While visiting friends in Baytown and doing some Christmas Day shopping, we spotted this location and thought, why not give it a try? I thought of their oaded potatoes, but ended up going with the half sandwich, half soup combo instead. I chose the chipotle avocado chicken sandwich and the chicken pot pie soup. Service was surprisingly fast despite it being around lunchtime, there was only one other table near us. Once we placed our order, the food arrived in under five minutes. The sandwich tasted good, but it was a bit light on protein. I wish they had added a couple more pieces of chicken. The chicken pot pie soup, on the other hand, was tasty and very thick--almost gravy-like in consistency. They also offer free ice cream, which is a nice perk, though it was a little icy for my liking. Still, it's a fun touch. Overall, the experience was solid with quick service and friendly staff. They did ask if I had a Jason's Deli Rewards account and if I wanted to sign up, but it's not a place I visit often enough to justify it.

It's my favorite thing on the menu. The Fiesta chicken sandwich is my number two. They have some of the best sugar cookies I've ever had. The thing is, they are always out! I've been several times, and they never have them. I've even been early, and they don't have any. I'm not sure if they're lazy and just don't bake them or if they're discontinued, but it's a real disappointment. This is one reason why I'm giving this shop 4 stars instead of 5. The other reason is they sell cinnamon rolls. I think it's even in their name. The Cinnamon rolls are expensive and aren't fresh. I guess they bake them early and leave them out all day, or they're using the previous days batch. I would skip them and go across the street to Shipleys for something similar. The sandwiches are a little pricey at around $10 for a regular. The large supposedly had twice the calories as the regular, so you would think that it would be about twice the amount of food, but unfortunately it's not. I would estimate that it's about 50 percent the amount, and it sits at $15. I wouldn't recommend getting the large to get a better deal unless you're hungry! This could be just this location sandwich makers, but it's been consistent since I've been going. Even with these issues, I'm giving them 4 stars because ultimately the sandwiches are delicious, and this is what most people are going for.

My wife and I stopped in for a bite to eat after a service in the Woodlands on Sunday morning. After perusing their menu which was quite extensive, we decided to split a Klassic Ruben with Sauerkraut and Corned Beef on Rye. Wow! We were so delighted with our meal! This Ruben was just dripping with deliciousness. Just as good as we would have gotten in Palm Springs, Hollywood or New York. And the fries were nothing to sneeze at either. Hot, fresh and crispy. Just how I like them. Coupled with our Long Island Express and Beringer Red Sangria, we were two very happy dinners. The service at Katz's was just as good as the food. Brian was prompt and extremely professional. We did return a week later and both enjoyed a meal a half pastrami and corned beef and my wife a Philly Cheesesteak both with Tomato Basil soup. Again, another outstanding meal. There were so many delicious items to choose from on their menu we can't wait to return to try their breakfast selection, their dinner/main features and some of their fabulous looking deserts. Katz Deli looks to us to be a Jewish style deli with a touch of Texas/Southern/Cajun flavor. We ordered the banana pancakes (about 3 for $9, which is a great deal), corned beef hash and eggs with a bagel and cream cheese -- some of the best I've had at a breakfast spot, and a brisket bowl (not pictured). Everything came out quickly and hit the spot for a late-night meal. Late-night bites for Easter are a tradition for us, and Katz's ended up being such a great surprise. Definitely a place I'd come back to more often.

We traveled to Galveston to visit the store and restaurant firsthand. For years, we followed Ronnie Maceo's story and were saddened by his passing. Thankfully, his daughter, Concetta, has continued the family legacy. We were fortunate to meet her during our visit. She was incredibly gracious, and spending time with her made the experience even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, and we couldn't leave without stocking up on spices and sauces. It's amazing how much history, culture, and tradition are packed into this one place. The gumbo roux is the perfect rich, dark color, and the flavor is everything you hope for--authentic, hearty, and reminiscent of New Orleans. Concetta also shared the weekly specials, giving us even more reasons to return. Needless to say, every future trip to Galveston will include a stop at Maceo's. I highly recommend adding Maceo's to your bucket list. See you there!

If you do not feel like waiting and are in a rush, this is not the place for you. Please come back when you have time to enjoy the atmosphere and the amazing food. I was telling one of the servers to please pass along my compliments to the chef and the owners. I was having a rather rough morning on our first visit. The best way I can describe the deliciousness of the food was that I went from being a little bit meh, to a strong to feeling like I was having a warm hug. I ordered the biscuits and gravy my other half ordered the berries and cream cinnamon French toast, and my little ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake with cinnamon. We came back another day and all ordered the same thing again, and it was just as amazing as the first time. The inside of the building is quite rustic. Even though you are waiting a bit for your food, there is so much to look at that time just passes by. Even in the bathroom will keep you occupied, and not just with the normal activities . The staff was amazingly friendly. On the second day, the gentleman server did not know whether the Mickey Mouse pancake should have the cinnamon bun toppings on it (you know,...because kids might start bouncing off of the ceiling), or sprinkles and whipped cream. We requested the latter and he came over and put on a tiny show for my little. The gentleman made a fun little show of putting whipped cream on Mickey and let my little decorate his own pancake. Definitely a 10/10 experience and we will be returning when we are around these parts again.
