Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this provider to take my feedback into account. I found Dr. Taravella's bedside manner to be unprofessional and disappointing. During my pre-operative appointment, the nurse repeatedly said the doctor would be in shortly to review what would be happening during my surgery. I could hear other physicians meeting with and speaking directly to their patients, but I did not see or hear from my doctor prior to surgery. Another physician did come in and clearly explained what would be happening, which I appreciated. I did not interact with Dr. Taravella until I was already in the operating room. Even then, during the first eye surgery, he did not speak to me at all and instead conversed with what I assume were fellows present during the procedure. During one of my four post-operative appointments, I waited approximately 55 minutes to be seen. Dr. Taravella spent a total of about four minutes with me and simply stated that I was "healing nicely." He did not review my vision prescription, share my eye pressure results, or address the questions I had documented during my initial screening, specifically whether the ORA testing produced different results than my initial consultations. This was particularly frustrating given that this testing incurred a significant out-of-pocket cost that was not covered by insurance. For clarity and full transparency, I want to note that the pre-op and post-op staff, check-in staff, and other post-operative physicians were outstanding. I saw three different physicians across my four post-operative appointments, all of whom provided excellent care. My concerns are specific to the surgeon who performed the procedure. In hindsight, I wish I had selected a different physician for my surgery.

I've been a patient here for some time, and I want to start by saying that my previous experiences…read morewith this practice were consistently positive. The care I received in the past was professional, thorough, and appreciated. However, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. I had a scheduled appointment and was left waiting for two hours without any explanation or apology. When I was finally seen, the exam lasted only a few minutes, and when I attempted to ask about the excessive wait time, the doctor left without addressing my concern. Following the appointment, I reached out to the office owner by both phone and email to share my experience. It has now been two weeks with no response. That lack of follow-up is just as concerning as the appointment itself. I understand that delays can happen in a medical setting, but communication and basic courtesy matter. A simple acknowledgment or apology would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled has significantly impacted my confidence in the practice. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so future patients are treated with the respect we all deserve.

Found out his office isn't in-network for Kaiser Permanente (gotta love America's for-profit health care system). Kaiser's support line told me I could come in Monday - for a torn retina. Seriously??? What is WRONG with them!! Anyway, Dr. Koretz made a few calls to doctors at Kaiser for me and got me into a Kaiser doctor that evening. And my surgery happened at Kaiser Saturday morning, first thing. My retina is healing nicely now because Dr. Koretz went well above and beyond in my book, to get me a doctor in-network. I'm having to pay a little bit for my time in Dr. Koretz' office, but the charge is worth it, considering my circumstance. Thanks again, Dr. Koretz!
