We needed to replace a tire on my wife's new vehicle that was damaged by a road hazard coming back from vacation. I called Jenkins because I thought they were a bigger Goodyear dealer than they are. They assured me they could have the tire the next day which they did. When I took the vehicle down to have the tire changed, they scratched the rim on my wife's new car. A new rim for that vehicle was $770. Jenkins refused to make it good. they kept putting me off and putting me off and putting me off telling me they were looking for a good used A+ rim, and basically blew me off. The gentleman I spoke with at Jenkins told me he kept texting the owner, Todd Jenkins, and that he (Todd Jenkins) would call me. That never happened. Jenkins never called me back or followed up in any way. Their word meant nothing. I realize that when service work is done, including mounting a tire on a rim, that accidents can happen. However, I also realize that it's up to the dealer to make it right. This they did not do. I wouldn't recommend Jenkins Services or Todd Jenkins to conduct party games at a six-year-old's birthday party. As far as I'm concerned, they get a -10 stars. I should have had Rice Tire (formerly Central Tire) handle the situation. They would have done it honestly and correctly. read more

Wish I'd read the other woman's review on here before I took our car for its state inspection; I second her opinion that females should steer clear of this place. My husband has taken our car to Jenkins before, and we haven't had an issue. This time it was me who dropped the car off, and they told us it needed new control arms and bushings to pass inspection, and then added an extra $70 to each of the parts (we looked the exact part up later on O'Reilly, where the invoice said it was from - about $90, and they charged us $160). And the cost of labor is $380 per hour? I know they figure labor in various ways but even if $380/hr is a going rate for a mechanic, we doubt that the car actually NEEDED new control arms to pass inspection anyway. We haven't noticed any shaking, noises or any other signs that the control arms might be "wore out" like the mechanic told us. This was close to a thousand dollars that we really cannot afford right now. Will go to Hershey's next time. read more

Super nice guys with a reputation for honesty and good work. My air conditioning gave out driving from VT to FL in June, and my dog was suffering. So I stopped in Staunton, got room at the Howard Johnson because it was near the center of their quaint, historic downtown. I was wondering what to do about the broken AC as I walked my dog, and lo and behold...! This Goodyear was just a block away! But I am wary of car mechanics who might be dishonest or, worse, incompetent, so I asked just about everyone I met at the motel and at the restaurant where I had dinner (Byer's Street Bistro, if you were wondering). Quite a few people said they had been pleased with the work their cars had received there and at Jenkins' other locations and that they trusted the owner. It's family owned, and the Jenkins family owns 4 or 5 Goodyears in the Central Valley of Virginia. One woman said she had gone to the Waynesboro service center for years and had been happy to find they had a center here when she moved to Staunton. So I came in as soon as they opened at 7, and the assistant manager was as friendly and as helpful as could be. They got my car in a bay right away so I could figure out if it might be a quicker matter of adding some coolant or if I might have to book another night at the motel. As I write, they are still taking a look at the car (it's only been 30 minutes) and topping off my fluids, but I'll write again and let you know how it went! But so far it's 5 stars for quality customer service and a nice facility to wait in! read more

Do not trust this shop! Repeated bad experiences have proven that they will try to pad their invoices in whatever way they can. Getting my truck's VA inspection with them was a series of deceptions. First quote, approx $950 for new brakes and new rotors and drums. I paid a visit, could easily see there was nothing wrong with the drums, and $400 was taken off the quote. Mechanic in the shop told me the drums were fine and he didn't know why they'd been quoted. Shop manager told me the mechanic had recommended them. I believed the mechanic. Rest of repairs were approved, and in the 10 minutes it took to walk home, I got another call telling me the rear wheel brake cylinders had 'exploded' in the brake replacement process??? No choice now but to approve that addition to the bill. Picked up the truck late in the day, soon realized the brakes had not been readjusted after the work. Took it back first thing next morning. Shortly again received a call, now telling me that the rear drums would have to be replaced because they couldn't reassemble the wheels after adjusting the brakes???? Made no sense, I said NO. Was told they'd see what they could do. Got a call a bit later that the truck was ready and they'd 'figured out' the issue with the rear wheels. I have reported them to the Goodyear Customer Service center, where I was told it only takes a couple of reports like this to cause them to completely lose the Goodyear franchise--brand name and all products. If you or someone you know has had similar problems with Jenkins Automotive in downtown Staunton, VA, please take time to report them. It is a disservice to Goodyear and a disservice to our little town to have a shop like this that can't be routinely trusted. read more

We had a tire explode on our travel trailer 2 hours into an 11 hour journey. We limped in to Jenkins at 7.30 AM very despondent. They were cheerful, polite and extremely helpful. Now remember this was 7.30 in the morning! They didn't have the correct tire on hand but still managed to get us back on the road by 8.30. They checked all the other tires, inflated where necessary, got the rim off, removed the shredded tire, magically obtained a new one, installed it and put it back on the trailer all in 1 hour. Amazing service and only charged us $110. The last time I needed a new trailer tire I paid over $300. So wish Jenkins was close to where I live. read more

