The waffle cones taste SO fresh because they literally are!! Someone was making them right there while we picked our ice cream. Such a nice touch! We shared a Double Dough and Darkest Chocolate together in a fresh waffle cone and it was so, so good. Did not get a picture because we ate it so fast! It was 8pm and there was a line but I feel like it moved pretty quick. There was a line last time too. I got a scoop of the Gooey Butter Cake and a scoop of the Brambleberry Crisp in a waffle bowl. My friend got 2 scoops of the Gooey Butter Cake in a waffle bowl and also purchased 2 boxes of the single serving Gooey Butter Cake to take home. Those 12 packs are pretty expensive. I think our total for everything was between $80-90! Highly recommend the two flavors I got though if you come try this place. You won't be disappointed. read more

First time trying Jeni's and I was pleasantly surprised! I had heard good things but stopped in with some friends after happy hour to give it a try myself. My favorite icecream flavor is coffee so I was excited to see they had a house coffee flavor available, it was delicious! Ice cream is delicious and the staff is friendly but prices are high. The reason for the low rating is due to the state of the bathroom and specifically no soap. Since this is the sole bathroom for guests and staff, the fact there there was no soap is concerning. Also the water in the dispenser was warm which was odd. read more

Finally...I had the chance to experience Jeni's. I've been hearing about this ice cream for years. And it did not disappoint. It's so rich, because of the quality, even a small cone can be too much. The sampling is so cool. You can have as many as you like and they use real mini spoons so there is no waste. I went for the salted peanut butter with chocolate and it was as delicious. Their staff is so helpful and friendly and the place is set up for major traffic. They clearly know how to keep people happy! I like the ice cream here but I don't understand why they don't have iced water. It's 100 degrees outside and all they had was lukewarm water. It is located in Downtown Scottdale near the Waterfront. This store opened in 2023 and has been a welcome addition to the Scottsdale area. Before they opened this store, Jeni's Ice Creams in AZ could only be purchased in stores like A.J.'s and Whole Foods. Founder Jeni Britton Bauer opened the first Jeni's ice cream shop in 2002 in Ohio. Now they are nationwide. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is known for their unique flavors. Popular flavors over the years include Blackout Chocolate Cake, Salted Peanut Butter, Brambleberry Crisp, Root Beer Float and Brown Butter Almond Brittle. There is a collab flavor with Ted Lasso called Biscuits with the Boss. Jeni's Ice Creams even offers a "flight" if you want to try a variety of flavors. We had some of their Bridgerton limited edition ice creams that were delicious! Wildberry lavender, Queens Sheet Cake, and Earl Grey Creme Brulee. All bowls come with a waffle cone crisp. I've had the opportunity to enjoy Jeni's ice cream multiple times over the years as it has become wildly popular and available since their early beginnings when Jeni started the company in Ohio. It has been really exciting to watch from afar as the brand has grown with both nationwide distribution and with their retail presence... as I write this review, Jeni's has scoop shops in both Old Town and Scottsdale Quarter as well as 30+ additional locations around the US. I went this past Friday night to this Old Town location along with my husband, my daughter, and a friend... We each went for the smallest option aka the "Standard" which is two half scoops in either a bowl, cone or waffle (cone) bowl. I went with half Lemon Bar (Dairy-free), which is described as "punchy lemon, shortbread crust, and rich coconut cream," and the other half Wildberry Lavender, "intensely fruity, brambly berry ice cream with a pop of sweet orange and lavender." It is served in a cup with a small waffle cone triangle, and it's more than enough ice cream... I actually wish they offered a mini version as that would be plenty. The Lemon Bar was my favorite and I would totally order it again and again, although in the future, I may want to try some of their other mouthwatering flavors too. Four of these ice creams + tax and tip was just under $40, so it's pretty pricey, but it's worth the price (and likely long line you'll wait in), if you want to treat yourself with some unique flavors that are carefully crafted with a tried and true formula. Jeni is not a James Beard Award-winner for no reason... check it out yourself! I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Time for ice cream!! It was a beautiful day in Scottsdale, and I had just finished up an interview. Felt like