Passing through Rockford and had a difficult time finding a restaurant with gluten-free options because I have celiac disease. This restaurant has gluten-free toast and a dedicated toaster. I ordered a bacon avocado omelette, it was OK, not great but it came with a side of fruit that had a beautiful presentation. My husband had a chicken chorizo scrambler with jalapeños and corn tortillas. He liked it and the portion size for his meal was generous. The service was very good, they came over multiple times to refill our cups of coffee and water. I did not feel forgot. We have been coming to Jerry's every Sunday for over a year now. Today we got our bill with a 25% automatic tip added to it. We asked why that was on there and they said a week ago they now have policy of adding a 25% tip to the bill. That is crazy! I've never had 25% added to a bill before. We will not be coming back. I absolutely LOVE Jerry's. The food is excellent and the service is always outstanding. My family and I have been there at least 10 time and have never had a bad meal for breakfast or for lunch. It is family owned and you can tell the staff really cares. The menu is plentiful and you can find anything if you have a group with diverse tastes. They don't advertise this, but the Mexican dishes that are on the menu are authentic (Again, the menu has everything for all palettes.) The only reason I can't give it five stars is that it is incredibly ugly. The ambiance is horrible, which is a shame because the food and service is so good. I appreciate that they invest their money in the food and service, but it wouldn't cost much at all to paint the walls a more appropriate color for a restaurant and remove the tacky little decorations all over. It's like they can't decide if the decor should be Italian or contemporary or country....When I go there, I feel anxious because I want to just organize it and put real artwork on the walls. Hire an interior decorator or really Just get someone who has a little better eye for design to just spend one or maybe two weekends making it look nicer, and it would make all the difference. read more

Came here because of the good reviews. The atmosphere and decor obviously needs some serious attention. Everything looks like it came from an old dusty garage sale and was spread all over the place. But no biggy, the food is what matters most right? Well, I ordered the Spanish Benedict, and my husband ordered the cinnamon roll French toast. Very underwhelming. Food was bland. Salt and Cholula sauce couldn't have helped my Benedict a single bit. I ordered a pancake on the side which was a wheat cake. What? And tasted like they put too much water in the batter. Even the syrup was gross. I've been to some small town/outdated cafes that serve some mean awesome food. But this place is not it. I give it 2 stars because the staff was kind. read more

Pretty busy on Sunday at 10:30a but only waited about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared. Wife and I had a quick breakfast. Meal was an avocado crepe, a side order of biscuits and gravy, and a side of bacon. The crepe contained a lot of filling but was too thick in my opinion to be called a crepe; much closer to a Swedish pancake in thickness and density. The biscuits and gravy were flakey and the gravy had a good flavor but a wee shy in the sausage (never enough sausage in any restaurant gravy for me.) Lastly the bacon. Reasonably thick and cooked to a nice crispiness. Service was very good and attentive even with all the tables being full. Restaurant was simple, uncluttered and clean. read more

What a nice "find" for a hearty breakfast on our way back from FL to MN. Timing was perfect as we rolled through Rockford early in the AM (opens at 6:30AM). Menu had the classics as well as a nice change of pace if you wanted to stray from eggs, toast, meat and potato. Coffee was fresh and refills were offered several times during our meal. A bit further off the interstate than we normally stray, but it reviewed well on Yelp and was exactly what we needed as the sun rose in the East. Go to Jerry's- they will not disappoint. read more

After living in Vegas for 20 years before coming back to Rockford, I didn't think I would find a place with a good burger. No more. Ordered the burger medium and that's what came out. It was done just right, nice and juicy. From the look of the place, it's apparent that the staff lives the restaurant philosophy of "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean." The place looked nice and shiny and definitely inviting. Biscuits and gravy are the best in the area for me. My husband put them second behind Hearthstone Cafe. Full of flavor with perfect biscuits. My yogurt bowl was full of a variety of fresh fruit, two kinds of yogurt, walnuts and yogurt. It was a big serving but I enjoyed every bite. Staff was friendly, the restaurant is very clean and prices are very competitive. Our waitress left a lot to be desired but that won't keep us from going back to try more items on their extensive menu. read more

Rockford has a great many establishments that serve a quality breakfast. This establishment is not unlike any number of small diners and would be easy to overlook due to it's unassuming appearance. To do so would be a mistake at your expense. In the otherwise very ordinary diner, you will find food of superior quality notably lacking in locations of similar appearance. In addition to the best breakfast skillets I have had the pleasure of eating in the area, there is home made hot sauce available to complement an already superior meal.
