This dark dinner cost me $11 and was not worth it AT ALL. Their meals do not come with rice and beans and their plantains are extremely dry and kinda hard. I highly recommend going to the Irie Jerk Hut in Richton Park. They'll give you way more food for BETTER quality at the same price if not lower. I haven't gone there in several years because everytime I'd order what was showing on the menu they'd ran out or didn't have: peach cobbler, mac & cheese etc. It was always something. A few days ago, I had a taste and decided to try this place again, but this time decided to read the reviews. The reviews indicated to me this places quality and service tactics haven't changed, so I will not go back although I live in that neighborhood. I'm use to excellent Jerk & Jamaican foods while living on the Southside of Chicago. The girl in the front had a nasty attitude. They took my order, had me pay, told me to come back in 15 minutes, so that is what I did. A relative of mine told me their Jerk Salad was delicious therefore, I decided to try an item off the lunch special: Jerk Chicken White - $8.00 W/ a side choice of Mac & Cheese & a Beef Patty! Jerk Chicken- very moist and juicy with/ the skin falling off! It was soooo good! I wish there was a bigger portion! I didn't need to sauce because the meat was very well seasoned! The sauce is spicy but it was good to test taste. I'm not a spicy eater so that small container of sauce was more than enough for me. If you crave spicy, then you may need more than one sauce lol. Mac & Cheese- it was good. I wouldn't order the item again for a side; I'll probably try the candied yams! I was debating in my head between the two but I should have selected the yams. Don't waste your time. It's literally a waste of time. I called the location at 3:15pm and asked to place a pick up order. I was told the order was too large to place over the phone (30 jerk wings and 3 sides). I even offered to pay for it on the phone. That was not allowed, no problem. I arrived to the location around 4pm. They told me the order would take an hour. While paying for my order, I was told that i had to pay for the chicken wings with cash (no reason was given). So I paid for the sides with my card then left to get cash for the chicken wings. Upon returning and finally paying for the wings, it was 4:20pm. They told me they would call me in an hour to pick it up. By 5:30pm I had not received a call. I called them and the young lady told me she couldn't find my order. After some back and forth, she located my order. She said it would be ready in 10 mins. At 6:15pm, I finally got my food. The food was actually great. The chicken was tender, the Mac n cheese was well seasoned. Unfortunately, this will be the First and Last Supper because they'll never get my business again. We placed a medium size order and called back maybe two minutes later to add additional items to our order. upon time to pick up our order, we were greeted with a nasty disposition from his employee Who's name is Lala. She'd let us know that our order was never placed and they had no more orders for pickup. She insisted that we probably called the wrong establishment and we should call them and find our order. Because it could've been our fault, we checked our phone records and indeed had called the correct location. As we spoke to Lala with her nasty attitude, she is repeatedly saying that she does not remember speaking to us, she doesn't remember our order ,she doesn't remember anything,when we distinctively remember that it was her that we spoke to,being that she was the only person answering the phone. I asked if there was a manager that we can speak to, being that that our order would have been our dinner for Mother's Day. With her nasty attitude she mentioned that he was not there and that the only number that could be reached was the number in which we called to the establishment. I asked if she would take my number for him to get back to me and as I read the telephone number and you could tell that she wasn't truly writing down the number. lastly I also ask for her name and she proceeded to hang up the phone on me. I'd call back about 10 times to see if someone will pick up again and they did not. Frustrated at this point for employees that were bad for business. I proceeded to call Jerk N Go at its Homewood location to see if I could get someone to contact me with the manager. Their employee was nice enough to take my number. About two minutes later I received a call from the manager where I spoke about my experience with their employees and how disrespectful she was about the manner, and the fact that she hung up on me. The manager Marvis Wilson apologize profusely about the disrespect from his employee and seem to want to rectify the problem by offering to replace our entire order on Tuesday when their establishment opened back up. speaking to him we should've known he was unprofessional when he referred to his employee as an ignorant fat ass while on the phone with him. He offer us his personal phone number to get in contact with him come Tuesday for our replacement. Our intention was never to exploit jerk and go, but to do our part in spending money to support businesses of all sorts, especially during the pandemic. If an establishment is corporate or franchise, independent business, or black owned it doesn't matter, wrong is wrong. If you offer to make it right that is what we are expecting. We were not asking for any more than we were already willing to spend at his establishment on Sunday. With the way Marvis Wilson is for and the way other reviews coincide with our experience, I don't know how longer he will remane open. If this paragraph doesn't state it enough,we do not recommend this establishment. Please keep your money and go elsewhere. Jerk Chicken, by default, is an easy sell. Apparently anybody who opens a jerk themed restaurant will attract customers. The food is decent but the service is awful. Every time I call in to make an order the lady on the phone is rude and acts annoyed when she has to take an order. Because of that I usually only go when I'm desperate and super hungry. Last time I went, I was told they are not taking orders after 8:30 pm and that I need to come in to take my order. I got a jerk shrimp dinner and it only took 15 minutes to be ready, which is a surprise for most jerk places. I was expecting to wait at least 30 minutes lol. The main problem is that I spent almost $16 dollars, which I suppose is average for seafood, but I got one and a quarter spoons of rice spread around the plate. Great spot cabbage is not good on certain days. But that jerk chicken is top notch!!!!

This food is awesome. Period. Service is slow but worth it. My issue is that they often run out of menu items. Highly recommend.
