I absolutely love Jersey Mike's. I have been visiting their different CA locations for the past few years and I would take them over any sub shop. The Encinitas store isn't as great as the Solana Beach store, but is closer to me. I normally order the #13 Italian Sub, Mike's Way, with extra juice, or the #6 Roast Beef and Provolone, Mike's Way, extra juice. The roast beef at the Encinitas store isn't as pink and juicy, that's really my only complaint since I absolutely love how Jersey Mike's usually cooks it. Their regular sandwhiches are so large I can barely finish one in a sitting. The hot sandwhiches are also very delicious. This will always continue to be my #1 pick! Ever since a co-worker introduced me to this place, I have been hooked! I was kind of sick of the usual fair of sandwiches at those other chain places, and was excited to try something new (yes, lunch is the exciting part of my work day). Recently i have been going to this location often because sandwiches seem to be one of my big pregnancy cravings and jersey mike's seem to be the only place around my work that has fresh sliced turkey i trust.However.. Since going here i have noticed and experienced a couple things that have made me question coming back. First, almost every time i visit this location i get asked by the staff "what i do for a living" or "where i work" "if my work it busy" etc. I get the concept of small talk with the customer but aren't those questions a little personal?. Next i noticed after making a few sandwiches the employee making the sandwiches will scrape all the excess lettuce off the counter tops and throw it back in the bin of lettuce to use on the next sandwich. Pretty disgusting. And finally today i went in for my usual sandwich and came out with a dripping soggy mess by the time i got back to work. I asked for the standard "mike's way" and got a sandwich drenched in oil and vinegar. In the 15 min it took my to drive back to work the oil had already seeped through the wrapper and was starting to soak the bag. Yes, when the sandwiches are made carefully and right they are delicious! but i kind feel like its a gamble walking in there. Definitely not consistent every time. read more

I wanted a great sandwich, but not familiar with any sandwich shops along El Camino Real so I stopped in here. Had I been on 101, I would have stopped at Sub Palace which makes a pretty fantastic sammy. My friend from Jersey swears Jersey Mikes are the best sandwiches so I thought I would give them a try. WHAT A MISTAKE! THE WORST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD. The bread had no flavor. The turkey club with Mikes choice, or whatever they call it, was just piss poor. I am sorry, but avocado spread is not avocado. Felt completely ripped off paying $5.50 for a mini, which was the right size for me, but a waste of good money on such a lousy sandwich. And to make things even worse, they handed me a twisted bag with my sandwich which had not one single napkin in it even though I told them it was to go. Not sure where to begin with this one...sandwiches are WAY overpriced at $7.50 and the sandwich makers take too long to make the sandwich. The bread very dry and it came without condiments like mayo or mustard. There was really nothing special. We also ordered a wrap that took forever to make. When we got it the hot chicken made the lettuce soggy and it wasn't wrapped tight making it a sloppy mess. It wasn't cut completely either so when you ripped off the bottom 1/2 it fell apart. This was my first time eating at Jersey Mike's and I will not be returning. I will take Togo's anyway over this place. This location has some great subs but what I noticed was there weren't many veggie choices for the sandwiches. The bread is fresh and tasted great. Over all good sandwich and nice people working and fast service. Just would be nice to see some more veggie choices for my sandwich :) read more

I really wanted to like Jersey Mike's. I had heard good things about the other locations and wanted to try it at the new Encinitas location. I've been to a lot of sandwich places and had a lot of subs, but I don't think I've ever had such a poor experience as I did here. Let me preface by saying that I'm an easy going person and usually the last to bitch about anything at a restaurant. It's hard work with little reward. So I went into Jersey Mike's, and waited a longer than normal amount of time before the busy girl behind the counter acknowledged me and took my order. The menu says that any sandwich can be a wrap for the same price. I ordered a Turkey and Provolone wrap with no tomatoes, onions, oil, and vinegar, and was handed my ticket. I looked at it, and everything seemed in order. Then I watched the usual sub shop routine of the guy behind the counter building subs for the customers before me. Adding whatever they requested, and leaving out what they didn't want. When it came to my turn, I was ignored. I thought they'd just slap down a tortilla of my choice and start filling it with stuff I requested. Instead, the guy behind me started telling them what he wanted as the sub maker started on his. I was a little confused, but thought someone else would come up and make it. When I got to the register, the girl asked what I had. Before I could speak, said sub maker interjected that I had ordered a hot sub. I showed the register girl my ticket and said that I ordered a wrap. She then informed me that my wrap was made by the hot subs, so that's why there was confusion. I then asked if I could add the fresh vegetables behind the glass to my wrap as everybody else had as theirs was being made. That's when the record screeched to a stop. Three people behind the counter looked at me like I requested the space shuttle be re-engineered seconds before launch. I asked if I could add peperoncinis, their sweet pepper spread, and spices. So the girl took my ticket and basically said that I could add that stuff and it would include everything I didn't want on the ticket. I informed her that those were the things I didn't order. Then the original order taker came over and cleared everything up with me and disappeared to make the changes to my wrap. I then sat down and waited. After about five minutes, I pulled out my phone and looked at Yelp to see if anybody else had this experience. Nope, all 5 stars. After another 10 minutes, three people behind the counter yelled my name and I got up and took my wrap to go. When I got home, I unwrapped it and looked into the little wrap cut in half, only to notice that everything I had requested to be added to the wrap was missing and everything I didn't want was staring up at me. I was so hungry that I ate it anyway. Turkey was okay. I had to check to make sure the flavorless provolone was there. Also, as I ate it, it started dripping an odd white liquid (insert joke here). Overall, really bad experience at this sub shop. Won't go back here again. read more

manager told me to give them another try. and I get a super soggy sandwich that's was to disgusting to eat. the lettuce the use was swimming in water and transferred all the water it was in to my sandwich. I will be driving back with my uneaten POS they try to pass off as food and take this up with the district manager maybe they will care if they are serving crap to their customers. this is the only Jersey mikes that can't seem to grasp the concept of how to make an editable sandwich. been to several other mikes and they are all fantastic to bad i live by the reject one. read more

Very tasty cold sandwiches if you order them 'Mike's Way.' Mikes Way is spritzing the innards with olive oil and vinegar, followed by oregano. I do not recommend the hot sandwiches (eg, Philly steak). The giant size sandwich is enough for 3 meals. read more

Don't know what it is, but I love this place. I actually crave it occasionally and will drive 15 mins from work to get here for lunch. When on a road trip, I'll seek them out when I want something light and uncomplicated. Maybe it is the paper thin sliced deli meats, or the above average bread, or the "Mikes Way" with oil, vinegar, and oregano. Whatever it is, I just know that I can't seem to replicate it at home. 3 stars is the best a chain based sub shop is going to get from me - so consider it 5 stars if you want to adjust for deflation. read more

Customer service at this place is a complete joke! I went in yesterday 9/20/17 to have lunch and once I was ready to pay I was asked to enter my phone number. I thought he was joking and started to laugh. He said I don't know why you can't use them its broken so today its $9 and some change. Not once did he offer to find out why or have a manager explain.
