I honestly don't even know where to start. Mark (and the rest of his team) truly made me feel incredibly fortunate to encounter such a blend of best practices and kind, genuine people. I wrote a review 10 years ago, and here I am, 10 years later, still feeling the same way (if not more so) about the exceptional quality of their work. Not to mention, it's local--and they consistently provide the most professional service. They don't overcharge, if anything, it's the completely opposite. On multiple occasions, my car was checked free of charge. It might sound funny, but they truly make me feel that they're here to serve the community, rather than just build a profitable business. I don't think they need anyone to speak for them, but I just wish more people knew about their incredible service. I deeply appreciate their honesty and transparency. I've asked them if they open on Saturdays and also confirmed on the Google Map if they open on Saturdays. However, when I went there yesterday (10/26/2024) around Noon, I was told it's closed and open on Monday. :( read more

I grew up in this neighborhood, and somehow never knew about this amazing auto repair shop hidden behind the gas station in the Safeway parking lot. It was a AAA tow truck driver who suggested them when my car broke down at my mom's place in Almaden. I was skeptical, since everything is more expensive in Almaden - but he insisted I give them a try. Boy, was the tow truck driver right!!! Sam and his team at Almaden 76 are honest, hardworking and detail oriented. They don't play games, keep the pricing reasonable, and even do warranty service on the parts they install. Wow! These people are so nice! I talked with Mark today, who signed me in. Little guy, not yet understanding what is socially acceptable, screamed "HI OLD MAN!" as he checked out the VIN number, and Mark (luckily) didn't hear it or didn't seemed phased (probably the latter). I was quite surprise at how he didn't seem ruffled by the multiple phones ringing off the hook or the number of jobs piling up, still answering them calmly and treating the customers, like myself, such courtesy. Also, even though the shop may be closed, you can still pick up your vehicle until 10 (or whenever the snack shop closes). Convenient and polite - and they certainly seem trustworthy. read more

Did not get work done, bur Sam was so nice as to tighten my lugs as one came loose and took time out of his day and was very friendly. Did not even have an appointment just drove up and he helped without hesitation. All for free as well. read more

They really are one star but I'm giving one more star just because they were good in the past. Ever since the wife took over it became a very tricky place. I took a $19.95 coupon for my oil change and she started saying that they'd give me $5 off the $40 bill because I'm supposed to bring the coupon when I drop off the car rather than when I pay (why will you put a bad oil on my car when there's a coupon?). Then they started saying that I didn't have enough oil so they had to put MORE oil? What? I thought you're supposed to change the oil entirely. Not only that but when I got in my car, the sticker said to change the oil within 2,500 miles, rather than the usual 3,000, I wonder why (because I'm a woman and you think I'm stupid?) and I wonder if it's even legal. It's sad to say but after 10 faithful years I will never go back there again. read more

I wish I could take stars away or at least give ZERO stars. I called on Wednesday and talked to Mark and asked if they could replace my burned-out headlamp. I provided my year, make and model, and he quoted me $20 each (I asked for both to be replaced). I asked if he could do it the following day and he said yes. My wife brought the car in first thing in the morning. I took her car into my office. She called me shortly after arriving at their shop and told me they changed the price to $150.00. I turned around and headed back to their station. Upon arrival, they explained to me that he did not do his research to find out what it took to do the work - and that it wasn't "worth his effort to do it for $20." He said that I could take it elsewhere (of course I could), but I stated their tactics were "Bait and Switch." He said that they will do their best to charge less if I wanted to leave it with them. After setting this up to be done, I reluctantly said to go ahead and do the work. A couple hours later, Mark called and said that it was now going to cost over $200.00 and he really didn't want to do the work anyhow and that I should take it to the dealer. Frustrated, I came back to pick up the car, and thanked Mark (sarcastically) for wasting my day. I called the dealer, and they quoted me $85.00 total - LESS than Mark at Hifai quoted. I'm now at the dealer and they will have it done for me shortly. Hifai 76 (especially Mark) is TERRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I've been fueling my vehicles and propane tanks there for almost 20 years. They've now lost all of my business! STAY AWAY and don't patronize these guys due to their unprofessional behavior. read more

I've been to this station before to fix my brakes, and came back again today since the check engine light came on...I'm extremely pleased with the level of service, professionalism, and overall friendliness of the people who run the shop! They were able to answer all my questions in a very prompt and friendly fashion and get me back on the road quickly. Ended up just changing some spark plugs, but let me tell you...the car ran 5X smoother afterwards!! What's great about this shop is that, unlike other spots, it's near a shopping center and some food spots....so each time I bring it in, I can just knock out some shopping at the Safeway or grub at the BK a short walk away. I really needed an oil change before I took I long drive before the weekend started. Came on yelp and saw that this place was near by. Was hesitant to come because the last review was in 2012. But went anyway since I was desperate. They told me I was only going to have I wait 30 minutes and they were right. Pretty quick service for me! Also, while they were changing my oil, they noticed that the last oil change I got, the people put in the wrong oil. He brought this attention to me and I thought that was really nice for them to let me know. The oil change was a total of 42.10 which isn't bad at all. They guys there were really nice. I am a girl so I made sure they knew that all I wanted was an oil change and nothing more, since I know some places take advantage of females. Very happy with my experience here. read more

This review is long overdue. I brought my Mercedes in because the front suspension was all messed up. I had the car originally towed to the dealership. Turns out the front air strut was cracked and needed to be replaced. Mercedes wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to replace and said they needed about a week to get it done. A friend referred me to almaden center 76. Sam and Tom are true gentleman. They took care of the issue for me in a fraction of the time for a fraction of the price. Highly recommend. read more

Worst experience getting my oil checked. Dropped my car off at 7:40 for a simple oil change. Said they won't work on it till 8 and it would be done in two hrs and they would text me. 10:30a and I drop by to see if they finished, but they had not even started on my car. I've been relying on his help for years, but am prompted to write this review by a sharply contrasting experience at another, nearby 76 that shall go unnamed. Tom not only promptly fixed my flat tire and threw in his usual extras (including fixing an oil-light problem the other station had actually created), but waved off my attempt to pay. I've had this location serve five cars over a period of twenty-five years. I have always had friendly reliable service. The two cars I currently have never have been to a dealership....OK I did take my Chrysler T&C to Normandin's...and had a terrible and very, very, very expensive experience. The previous owner was a grump at times but he has passed on to the great car service in the sky. The mechanic I turn to, Tom, has been there forever and I count on him. I come here to refill my grill's propane tank. Each time, they give me a full tank and charge me the correct price. One time I went to another nearby Union 76 station (Redmond & Meridian), and the guy ripped me off! He sold me a partially full tank for full price. After that, I continue to come here and am satisfied. read more
