or put it on the map online indicating the water treatment plant is only 50 yards away or so. Hopefully the wind will shift once again... Other than the smell its a great park, just stay away from the West side of the park. read more

We stayed here as a family and found the amenities to be nice - overall the park was nice. Unfortunately, the cabin we rented was disgusting. It was dirty, poorly maintained, and not at all what we expected for the price! The only staff member who was genuinely helpful and friendly was Dianne at the check-in desk. The rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. I would not recommend paying for a cabin here. If you have an RV, it might be a better value since you bring your own space. Even for what we paid, the food was noticeably overpriced. On top of that, you have to pay extra for bowling and the arcade games, which adds up quickly with a family. A few logistical issues made things more frustrating: the golf cart check-in/out times didn't align with the actual park check-in/out times, which created unnecessary confusion and frustration. My biggest concern was a safety incident where another guest became aggressive and I felt threatened. I had to call the local police, which drew additional and unnecessary attention. I believe there is a need for on-site security for quicker and less criminal situations. Overall, the price we paid did not match the quality of our stay. As it stands, I probably wouldn't return or recommend it for cabin stays (even with a credit). Maybe for RV only if the other issues are addressed. read more

To start with we paid to get in early, and the rain was so bad they closed everything. The only thing we could do is go to the arcade. After spending $75 there on three $25 cards, half the games did not work. Jellystone claims they don't run these games and there was nothing they could do about it. When we finally did get to our room, we had no linens for the pullout couch, which was unliable on anyway. Springs at the surface, just awful. They give you towels, but no washcloths, and we had three kids with us. The next day the weather had improved and they were dying to go to the waterpark. We got there, and only two slides were open the whole time. Then we went to do crafts which charged us, and bowling, which also wasn't up charge. For a 24 hour stay there it was well over $400. Every year we meet our friends before Sturgis at this RV park. It is absolutely amazing! We don't have small kids, but the waterpark looks incredible. They even have sites where you can have two RVs and the center part is where there's a barbecue grill and fire pit if you're traveling with friends which we plan on booking for next year. They accept Amazon deliveries at their main office, which is a little bit of chaos and kind of mixed in someone could take your stuff but we've never had that problem. I don't see how else they could manage it though there are literally hundreds of packages there. They will not allow you to come in one minute early though, which I think is kind of weird if your space is available anyway, but it is what it is. It creates a bit of a bottleneck right at check-in time because it's really hard to be precise down to the hour when you're on the road. The spaces are clean and large. The hook ups are solid. We really enjoy this place and I would recommend it. read more

