We went for my wife's birthday on 07/29/23. After a 35 minute wait we were seated. Looking at the menu we realized everything was priced about five dollars more than online prices. We asked the waitress about it and she stated they have had about three price hikes but they never seem to correct it online. We ordered our food and after a 65 minute wait it finally came to the table. Both plates were cold. My wife ordered beef tips and baked potatoe. The potatoe was so cold that the butter would not melt and we still do not know what the beef tips actually were. It was some type of meat burnt on both sides and cold. My wife had to send it back. Her next plate had the same beeftips but the potatoe was half done so she was able to eat the cooked part. My plate was catfish and baked potatoe. The catfish was cold and the baked potatoe was warm on the bottom so I ate that part. Let me say these plates were my no means large servings. When our bill came we saw we were charged a eighteen per cent tip. I left a tip on the table. When checking out I told the cashier I had left a tip on the table but I would not be paying an eighteen per cent tip for long wait time and bad food. She told me they had signs up they were short staffed but she did take the tip off although she was not happy about it. My wife took the beef tips home and threw them away. Jeromes used to be our favorite place to eat. Something has changed in recent months. We were there a few weeks ago and the pan flounder taste rotten. Other family was there the same night and their pan flounder was also rotten and they had a roach run across their table and salad bar was not cold. Decided to give it another try tonight. My sirloin tips taste like they were cooked in teriyaki sauce. Not good at all. My husband had liver and onion with a sweet potato but got a baked potato. The menu said 9.99 for the liver and onion but was charged 11.99. When he questioned it at the register she just said well that is what it is and got an attitude. Very disappointing. My family hired Jerome's steak and seafood to cater our daughters wedding. Both families and the guests couldn't be more happy. The food was delicious, hit and plentiful. We catered for 100 guests max. But when more than that showed up, they took care of business. There was plenty of food and drinks for everyone . I would recommend them for whatever occasion you have. We frequently stop in Jerome's. For Mothers Day we went on Friday before. I ordered an 18 Oz ribeye thinking I would have plenty to take home...wrong! This steak was half fat. Very greasy. Bad choice on my part. Same can be said for the prime rib which I just had this week. Half was fat and very greasy. Ordered both medium well and they came out bleeding. Wait staff was great. Fried chicken, roasted chicken, peel and eat shrimp, meatloaf, ham...I asked a lady who was refilling the mashed potatoes there how long she had .we worked there and she said 18 years! I came here with a party of about 8.. there was family in Myrtle Beach and we live in Wilmington.. so this was about halfway. I didn't pick it, but we didn't have many options so I was fine with giving it a try.. We all ordered in typical family style.. and made it through that.. the server was young, but experienced and polite. She brought plates for the salad bar... I haven't been to a salad bar in 20 years. So.. I walked on over to check it out.. and it was amazing.. an entire lunch buffet was available on the salad bar. That actually impressed me. The food on it wasn't bad for what it was either.. plentiful, stocked, and at the proper temperatures. Not a culinary travel through cultures in the way of chicken salad.. but a decent chicken salad. And cheap! And this wasn't even what I ordered, this was a starter. When the main came out.. I was pretty excited. I ordered the Ribeye as I was told it's amazing here. It arrived larger than I predicted.. and cooked spot on perfect. I asked for rare and it was delivered. I hate when I order a rare steak and I get one passed medium-rare. My date, who also ordered a rare steak, got one slightly underdone. (it is possible to undercook a rare steak.. it's raw, and the fat is white still) but only slightly.. I traded with her and we were fine. The sides were good.. unremarkable.. but still.. not a negative part of the meal at all. We were well past full by the time the mains were done.. so nobody had dessert, plus there were young kids with us so we decided to head home.. All in all, I'll probably never return because of it's far location from me.. but not a bad place at all if you're looking for a steak dinner. read more

A group of 9 ate here Wednesday April 12th. We were visiting family now living at Holden Beach. The restaurant near closing, but the staff was very accommodating. Service was impeccable! Most of us had the salad bar with our meals. It was very good & fresh. We had pan fried whole flounder, fried catfish, baked catfish, beef tips, baked spaghetti and a few kids meals. Food was good & satisfying. The pan fried founder was incredible! Perfectly cooked with fantastic flavor! I highly recommend the flounder. When I return to the area, I will eat here again. read more

