The food was good. The employees were also nice. We waited about 20-30 minutes for patellitos and another 30 min for our food. I really enjoyed the macaroni & cheese; However, the location is very tiny (we had people waiting for a table and watching us eat for a whole 30 min because there is no room for people waiting to be seated). In addition, the prices are entirely too high. $16 for a milkshake is pricey even for locations which specialize in milkshakes. The average price for a plate of food is a lot higher than nearby restaurants. If you plan on coming here you will spend at least $50 per person for food which you could get at a local spanish restaurant for half the price. read more

Walked into @jenaviescafe.nyc in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx: Paradise City by Guns N' Roses is playing ... space is painted in red, black, & white walls and decorated with black comfy loungers. The mood is set to a mellow tone but then again the speakers occasionally bump out the best of the 80's//90's classic to make you move. 3 TV's are playing Worlds Dumbest (hilarious) ... the bar's decorations are super cute! While looking onto the menu u can see it's Spanish / Latin food twist with a selection of quite a few speciality shakes such as Xtreme Cotton, Oreo Blast, and M&M Madness (there are more- go try them all). I had the M&M Madness which was pretty awesome- I would have made it with a little less milk (but that's my personal preference); The shake is really Good! I had been constantly eyeing the pictures on Instagram until I decided to just get up and go. I think you guys need to expand that 5 block delivery radius, as well. IJS!!! So I ordered takeout. While waiting for my food I had a talk with the the young waitress, Destiny. She gave me the history and rundown of the restaurant which is pretty interesting, all while I disrupted her lunch break. She waited on me and I talked a hole in her head. Showing her pics of my babies (who put me on to the spot) and grands. For me, I ordered the Shrimp Mofonguitos, the BACON Mac & Cheese and the Fried Pork Chops with White Rice and Beans, Maduro and Salad. SLAMMING (all of it, I'm stuffed). For bae, I ordered the Lemon Pepper Wings and Curly Fries. THE ONLY REASON I'M NOT GIVING YOU GUYS THAT 5th STAR, IS BECAUSE THERE'S NO FRIES IN HERE!!!! The lemonade is good (could be a little more tart) and I skipped dessert, only because it was takeout. But I WILL definitely be going back to sit down and enjoy a meal. If the other waitresses are anything like Destiny, I'm sure I'll enjoy the experience. I was told about this place by a friend I decided to go because of how good the food looked online and of course the milkshakes. My first impression the place is really small and they kind of had a smell it might be the fact that use pledge to clean the tables in a place with no windows that threw me off shouldn't you be cleaning the tables with some type of sanitizer. then they spray the tables with no regards to people eating right next to them. The staff is friendly but needs a lot more training they just take your order and walk away I had to ask for every condiment I needed. The food was good but not worth the 1 hour I waited to get it and definitely not worth the $50 we had the platter it came with fries 4 sliders 4 tacos and 10 wings good but not worth it. the milkshakes are also good but for $18 it should already come with a slice of cake without being charged $2 more and be a little bigger if that's the case go to the black tap and get a milk shake. Was super excited to take my son here for his birthday for the milkshakes and great pictures of food I've seen online. When we arrived I was surprised at just how small it was my living room is bigger than this place. People were literally squeezing by to get to the counter. Nevertheless decided to stay only to be told there was a 45 minute wait. We decided to take the food to go because it was just to cramped and I wouldn't feel comfortable with people on top of me. Didn't even get to order. I heard about this place and decided to walk in and give it a try. I walked up to the counter and was faced with a young woman who clearly didn't like her job. There was no welcoming feeling and I am not high maintenance at all but when you walk into a place of business you expect to at least feel welcomed. I found this place via my instagram account. I was very excited to take my 2 young children because of the specialty milkshakes. When i got there, there was a sign that said to "wait to be seated" or something of that caliber. My 2 children and I waited, I was trying to be patient because it is a small (but nice) place and they were very busy (all the tables were full). For about 5-10 minutes no one greeted us AT ALL. Another party came in behind us after this time and one of the waitresses greeted them and spoke to them in regards to wait time etc. I told the waitress that we had been waiting for about 15 minutes and no one greeted us or had said anything. She informed me that there was a 30-45 minute wait. So we did. I ordered