The Good: The first two services were excellent. The were reasonably priced and fast. The NotSoGood: After the first couple of times, I was sold! Thinking we've finally found an honest and excellent mechanic. Boy was I wrong! My coolant light suddenly came on (car was only 5 years old) I took it to Jensen. They charged me $2k to fix it. A couple of months layer, same problem. This time, it costed $800. Two months after, problem reoccured and they again charged an additional $800 to fix. Then one to 2 months after that, coolant light came on again. This time, my husband took our Volvo to Campbell Swedish shop. It has not happended since. I believe they messed with my coolant system to continue billing us.VERY SHADY. I reported them to BBB. Take Away: Don't be fooled by their initial "reasonably-priced". I brought in my 2011 Acura MDX shortly after purchasing it as-is at a dealership and experiencing issues with air conditioning :( After paying over $250 for a diagnostic assessment of my vehicle I was told I needed two motor replacements which would cost me an additional $1700!! Jensen's was recommended by my father-in-law so I called them and shared the issues with the car and Acura's recommendation. Bob was great at explaining the different motors and what each does and what he felt would be needed, but best for him to do his own diagnosis to confirm. I definitely didn't want to manage without AC in the 90 degree weather this week. Bob was able to squeeze me in and I brought the car in the next day and have him check it out. After diagnosis, new mode motor, new relay and an oil change I paid about 1/3 the cost I was quoted by Acura. I also received phenomenal service by Bob and Mary and felt as if I'd been a valued customer for years. They also have a few loaner vehicles available which is a really great bonus. But I saw just that today and immediately called Jensen's. They got me right in---no small feat for a family business that was already fully booked, and within a couple of hours had diagnosed and fixed the problem--an ignition coil that had failed. This place has always been pretty good for my wife and I. We've brought both of our cars to Jensen's for quite some time. My wife has a car that is just a few years old. Not too many miles on it. She took it to Jensen's for a routine oil change (scheduled maintenance) recently. Just a few weeks later (fewer than 1500 miles), a warning light came on telling her the oil level was low. She pulled over and called Jensen's asking for help. He SHOULD have asked her to schedule a time to bring it in to have a look at it since HE DID THE OIL CHANGE! But see, it was after 3:00pm on a Friday and they start their weekend at 4:00pm, so he instead said "If the car tells you you need oil, then go to the auto parts store and put oil in it." The car has too few miles to be leaking oil and I'm just shocked that after our loyalty, he'd dismiss her so easily. Never again. Don't bother wasting your postage on those little reminder postcards because we'll never be back ever. Hope you had the bitchin' weekend you couldn't wait to get started. read more

Thanks to Jensen's, I now have a new place to take my Honda. I've always taken my Hondas to the dealership. But in the last few years, I've noticed that they would recommend major, expensive services that were unnecessary, according to other reliable sources. So when I needed a new battery, I decided to hop over to Jensen's. Talked to Mary who was straightforward, nice, and gave me a good estimate. The price was just under the estimate and the car was ready when they said it would be. Recently, my Maintenance Minder displayed a B 1,2, which is an oil change, filter, fluid check, tire rotation, etc. I called Mary, who asked how close I was to 90K (I was at 87K, so I went for the 90K service, which is basically the same thing as the B 1,2, minus a valve check (if they're noisy). So I set up the appointment. Decided to check with my local dealer for their pricing, for grins. Boy was I in for a shock. They quoted me $600 over Jensen's quote for the 90K service. I thanked them for the quote and said a mental "Adios, forever!!" to the dealership. My tire pressure was low so they fixed that too, and I can feel the difference in how it rides. And in general, the car runs better. Very happy! read more

I love these folks. I actually can't believe I haven't written a review singing their praises earlier. For over a decade, Bob and Mary have taken care of my car, and thereby taken care of me. Over those years and four different cars, they've efficiently, professionally and expertly taken care of problems both mundane and critical. I never have to worry about shoddy work or being taken advantage of; they always do their best. Most recently I bought a new Toyota and part of that package is 2 years "free" maintenance that is built into the price as we all know. I was referred to this shop this past weekend by a mechanic friend. I contacted them monday morning, said I had some type of oil leak at the back of engine and it was smoking. Was told to bring it by. They looked at it and said it was the valve gasket, and needed to go ahead and replace both, since it involves taking half the engine apart! They ordered the parts, which got a later call that Mary missed one set of parts, but wanted to verify it was ok the quote would be higher. I had been a fairly loyal visitor to my dealership repair facility. However, when the Check Engine light illuminated on my Lexus RX, I was not far from Jensen's which had been recommended to me by two friends. Mary was friendly when she greeted me and Bob agreed to have a look despite my having no appointment. In only a few minutes they diagnosed the issue as just a loose gas cap and didn't bother charging me. That gave me confidence to follow up when the Check Engine light came on and my RX was running roughly. Again, without an appointment, Bob was able to identify and fix the issue. It was not just a loose gas cap but a similar problem I had with the car a couple years prior. Then my dealership repair facility charged three times as much for the job Jensen's performed. I'm now a faithful fan of Jensen's and plan to take my other Lexus in for its 90,000 mile service. If you make an appointment for service that will take a while, they provide loaner cars at no cost. Cool. An ailing car or any car service can be fraught with stress. Bob and Mary take the edge off of the experience. They are both friendly and take the time to explain their repair and maintenance process and billing in terms anyone can understand. If your wait is longer than an hour, rather than hanging out in the small reception area, you can take a walk to the nearby shopping center which has a theater. Tip: Do not take your kids to watch Frozen because they will be singing the theme song until you want to do harmful things. read more