The entire place could use an serious redecorating and overhaul. The salad bar was sad to put it mildly. Everything was wilted and the majority of the lettuce was iceberg, with a small sprinkling of greens. The employees all seemed bored and tired. It was very slow, so the waitress asked if it was ok to take our condiments so she could get a head start on closing duties. We didn't even have our food yet, so taking the condiments was a little premature. I ordered the Rib Eye, medium rare, and my husband ordered the Prime Rib, medium. My steak was well on one side and raw on the other. The Prime Rib came out brown. We have never seen brown Prime Rib. The steaks were not seasoned at all before cooking, not even salt and pepper. We were supposed to get a yeast roll, but instead got a slice of bread that had some sort of yellow substance on one side and nothing on the other. The "butter" for the baked potato was not butter at all, but "buttery tasting spread". I could smell as soon as I opened the packet that it was margarine. I'm sorry but a steak house should at least use real butter. The plastic table cloth was sticky, the atmosphere old and tired. read more

The salad bar was nice and fresh, the waitress was super friendly and prompt but if your looking for an actual good steak you are better off grilling at home. The steaks for our whole table were thin and fatty. They looked like steak that would be served at a roadside stop not a steakhouse. The fries were undercooked. The grilled cheese was perfect so if that's what your looking for grilled cheese and salad definitely come here. The ice cream machine is for lunch only which we found very odd. read more

Let's start out with the positive, wife and I got the cheese sticks and fried mushrooms for starters. For the main course she got the filet mignon & shrimp and I got the porterhouse steak and each dinner comes with 1 trip to the salad bar. So we started our meal with our 1 trip to the salad bar which was just ok nothing to really write home about. Ok so salads are done so we are now waiting for the apps to arrive and to our surprise here's dinner. Here filet mignon was good thick and cooked correctly the shrimp is another story. They were those little shrimp breaded and fried and the problem with them is they still had the poop vein in them, gross who wants to eat shrimp poop with their meal so needless to say she did not eat them and you can't blame her for that. Now to my meal I do believe I received the thinnest steak in all of Brunswick County. It was so thin you could remove the bone throw some cheese on it and make a cheese steak out it. And you know the problem with a steak that thin is you just need to kiss a flame and it's cooked so it comes out grayish and over cooked. Thank god there was A-1 sauce on the table it was the only way to give it flavor so I could choke it down. So your probably wondering what about the appetizers we'll they showed up 5 minutes after the main course was served kinda defeats the purpose of calling the starters. To sum it up the appetizers were good, the salad was just ok and my dinner sucked and only half of the wife's dinner sucked. Tonight We figured we'd give Jerome's another try after leaving unhappy there a year prior. My wife and I were seated right away the waitress took our order (deluxe seafood platter) and she returned with our our in literally 3 minutes!!! I started to dig in only to find everything on my plate was COLD!! I sent it back another 3 minutes it returned all was rifling HOT and drenched in oil all you could taste was the hot oil the breading no longer stuck to the shrimp! From that point until we left Jerome's neither the server nor the hostess or the cashier asked how our meal was that is why I'm writing this review hopefully it will prevent diners from wasting there hard earned money on substandard food I hope this review sparks Jerome's to Change there ways but a year later and it seems to have gotten worse! First time eating here and we enjoyed our dinner at Jerome's! Adults had the small fried seafood platter and the sautéed shrimp and scallop platter - both with baked potatoes and slaw. Kids shared the senior's large seafood platter. All was very good. Slaw had a different type of cabbage or other green mixed in that we are not accustomed to, but it wasn't bad- just different. If you like catfish this is the place to go. If you don't want the catfish do NOT eat here. The filet mignon my husband and nephew ordered was not a filet. Looked more like NY strip or a sirloin. The shrimp that came with it were salad six shrimp and looked like they were cooked in the steak's freeze on a flat top griddle. The broiled shrimp I ordered again were salad sized mini shrimp that had a spicy seasoning on them I couldn't figure out what it was and seriously, how do you not get them all cooked when they are so tiny? I was afraid to eat them. The bus staff had stains all over their shirts and just looked dirty. Repurposed Golden Corral building. Atmosphere was terrible. Ordered the filet mignon and shrimp. Filet had fat all in it and I needed A1 for it as well. Never in my life had I seen fat on a filet or needed a sauce to eat one. The shrimps were covered in some kind of cooking oil and weren't any good. They were little baby shrimp. Not really the kind of shrimp you'd expect to get with a filet mignon. The salad bar was decent. I should have just ordered the salad bar. This place did however seem like a favorite for the locals. If you're looking for quality with a relaxing atmosphere, this is not the place to go. read more