some water while we waited and asked for lemon, the waitress brought out lime, however the lime was so stale that it did not produce any juice when i squeezed it into my water. I let the waitress know and she brought more (much better). I spoke to the manager and she apologized (as a business owner myself i told her this did not look good at all that we were not acknowledged at all). After about 20-30 minutes we sat at our table. We still waited about another 15 minutes for the food even though the waitress took my order while we were at the bar area. When the food finally came out it was only one portion of the order, the other portion didn't come until another 15 minutes. By the time they were ready to make our milkshakes (which i asked to be brought out at the same time with my food) they were all out of the cotton candy one (which made my son very upset and sad-- had they brought it out when i asked them, they would've still had some because they had just ran out). The waitress was nice and was definitely trying to do her best but she was young and I could tell she was not very experienced. The food is pretty expensive; the milkshakes are $16 and its $17 for 12 wings. Im okay with spending it but the service should be at least 90% better. The food is good though, everything was hot and the milkshakes are very nicely made and tasty. For the amount of traffic they are receiving they need to expand and also hire more employees. I was expecting a downtown experience in the Bronx, but i guess not. Presentation is everything, first impressions are everything. I was definitely expecting a jollier customer service experience. But i was just aggravated. The only thing that really made it better was the TV show "Impractical Jokers" that was on the tv. They are getting 2 stars because the food is actually good. Been wanting to try this place for a while. We need to support more local businesses but with that being said this place is completely over rated. I ordered the $50 famous platter which came with 4 tacos 4 burgers French fries and wings. The tacos weren't all that good the shell tastes burnt and the chicken was extremely dry (sadly). The burgers looked and tasted okay. The fries? That honestly had to be my favorite part, they tasted amazing and the wings were average. To drink i got Chinola(passion fruit). Its kinda absurd i paid 5 dollars for a cup of juice that was mostly ice but hey i was thirsty. I also got a milkshake. It was the main reason i was there. Honestly dont waste your time to go there for the shakes. Your better off buying the ingredients and making it at home. Decided to try this place out Friday night after hearing about it. It's not worth the headache. We were sat down immediately but waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come over to us. When she finally did, she told us she would be right back. Now at 20 minutes later she comes back over to apologize and was about to walk away I guess until she saw I wasn't happy. I told her all we wanted was to order three ice cream shakes. She brought over a pitcher of water with a trio of filthy glasses, not dirty, filthy. Another 15 minutes passes with only about 12 customers inside and still no ice cream shakes in sight. Waitress came back over to tell us we still had quite a bit to wait before we got ours. Decided to take my boys there because a few of my friends had been to this place. When we first arrived no one greeted us. This place is VERY SMALL. We waited for about 10mins and then was seated. But there were children in the back doing homework and as they are getting ready to close the kids are running around trying to help the waitress. Rating this place solely on the shakes, went there with my friend this Saturday just to try the shakes. Was told that its a 60 minute wait time (more or less). Asked the waitress if its the same wait if we only want shakes she said yes. We were already there so she took our number and told us to expect a text. Got a text saying its a 60 minute wait and nothing else. After an hour wait we decided to call to see where we were on the list, waitress said she sent us a text a while back but we never got one. She seated us and we ordered the shakes. She insinuated that because we just wanted to order the shakes in to go containers (due to time constraints) we should wait at the door for them. After an hour wait that wasn't happening so we politely declined and stayed seated. On the better side, the shakes were delicious. I got the crazy fruity one and I loved it since Im all about sweet stuff, my friend got the cookies and cream and she liked it as well. Will go back to try out the food soon. read more

They also complained about everything asked of them as if they weren't waiters. It took them an hour to seat us, more than two hours to get our food and we didn't even get to receive our milkshakes because she kept forgetting. It is completely unacceptable and unbelievable. Then the waiters only served their friends very fast and was even serving them liquor in their milkshakes when they do not have a liquor license.