CAUTION to anyone planning to stay at Jellystone in Larkspur. Im just going to be 100% honest because I'd appreciate it if someone let me know before I spent $500 for 2 nights. It was not worth the cost. Booked the Boo Boo Bear cabin. It was filthy. Dead bugs and an inch thick of dust on every window sil and every corner. No linens, blanket or pillows for the pull out bed, the keurig did not work and no wifi (website says its free but you can't connect and staff was not helpful with this at all). Oh and if your sleeping in the loft bed, get ready for every sunrise and every sunset to be beaming right into your face while your trying to sleep! There are no shades or curtains on the windows! Good luck getting kids to bed with the sun blinding them. On top of that, the large pool closes randomly.. FYI. Everyone is kicked out for random 30 minute "swim breaks" throughout the day. Oh and it was a slap in the face to find out that not only were we not able to use the pool at our leisure but other "amenities" like bowling are closed all week. You can only use that on weekends.. There is a lot of room for improvement needed here and a lot probably has to do with staffing or lack of. Arrived Saturday (check in was 3PM). We stayed in cabin 340 (2 bedroom: queen bed, bunk with full and twin). This cabin is located right next to the recreation building, dog park, & fitness center. There is a patio area off the bedroom containing the queen and also a large sit down patio with table, 6 chairs, gas fireplace pit, & gas grill. On arrival our gas grill looked like it hadn't been cleaned in some time. Here began our first encounter with maintenance. We later would find out our patio light was out (that took 3 attempts to get replaced). Kitchen comes with dining table, 4 chairs, full size fridge, stove top range, microwave, toaster, single cup Keurig, & stocked with the necessities needed for cooking and serving along with dish soap and paper towels. It shares space with mounted flatscreen and a 2 seater couch that is a pull out. Bathroom is single sink, small cabinet containing extra towels (think we had a total of 4 and ended up asking for more which was a 2 call inquiry). It's a shower only setup; there was wall mounted hand soap, body wash, shampoo, & conditioner. These were unfortunately empty on our visit; and part of the three tries to remedy. Before I move on from our cabin we spent the last day of our stay with a broken AC (this took 2 calls; first determined it was working, second overruled the first diagnosis and found the unit was completely unresponsive). They offered to move us but at this point it was our last night and seemed pointless. The pools (there are 2) were very much enjoyed but again staffing was close to nothing. We waited to attempt the pools after crowds started moving out Sunday. The pool did not feel heated beyond what the jacuzzi waterfall poured into it. This pool area contained the outside bar/food offerings. I found the souvenir kids cup drinks pricing very cheap (2 bucks and some change), you could get these at the inside counter. This pool stays open until 10PM. The water zone which is where there is another sitting/kids pool and water park has very limited seating (I'd hate to see this place at capacity). Our group rented a cabana for the whole trip thankfully. I have to say the food we tried from the concession area here was delicious (cheese stuffed bread sticks, funnel cake fries, Buffalo chicken empanadas) and prices weren't bad. The water zone was freezing, I struggled getting accustomed to the water. I also noticed one of the small kids slides was broken, no water pumped into it keeping the slides fully wet and water pooled at end (it did catch water from the drop bucket). This kept it slick so when my daughter went down it she went flying out over the end hurting herself. This area stays open until 6PM. Arcade; don't bother! More than half the games are broken, you can only buy a game card if you have cash from register (the machines that normally distribute those were broken). General store was disappointing in souvenir offerings. I'm sorry I like things more location specific. Golf cart, rent one. I don't know how you can get to everything this location offers without one. Unless your diehard walker (which we did quite a bit). Outdoor sports area; my kids loved the bouncy floor it just was a trek to get to on foot. Activities were very few and again lack of staff made it all very chaotic. Ice cream store (pop up located near recreation building and park) wasn't open Sunday/Monday during our stay. This was extremely disappointing. Not sure if this is normal hours; or just again understaffed. We saw Yogi bear 3 times during our 4 day stay, not once during the activities that were being held (I've heard he does a flag raising at other parks). Gem stone mining; our group purchased the 21 dollar mining bag it contained enough for 4 kids ages 4-10. The mining activity is basically an at your leisure (there are 4 sluice boxes). It's located near the red train and look out tower (both great photo ops). Sadly not sure my family will return to this Jelly stone location. We in total were a group of 18 ( 3 cabins & one rv site). Aside all the hiccups it's a lackluster location in terms of scenery; if you like trains, coal trains are a plenty to hear and watch at ALL hours of the day, and being right off the highway. Trees are almost completely clear cut and gone with many young trees, so in 20 years+ might make this place feel more of a "camp" like location. read more

