The visit went very well. I am naturally scared of lab coats and dentists but the staff always goes out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Dr Jerry yang is very soft spoken, easy to talk to and always explains things well. If he doesn't know (which is rare) he'll always let you know and doesn't try to force or manufacture a response. The hygienist I had is very friendly and is easy to talk to. This visit, like all of my past visits, was great. I had an emergency and did not expect to see Dr. Jerry on such short notice, especially during the MLK holiday. I called Dr. Jerry's office at 12:08 pm, and they got back to me by 12:52 pm, and I was in his office by 2:33 pm. All in the same day! I was looking for a local dentist and I came across Jerry Yang. The staff is super nice and very clean. I found this place during COVID, so protocol is slightly different. They require you to wait outside and they will text you before coming inside. I felt safe and comfortable coming here. I recommend having Stephanie as your dental hygienist. I came here with my 11 year old to get an orthodontics consult. Dr. Yang and his staff were very nice and professional. Dr. Yang was honest in telling me he wasn't comfortable starting Ortho for my son since all his baby teeth had not fallen out yet, along with another dental issue that my son has, and gave me referrals to 2 Orthodontics who specialize in just orthodontia. He was great and never made me feel rushed during this initial visit. She listened patiently about my son's gum infection situation and got my son in the next day appointment. When arrived their office, they arranged room immediately and Dr. Yang would greet you without any long wait. Dr. Yang is professional and patience. (June 2023) Visit #1: New patient appointment for a cleaning & exam. (I sent X-rays ahead of time.) First impressions: office is clean. I like that the front desk sends the links to the forms in advance and they have you wait in your car until they text you when they're ready. Parking is behind the building...huge plus. Covid conscious. Front office staff was pleasant. They take your payment as soon as you get there, before the service is received. (?) Wait time was brief once inside. Hygienist was pleasant and very thorough. Dentist came in, said Hi, & spent max 20 seconds looking in my mouth and they still charged my insurance for a Comprehensive Exam (New Patient Exam) but there was nothing "comprehensive" about it. I wasn't offered a complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste or floss. I just figured they didn't do that. (October 2023) Visit #2: Cleaning and panoramic X-ray. Hygienist was nice. The cleaning was thorough. I was given a complimentary toothbrush and floss this time. (!) The dentist spent a little more time on the exam this time which was nice. (November 2023) Visit #3: Crown replacement. The doctor didn't come in to numb my mouth until 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. (Thankfully, it was my day off...but, it's something to consider when booking.) One of the assistants puts a tablet in front of me (showing just a signature page) and tells me it's a consent form and to please sign it. I ask to see what I'm signing and she toggles back to the actual form. My suggestion would be to lead with that instead of asking patients to blindly sign a document. I asked the doctor why I needed two 2-surface fillings instead of two 1-surface fillings, asking if it were for "retention purposes" and his response seemed snarky. "Well yeah, you can't just put it on one side. It'll fall off." As a former dental professional, I knew that, but he didn't know that I knew so what I was expecting was a courteous & professional response with clarity. The actual procedure was quicker than I expected. The restroom was clean and smelled fresh. Also, the temporary crown was made well and seems secure. (November 2023-same day) Visit #4: Temporary crown bite adjustment. Once the anesthetic wore off, I could feel that an adjustment was needed. The front desk was able to get me in the same day in the late afternoon. The assistant that helped me this time was radiating attitude. In a sense, I can understand. It's the end of the day, another patient is coming in, and she probably couldn't wait to leave. However, the attitude, body language, and tone was so unprofessional and uncalled for. (Plus, I already have anxiety as it is about having a dental procedure...I literally don't want to be there so perhaps it's a lesson for the assistants to prepare the height of the temporary crown properly from the start.) The doctor made some adjustments and eventually it felt better. I could definitely sense they were busy and ready for me to leave. (The doctor reached out to me in response to my review. ) (December 2023) Visit #5: Crown cementation. I had zero problems with the temp crown after it was adjusted. The final crown was cemented quickly and feels good. The doctor also acknowledged my concerns and feedback personally which helps me trust that my dental needs will be cared for. read more
