While very creamy, the cheese left a funny after taste I didn't like. Now the banana pudding on the other hand, that was amazing! It reminded me of southern style banana pudding with hints of cinnamon. My husband picked up the order for me. It was ready quickly and the servers were very friendly from what he said. My wife spent the summer of her freshman year working at this one and she verified there is nothing disgusting going on here. (Not sure if I can say same for the one in Wallingford). The orginal McRib was a work of legend, and is sorely missed (Its why it made the rib list) Last but not least, apparently pregnant ladies love McD's French Fries and this is the only one she trusts :-) (Though have to admit the one on Univerisal Drive is also on quite an upswing!) I walked into Popeyes, was promptly greeted by a very friendly young lady with a "good morning! May I help you"? I perused the menu, made my selection, and my tray with lunch was on the counter in less than half a minute. This was my very first time in a Popeyes, and I must say I was impressed with the service and cleanliness of the tables and dining area. The 4 piece spicy chicken combo was actually not bad. The pieces were perfectly cooked, if a bit small, and clearly had not been sitting under the heat lamp very long at all. The side of Cajun rice was ok (about what I'd expect in a fast food joint), not dried out at least. The biscuit was "ok" as well for the same reason. The sparkler of my lunch was the very surprisingly good frozen lemonade! It was very good, if just a tiny bit too sweet (my taste). If in the area when tummy tells me it's time to eat fast food, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in here.....and it's right near a Burger King & a McDonalds.

Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. I ordered a chicken sandwich and an order of loaded fries topped with chicken bites around 5:30 p.m. At the time, there were only two orders ahead of mine, so I expected a fairly quick wait. As the minutes turned into an hour, I started to get concerned. Around 6:30 p.m., I asked about my order and was told they were still working on it. Meanwhile, I watched multiple customers who had ordered after me receive their food and leave. By around 7:15 p.m., the employee who had originally taken my order noticed I was still waiting and asked if I had received my food. When I told her I hadn't, it took another 10 minutes before my order was finally brought out. By then, I was already late for another commitment and had to take most of my meal to go. The long wait might have been forgivable if the food had been worth it, but it wasn't. Everything was cold. The chicken sandwich was not only cold but also undercooked. The loaded fries were disappointing as well--the fries themselves were barely edible, the cheese sauce was cold, and the chicken on top was cold too. After waiting nearly an hour and a half, receiving food in that condition was incredibly frustrating. The following morning, I left a review, and management responded. I appreciated that they acknowledged my feedback, but the response was little more than a brief apology stating they strive for excellence and thanking me for bringing the issue to their attention. Given the severity of the experience an excessive wait, cold food, and undercooked chickenI expected more than a generic two-sentence reply. A refund, an offer to remake the meal, or even a gift card to give the restaurant another chance would have shown they genuinely cared about making things right. I understand that restaurants have bad days. Looking back, I probably should have been more assertive and spoken with a manager before leaving, but I was already late and didn't have the time. My hope is that this was an isolated experience and not representative of every Dave's Hot Chicken location. Unfortunately, based on this visit and the lack of meaningful follow-up, I have no desire to return. When a customer waits nearly 90 minutes and is served cold, undercooked food, the appropriate response is to make it right not simply apologize and move on.

Glenwood Drive-In is a historic family restaurant that opened in Hamden, Connecticut in 1955. It…read morewas founded by Rocky Stone. The property was originally a small drive-in that operated under a different name. Stone purchased the drive-in after working as a Tip-Top salesman and deliveryman. He renamed it "Glenwood" and expanded the menu, hours and the physical building. After Stone passed away in 1960, his son Frank "Wayne" Stone took it over and he continues to run it today. In the early days, the Glenwood had a walk-up service window similar to establishments such as Dairy Queen. Over the years, Wayne remodeled the interior and added an indoor seating area. The menu consists of staples such as footlongs, chili dogs, cheeseburgers, clam strips, lobster rolls, soft shell crab, fries, onion rings, and much more! Although the establishment is no longer a traditional drive-in restaurant, the Glenwood still hosts classic car "Cruise Nights" every Wednesday during the warmer months. In 1985, Wayne's daughter opened "Kelly's Cone Connection": an adjoining ice cream parlor business that is connected to the Glenwood. Although both businesses share the same space, they operate as separate entities. Kelly makes all of her own ice cream, hot fudge, waffle cones, ice cream pies and birthday cakes in house. Customers can expect to choose from about 35 different flavors on any given day. My family and I recently stopped for dinner at Glenwood Drive-In. Growing up in the area, I visited the Glenwood several times throughout my childhood. I also frequently accompanied my father to "Cruise Nights" when he still owned a 1971 Triumph TR6. On this outing, we ordered a variety of menu items including a "Chili Cheese Dog", "Footlong", "Chicken Fingers w/ Fries", and "Fried Shrimp w/ Fries". There's something about those classic menu staples that just really hit the spot. Afterwards, we headed through the adjoining doorway to Kelly's Cone Connection for dessert. It was a special occasion because the ice cream parlor was hosting a meet & greet with Spider-Man himself. The event coincided with the release of a new monthly special called the "Spidey-Sundae" (Firework 250 Poprock ice cream w/ golden Oreos, a frosting and sprinkle rim w/ a cotton candy web, poprocks, & a Spider-Man ring). My sons both had a blast meeting Spider-Man and eating his special ice cream treat. I tried a different monthly special: the "New England Clam Chowder" (sweet cream salted caramel ice cream w/ white chocolate "clams", dried mint, vanilla wafers, white chocolate shell). The presentation was immaculate and the flavor combo was simply divine! If you're looking for classic American drive-in food along with some fantastic ice cream, then head to Glenwood Drive-In and Kelly's Cone Connection!