They were so considerate and kind about us being outnumbered 2.5 kids per parent, and when the coffee maker went out on us Constance made sure we had coffee in hand as quickly as we could walk to the ranger station. When my partner forgot his phone and we were behind on regrouping to check out, they again gave us grace. Staff was okish? They were not friendly really, but did their job. The cabin we stayed in was not very clean..... thank goodness we brought dishes because the dishes that were supplied were dirty. Our air did not work well, we had it set to 68 and it consistently stayed 78-80. The caddy that held the coffee/ creamer was disgusting with dried spilled creamer all over it! The sofa bed was awful! You could feel the springs. And thank goodness we brought a blowup mattress because the pads they have up in the loft area.... I'm pretty sure prisoners have better ones you are honestly better just sleeping on the floor. For the amount they charge you per night these issues should not be there! This is my second time staying here. It is a fun place with a lot of amenities. That being said it is poorly managed. The water park is absolutely frigid even on a 90 degree day. The gate to the park was broken so anyone could come in. The projector is broken so there are no cartoons for the daily activities that are scheduled and no information was sent out about this. The cabins are decent but the most expensive ones have no cooktops and mine was not even clean. The staff does not answer the phone or return messages. The paid wifi is unreliable. The golf cart we got had no working parking break (the park is full of hills and my son got some serious bruises when it rolled back). They advertised a new bbq option but it was never open. I have passed by this location hundreds of times going up and down I-25. It always looks to be just this huge overwhelming park right next to the highway. I never thought I would actually visit this place. However, we rent out our travel trailer and we dropped it off to guests last week. This place is SPOTLESS! And it is beyond organized! You feel like you are literally checking into a national park- that is how professional, efficient, and flawless the system is! There are multiple lanes to pull through with RV's, they are wide, clean, and easy to maneuver. The staff are so friendly, and you get a map to know how to get to a spot. There are over 500 spots!!!! Yup, over 500! There are pull through spots for RV's, back-in, cabins, etc. It is truly its own village! There is this huge water park and pool for guests which is a huge hit, and again....did I mention how spotless this place is?!?!?! After we set up the RV for our guests- we visited the restrooms and store. Everything, including the buildings are clearly marked, very easy to find, and there is lots of selection at the store. The store....is expensive....12.00 for a small bag of chips and 2 fountain drinks. However, you get what you pay for, and the number of staff present at every turn, the organization of the entire facility, and how spotless it is.....that's what you are paying for! Our guests had an amazing time at this park, and they were a party of 11! read more

I love the proximity of this campground and the amenities for families and kiddos! However, there are a few things they could improve. The pool area needs WAY MORE SHADE. There are not nearly enough tables or umbrellas so bring chairs and canopies unless you want to burn in the sun! You can NEVER get anyone to answer the phone or return a call, so don't even try. We tried to get a cabana and getting someone on the phone was impossible. Also, beware the retro band...they will ruin your night with their off-key cover band renditions! My ears still hurt. The check-in process is a mess. We sat in line for about 30 minutes just to get into the park. When we went to get our pre-reserved golf cart, the only person who had keys wasn't there so we had to come back. Really?!?? Then the limo cart we reserved wasn't available. Apparently some drinks wrecked a couple the weekend before. Nice. Instead they just gave us a four-seater and said, sorry! We had to do multiple runs all weekend and the stupid thing wouldn't charge so by the end of the weekend, it barely limped back in to be returned. Otherwise, it's a great park, close to the city and good for a quick trip! Lots of people, close together, loud trains (that I love) and good full hookup spots! Great for kids! read more

We have been here in the rv park for 9 days and love it! That being said, we are with a large group of 400+ rv's that have very few children. I suspect this place might be a bit of a "zoo" when school is out and the place is flooded with children. The facilities are wonderful. The pools are huge and comfortably warm. A nice spa too. There is a miniature golf course and a huge slide for kids. I wish they had better Internet connection (it is almost nonexistent) but lots of cable tv channels available. Despite the expense of around 91 dollars a day to rent a golf cart, we DID rent one because this place is huge! Several nice grassy dog parks Larkspur has just a few restaurants, but Castle Rock is about 20 minutes away with lots. read more

I had planned this trip over a year ago six of us were going three adults three children. I had rented a golf cart for six. I prepaid everything. Got to the resort and was told there were no golf carts available. The park is large and you have to drive every place you go no parking so that is why I decided on a golf cart. I was offered a four person golf cart with no apology. I had to Ask for a refund. The staff acted so nonchalant they were too busy to address any of my concerns. It only gets worse. The website showed that the upstairs loft had two twin beds, which I was counting on since three of the people were children. I ended up with a full-size bed in the loft. Again, please remember I made these reservations the next morning when the three adults were ready to drink coffee there was one coffee cup available. No one answers the phone at the front desk so I had to take the golf cart all the way down to the front desk and get another 2 cups simply to morning coffee. The resort is not inexpensive by any means and a person would expect more from the prices that they charge. If you were planning to go there do not waste your money. I am sure there are other places that are more accommodating. And that the staff actually know what they're doing. Such poor management. Not one person offered me any. Type of compensation for turning a family vacation into a nightmare. Never again never again. read more