I nailed it, so I treated myself to Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. I've never been to one before and I didn't know about this location, but I'm glad I went. They offer a nice variety of flavors and they also have prepacked pints ready for you to take home. There are a few tables and chairs inside where you can sit and devour your ice cream. I opted to eat mine outside as I people watched. The prices aren't outrageous for the amount you get. I loved the little waffle pieces they included as well. Most times I WANT a waffle cone, but I'm trying to limit my carb intake these days. Nestled in old town Scottsdale is this wonderful little ice cream shop. They make their waffle bowls from scratch and you can even see the process. We got to try quite a few flavors and had a hard time deciding what we wanted because all of them were great! They have half scoops which I can appreciate that way I was able to try more. It was a little on the pricey side for 2 half scoops which is equivalent to one full scoop was $7.15, however, we really enjoyed our ice cream and the flavors. Yum yum yum. While I am not a fan of the waffle cones due to them being too salty, I like the ice cream. They rotate and change the flavors often. They have three big freezer cases. You have to stand in front of one of the sections for service. Once a couple of other customers ended up standing next to me and all of a sudden, the employee started helping them instead. It was pretty awkward. I felt uncomfortable since I had been there first. Then another employee asked me if I was being helped and I said that she could help me instead. But then, she looked at the other customers and was seeing if she could help them. Since they weren't paying attention to her, she ended up helping me, thankfully. We've heard of Jeni's for a long time and we were eager to try it out. The serve was generous with samples and even recommended how we could get the most bang for our buck (the four flavor sampler, fyi). We ordered the Spring Collection which included tropical bloom, lemon bar, ripple berry, and pistachio. The server kindly added five waffle wedges for each of us, and the portion was just right for all five of us to try the various flavors without feeling stuffed. Stopped by Jeni's recently on a hot Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly there was no line around 1:00pm. I was disappointed that they no longer have the rainbow sherbet flavor that I like. I tried many samples before I decided on their newest flavor called Opaque. It's made with black cocoa, espresso fudge, and balsamic cherry. It's creamy and rich, but not too decadent. I didn't have a lot of time, but the aroma coming from this shop was TOO alluring and I had to stop in and try something. I got their smallest ice cream option, which was two small scoops (equivalent of one large scoop but you could have two different flavors if you want), in a cup, and it came with a little waffle cookie as an accent. I tried their brambleberry and it tasted very well made, with a rich, creamy texture and nice flavor. I did note, however, that occasionally, I discovered some kind of grain hull in my teeth. I think this ice cream flavor had some kind of rough cut, hearty cookie or biscuit in it? Besides that, it seemed a little pricey. That might have been in part due to the area, this shopping neighborhood seems very boutique-y and expensive. The staff I interacted with were friendly and polite. The shop was clean, well lit and had a comfortable atmosphere. I'd return here again when I have more time and can choose my flavor(s) more carefully. :) read more

I got a single scoop of the rich and decadent Blackout Chocolate Cake - you have the option to go halfsies and get two flavors, but I'm so glad I stuck to one. Though I didn't perceive the cream cheese, the gooey salted caramel-butterscotch swirl with vanilla cake hit the spot. It was on the sweet side. - Brambleberry Crisp. I appreciated the flavor of the berry, but I wasn't getting the crisp. It tasted more like a graham cracker crust to me. - Sparkling Cherry Pie. It was alright. I didn't really taste the sichuan peppercorn. - Lemon Crinkle. This was a solid "lemon cookies and cream" type of flavor. - Iced Molasses Gingerbread. Not only was I impressed with the selection of flavors, but the ice cream itself is very high quality. It is rich and sweet and thick. So if you are looking for a more intentional dessert option, I'd highly recommend coming here. The staff and cashier were friendly and gave us some good recommendations for flavors that pair well together. The inside of the shop is very cute as well and has cute decorations, although the seating area isn't too big. However, because this location is in Old Town, you can sit outside or walk around.