I have been taking my car here for the past few years. We found them on Yelp. Have really liked their customer service (I'm big on customer service) and they have always been very fair. Most times my bill comes in lower than they have quoted me. Here is a very short, short version of my most recent trip August 2013: I went for a 75,000 mile check-up and a (so I thought) easy fix on the door locks. I was properly quoted on parts and labor. Needless to say, my car was the ONE car that had the odd mishap that was a puzzle. Shall we say the 1-in-500-chance-this-would- happen-to-you situation. Poor Bob, I found out later, lost sleep trying to figure out my car. Originally they gave me a quote for parts and labor to replace a part. But, upon further inspection, more problems were occurring that made my locks not function properly. They spent well over the alotted amount of labor time they quoted me. He even called upon a good friend who works on Honda cars to come and take a look at my car with no additional charge for labor. Not only did they fix my door locks, they charged me what they quoted me and made the locks even stronger. The bottomline is, they are honest, up front with what they are intending to do and they don't take advantage of people who know nothing about cars beyond driving and gadgets. This is one of the few Yelp reviews we read on a business that was completely accurate. Highly recommend!!! This short review doesn't even do justice to how grateful I am for their entire team. My wife's family has been using this shop for years, and I have for the past 5 since we got married. The shop is small, but that's a good thing in my opinion. I'd much rather have an honest, family-run mechanic's shop than a huge chain where I go in for an oil-change and air filter, and all of a sudden my car is on the verge of falling apart unless I pay them to fix it. Don't even get me started on Dealership repair/maintenance pricing. Recently my check engine light came on, turned out to be one of the oxygen sensors. I got it replaced, but when I got the car back the light came back on immediately. I took the car back to the shop and explained what was going on. It turned out that the panel where the senors are, aren't exactly in order they're numbered in in the computer's databank, and they had replaced the wrong sensor. After looking at the setup, I could see why such a mistake would be easy to make. They replaced the sensor that was really damaged, and didn't charge me a thing for the correction of the mistake. Most auto places would charge at least a diagnostic, and then most likely tell you it was something else and charge you for it - getting more $ to fix their own error. Jensen's delivers. They're friendly, honest, and they keep my Rav4 and the wife's Prius in great condition. Not to mention my in-law's Avalon (yes, we love Toyotas). They're not open on the weekends, but the drop-off service works great. It's best to call ahead and see how busy they are/make an appointment before just driving down there. They can get busy (we're not the only one's who like them), but they'll be honest and upfront about the time frames. If you're looking for honest, knowledgeable, and friendly mechanic service, it would be hard to do better than Jensen's. read more

I was under the assumption that independent auto service shops use lower quality parts and take longer for service. Well, this shop proved me wrong. My 1999 Subaru Outback had experienced the infamous EJ25D head gasket failure. My dad recommended we go to Jensen's Foreign Car Service. And boy, was that great! (I thanked my dad later) I requested for OEM parts (which I believe they did since Subaru engines are picky on head gaskets) and I can confidently believe they did. The head gasket servicing itself took a while, but within reason. Also, they helped bust the misdiagnosis I got from a Subaru dealer I won't mention. Dealer said I had rod knock, this shop said the engine is fine. I'm under the assumption it's the piston-slap issue with the EJ25D that may have been mistaken for rod knock at the dealer. 20,000 miles later, I have NO cooling system-related issues. I can confidently drive my car, shift the gears my way (whether it be for saving fuel or maximum acceleration), and not need to worry about any head-gasket issues! read more

Within 15 minutes of arriving Bob had taken my car for a test drive and diagnosed the issue, turns out I needed a small tune up. Without hesitation Bob performed on my car like a mechanic with 31 years professional experience would (That's just how long he's been running Jensen's, I'll take a hefty wager he has more time than that under his belt) and I was out of there driving smooth in no time. I will have to say that I am very happy with this place after our first visit. I am glad up to this point that we made the change. They are nice, a clean shop, good knowledge and most of all they are a family run business. They worked with us well, kept us informed of the progress of our car and had it done on time. I will be bringing my car back here for a long time if this is the type of service I continue to get. They checked out a few things that had been relayed to me in the past about having to repair or replace and they didn't seem to find a problem with with the components. Now that can be viewed several ways, either they don't know what they are doing and didn't find the problem, or they didn't feel it was a problem, or the other shop wasn't telling the truth.