I wanted to rate this place 3 stars, but because my kids literally had the best time I felt it deserved an extra star. Since I'm the first to "Yelp" this Jellystone location, I'll start with the positives. Large resort, tons of sites and cabin options. The water park is amazing with a pool attached, and putt putt next door. There is another pool located at the clubhouse. The cabins are brand new, and are immaculate and rather well appointed. Negatives....this place is a full blown free for fall. I will admit we went on Labor Day weekend so, I won't complain about it being packed. The water park allows up to 500 people max and it actually filled up when we were there. People would sit outside the entrance to the water park for an hour prior to opening just to get seats in the water park. On that note, a member of our party waited an hour prior to get a seat, as he walked in he saw a table and umbrellas already claimed with towels and a bag. Turns out, if you know the GM you don't need to wait in line like everyone. That was upsetting, but whatever... There is not social distancing ANYWHERE on the resort. They routinely let the pools go over max (as told to us by one of the employees) No one abides by the mask rule indoors which was mind blowing to me. And no employees would address folks not wearing masks either. It just seemed like it was a bunch of 18 year olds running the place and the guests could do literally anything they wanted. Kids were out in golf carts till all hours of the morning, being loud and disrespectful thankfully, inside our cabin we couldn't hear the nonsense. Our cabin didn't get touched the 4 days we were there, which was also weird to me? Cabins have grill and fire pit and gas lines running to both. Campsite, bring propane if you want to enjoy the gas fire pit. Don't rely on camp store as They sell out. If you're looking for quiet, serene camping don't come here. The coal train runs through 6-8 times a day, and the resort is along the highway. My recommendation is get the campsites farthest from the main road, up near the cabins. Those are premier sites for sure and we found it to be quiet and away from the activities at clubhouse and rec center. This place still needs some work, but overall it was nice. If you're military, ask for the discount! I was grateful for having done that as it was a good one. Our kids had a great time, and that's all that matters to me. Because of Christy we were going to give a five-star but because of Kathey, and the continuous experiences we have with that elder woman we had dropped it down. If you make a reservation make sure you get every detail before you book. Was quoted a price that matched my specifications when I made the reservation. Before my trip I called to confirm everything, but I found the reservation person did not realize that the cabin I requested was billed under a different code so he did not reserve the correct cabin and my specifications were not honored. The reservation person apologized and admitted his error, tried to make amends, however, he did not have the ability to correct his error. The park wanted substantially more money, close to $387 during the Christmas holiday. Their error made it difficult to reschedule someplace else. read more

Our little house had a grill and a fire pit so we brought all our own food. - Fun activities for kids, an arcade, beautiful put put course, a jumping zone sport courts and more. No extra charge for most of that stuff. - Had a good time riding around on the golf carts. Did cost us $80 for 24 hours. - mostly clean. not perfect but not horrible. I happen to bring bleach wipes after reading previous reviews and was ready to give a good wipe down. Cons- - need to drive if you plan to do any actual outdoor recreation like hiking. - pools were ok. Understaffed so slide wasn't open for part of the day and the water was freezing. Our stay was from July 8th-11th and we won't be coming back. Here are a few of the reasons: No shade whatsoever. I think the tallest tree on the property is 5 ft. The AC doesn't work in the cabin we rented and it's been between 95-99 degrees. We called 3 times to have it looked at and on the last night of our stay, maintenance came by to confirm that indeed, it does not work...that's it. No soap or toiletries in the bathroom, just empty dispensers.....Again, we called several times and on our last night, they dropped off a few bars of soap. They say on the site that there is wifi....the Wi-Fi is absolutely horrific. When we went to cook dinner on the outside grill, we found it was left I cleaned and disgusting. If they would have provided a grill brush, we would have cleaned it ourselves. Extremely overcrowded on the weekends and right next to the freeway and railroad tracks. If your looking for peace and quiet, this is not for you. read more