The wife and I both ordered the deluxe fried seafood platter. Fried fish, scallops, shrimp, oysters and hushpuppies all for about $17 a pop. Now I've had better seafood, but at this price point it was impressive. This place isn't fancy, and seems to be popular with the locals; but as out of towners looking for a cheaper place to eat that wasn't fast food it fit the bill nicely. Also, as a parent of two boisterous boys this was a great family-friendly place. If I find myself in Ocean Isle again, I will certainly try and return. read more

I'll start by saying that the service was excellent. Our waitress was awesome and very helpful. Our food on the other hand was terrible. I asked my wife how her shrimp turned out and she said, "It was cooked. Thats about it. It was not good." My mother-in-law ordered a medium sirloin that came out WELL done. My father-in-law ordered a hamburger steak that was extremely undercooked. And now for the rack of ribs. Awful is the only word that comes to mind. They were so over cooked that it was almost like chewing leather. It was actually hard to swallow. My meals are typically very large and I couldn't even finish half of this tiny rack of ribs. This would've been a one star review if not for the service. They waitress had five stars all day long, but the food not so much. While paying for the meal, the lady behind the register asked how everything was. I was honest and informed her that the food wasn't good. She only responded with the price and ignored what I said. Honestly, I feel that compensation, of some sort, was in order. No biggie. I'm on vacation. If the food was even a fraction as good as the service, this could be a fantastic place. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! My husband and our friend ordered the prime rib both medium rare and both came out well done - WHY - because there is no medium rare! When paying our bill and leaving we were advised that they pre-order these steaks and have to "warm them up" on the flat top and therefore you cannot get anything less than well done. Absolutely a disgrace for a steak place to not cook their own steaks on site!!! This was the first and LAST time we will ever go to this restaurant! The only thing good about this place is the attractive wait staff. Everything else is horrible. They only serve soda and water and hold no liquor license. The meals are ordered and served quickly...only problem is they are pre prepared and cold. I got the ribs and they were all fatty and gross. If you have a chance to go for lunch, GET THE BUFFET! Even if you go for dinner, the salad bar is very very fresh and they take good care to keep it clean and keep everything full - and its only $6.95 for all you can eat! in 2012, folks! The lunch buffet is more but it has various meats and hot vegetables as well as typical salad bar stuff. Their fried seafood was very good; hot and crispy; fries very good. Hush puppies okay but the hand-blended maple butter spread that comes with them was absolutely AWESOME. I was in town for a week and went THREE TIMES! And I will go back many times more in the future. Its nothing fancy but there is a reason the parking lot is full and there's always a line waiting to get a table! We have been three times. The first was for lunch buffet which was quite good. The second time was seafood for dinner. It was good and plenty, but the deviled crab lacked very much actual crab. The third time was my Birthday. We both ordered filet mignon, medium well. We got what appeared to be well done sirlon. It had gristle and was definitely not a filet. I asked the server if he brought out the wrong order. The server said it was correct and had heard before that the filet had gristle. It was disappointing to say the least. Went with family two months ago, was put in sunroom. Server came quickly, got our drinks, and took our order. She said be right back with salad plates. We waited thirty minutes and she never returned. Complained to manager and assured that was an isolated incident. Went back last night and was seated in the disappearing server's section. I am being generous on the two stars. The cooks are slow, it took about 20 minutes to get our food. Cheryl got the chicken and pasta and it was refrigerator cold , I got the seafood deluxe and I'm here to tell you it was the worse seafood that I have ever had. The scallops we're gritty and so salty, they fried the oysters crispy, the shrimp was fried until they were flat . I told the waitress and she said that Jerome was back there. You would like to think the owner would address this but hell no. We wont be back .oh I forget to mention that the entire plate smelled like oil cooking oil. read more

The salad bar is superb! Service is mostly slow. Slow in getting your cooked food to you. Just slow slow slow. Also, the place really needs to be painted and new carpet (or just removed the stained carpet) Nicer staff would also help.