No woman should use this business. I have used hem for years and trusted them. After a change in the manager I was quoted $1700 for a brake job and alignment even though they had supposedly aligned it a few months (and less than 5000 miles) earlier. After refusing and demanding an itemized estimate it went down to $1000. A few weeks later(and before I found a new shop) my water pump went out. Had it towed back to Jenkins and two days later they quoted me over $1000. I figured it was the water pump so I had already looked into it and found out it should cost around $500. When I told the manager this he promised to match that price. $750 later I got my car back. They have made a lot of money off me honestly over the years (since 2010) but they are determined to take advantage of me sinceI am a woman and I will never go there again. UPDATE: Took my vehicle to Service Rite in Waynesboro, VA for another opinion. All it needed was CVT Transmission fluid to be topped off (I could not check this myself as CVT's are considered sealed transmissions) AND they ran a computer diagnostic. This cost a total of $48.37 which was only $8.37 more than Jenkin's INCORRECT diagnosis where all they did was drive it (didnt even run a computer diagnostic) and charged $40.00 without prior agreement. For complete honestly, go to Service Rite. I will definitely be contacting a lawyer about a class action lawsuit against this company for trying to take advantage of me and many others. Horrible service. I wish I would have checked the Google reviews on here before bringing my vehicle in to the Waynesboro location but my boyfriend had work done on his and I trusted them. I called to get a second opinion from them after getting my original diagnosis from the Jeep dealer to see why my vehicle was making a whining noise and was told to bring it in that they may not get to it today (Wed) but they will on Thursday. Brought it in, dropped it off and was told Friday that I needed a new transmission. When I declined having a new $4,000 transmission put in, I was told there was a $40 charge for checking the vehicle. This was not mentioned to me at all when I originally called to drop it off. After checking out the reviews, I am seeing a lot of other females have been taken advantage of by this shop. I paid the $40 to have my vehicle released although it is illegal in the state of Virginia to charge fees without prior acknowledgement and is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act. I have since contacted the State Attorney General on this shop, the BBB, the Division of Consumer Counsel of the Department of Law and will be contacting a Lawyer... not because of the $40 but because I will not allow them to continue to do this to unsuspecting customers. read more

I would highly recommend staying away from this shop having seen the aftermath of their work. The shop installed a new turbo on a 2004 Forester XT however when putting in the new unit they lost the bolts for the turbo apparently. Rather than source new bolts to fix their mistake they found and used 4 incorrect random bolts to reattach the turbo and decided it did not need the fifth bolt and chose to not fully reattach the turbo. They also overlooked the fact that the engine had no compression and insisted upon replacing all coil packs and plugs which was not the problem. The problem was the engine didnt have compression and the engine would need to be removed taken apart and repaired accordingly but instead of giving an accurate Diagnosis they choose to not put in the work to accurately diagnose the vehicle and rather instead just start replacing parts that didnt need to be replaced. If you would like to spend twice the money for them to loose parts and then not even fully secure other parts. THIS SHOP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOR CAN THEY ACCURATELY DIAGNOSE ISSUES STAY AWAY AND GO TO AN HONEST SHOP THAT KNOWS HOW TO ACCURATELY DIAGNOSE ENGINE PROBLEMS. Right now this car is having to have a second brand new turbo installed due to the damage that Jenkins Auto Service Center did to the unit they installed incorrectly. The engine is also being pulled to have the valve and head work it needed completed. When I contacted Jenkins about the issue they initially denied doing the turbo work to the vehicle at which point i presented them with their invoice for the repair. At that point they said they claimed it was the technicians fault not theirs and they werent responsible for it despite employing the technician. LADIES BEWARE! I was here earlier this week. I needed to update my inspection sticker and get an oil change. After dropping my vehicle off earlier that day, I was phoned and told that my vehicle had passed inspection and could be picked up. I went the following day to pick it up, only to see that I had a rejection sticker. I inquired about the failed inspection and my phone call, at first no one would own up to calling me. After continuous "buck passing", one employee admitted to calling me and telling me it had passed. He said he "misread" the paperwork and told me I would need about $300 worth of work to pass the inspection. I was "mansplained" that I needed a hose to my power steering pump and that I needed a tail light cover replaced. The tail light cover has had a small crack in it since I've owned the vehicle and has always passed inspection. I decided to take it to the shop I had previously taken it to. The only reason I had not originally taken it there was because I had moved and it was further away. Commonwealth Engine Rebuilders in Verona passed my vehicle. The mechanic explained that as long as no white light can be seen through the crack, it has to be passed. Also, there was no leak in the hose. I will not be back to Jenkins. I'm disappointed that they live up to mechanic's stereotype of taking advantage of women, either that or the inspector doesn't know how to do his job. I'm not sure about this place... They failed my car on inspection and told me my car had a crack in the manifold. Mechanic told me to put my hand near the heat shield to feel the air blowing out. I did and felt nothing. Told me it would be $400 repair. So I took it to Hershey Tire to confirm the problem. They said there is no crack. Instead it is actually a flex hose on the exhaust that needs to be fixed. Only $80 repair. Won't be going back to Jenkins... read more