While the cabins were very small, they are functional. This place is probably great for little kids, but for teenagers, there is not much to offer. There is no cell service and the WiFi is non-existent, so don't plan on being able to connect to anything, and I mean ANYTHING. We couldn't even get online to fill out waivers for activities we were doing in Colorado Springs. When we asked about the Wi-Fi she said "well it's a third-party and there's nothing we can do about it, we're at capacity so there are 2,300 people here." When I stay at busy hotels I don't have a problem with Wi-Fi. It seems they are unwilling to pay for WiFi that supports their facility. We were here for a family reunion and weren't aware that the place was so large or that we could rent a golf cart. When we arrived, we asked about it and the staff was super condescending, basically laughing in our face. They said all the golf carts were reserved even though there were many, many of them sitting in the rental parking lot the 4 days we were there. We reserved the BBQ area for 2 night for our family gatherings and we had to be out by 9pm, which seems ridiculously early. And yes, the campground it is next to train tracks and a highway. read more

Dreadful and crazy expensive. No security...homeless guy cruising the campsites at 6am. People can just walk in anywhere as it's wide open. Trains all night! Every 2 hours or so a huge freight train goes by about 50 feet from the lower sites by the dog park. The push button code system by the entrance gate requires you to get out of your vehicle to enter the code. You cannot reach it from the window of an rv or a car. If you come in at night, there isn't a light near it so have your flashlight or phone handy.....or just drive around the cones and go in the exit because there's no gate there. Sigh. Now, there ARE patrols during the day. They sit and watch the dog park. God help you doing something wrong there, but it's ok to have homeless people roaming the park and no gate security. We were forced to stay here for one night for $150.00!! Insane. We couldn't find another RV park anywhere near where we needed to be, so we were stuck. Never again. Oh, forgot to mention all the rocky washed out areas every where! I nearly broke an ankle sliding down to the dog park. Avoid this place at all cost! read more

I tried calling several times before my trip and while we were there, and no one ever answered the phone. The staff they do have need additional training. I would get a different answer to the same questions depending on who you ask. Check in process was long and cumbersome. I believe this is again a staffing issue. Streamline check in and gate entry process. It is unclear which Activities you need to sign up for in advance. Garbage cans full at the pool. Even at 10am when they open. Squirt guns at the pool. Kids are running wild with no supervision. I was squirted several times sitting at a table eating lunch. Gate code was changed in the middle of the stay with no notice. Wrist bands were confusing. What color means what. They can easily break after just a few days. More information on website would be useful. It is close to the freeway and train tracks. Pros: Campsite was beautiful. We had a Elite spot that was all concrete for the coach and picnic table. Had a bbq and gas fire pit. The utilities / hookups were nicely positioned and functioning properly. Maintenance was very responsive, when needing a replacement propane tank. Golf cart rental was a nice convenience, although a bit expensive though. Best to reserve when reserving spot. Nice bathroom and shower facilities all through the park. Lots of activities for the kids. They supply basketball, volleyball, and Pickleball equipment. They enjoyed the jump pad too. There is a playground at the Rec Center. The cabins look really nice. Everyone I spoke to said they are beautiful on the inside. We had a nice stay and plan to return. read more

Staff was excellent, friendly and accommodating. That is all the good news. Park is very overpriced for what it offers to those of us over 55. Daily activity fee on top of already inflated lot pricing is ridiculous. Park is located absolutely adjacent to a very busy 24 hour a day train track and is also bordered by Interstate 25 with its 6 lanes of traffic. Did you know I-25 is the second busiest road in all of Colorado? Gravel lots are not flat and slope in one direction or another and no amount of trying to shore things up allowed for our coach to sit level for the 2+ weeks we there. This is essentially a gravel lot with minimal immature landscaping. This will be the one and only time we will be staying at any Sun Resort. Sun gives RVing a blackeye.
