I've been going there for a while, but that's come to an end. The owner's son (may be the owner now) has little understanding of customer service or management (entitled maybe). As the owner of a small business with 20 full-time employees, I understand it can be stressful. However, you never direct this stress toward the paying customer. You had only five people to manage along with your own professional courtesy. I entered the store and ordered a regular size chicken kahuna. I said just as it comes on the menu. The sandwich should have been cooked to order because it's a hot sub, but it was handed to me almost immediately. Once I paid at the register. they did not have enough time to cook it fresh. It was cool. There was absolutely no cheese on it so it was very dry. The employees were all acting very foolish with laughing and talking back in the kitchen and obviously we're not interested in helping anyone in this restaurant. Alright, so I don't usually write reviews like this, and it's honestly kinda depressing that I have to, but here we are. Tonight, I was picking up a to-go order, and the dude who seemed to be either the manager or front-of-house staff served up the wildest attitude to the guy in front of me. The whole interaction was so rude, I was standing there like..."what?" Never been to a place where staff is on their phone the second you walk in, still on it while taking orders and, mind you, while discussing dietary restrictions. Ordered this today. I did add the bite mark, but once I realized there was only bread in the first bite of the 26 dollar "double meat" sandwich I decided to snap a photo of it. I wanted to add an additional sandwich in the middle of my others still being mad and the guy taking order (manager I'm assuming) rolled his eyes and blew his breath as if I was inconveniencing him by spending more money. The food is amazing, but what really stood out is the staff's dedication to doing things right. My wife is allergic to wheat and ordered a gluten free sub roll. The staff immediately wiped the crumbs off the counter, cleaned the meat cutter, changed gloves, and used a bottle instead of their regular knife to apply her mayonnaise. The last review I wrote about Jersey Mike's Subs was in October of 2018. All the workers there were really nice, the service was fast, and the food was great. But THAT review is in the list of those reviews that are "not recommended" to be viewed here. So you'll have to click on the "not recommended" link to read the few reviews...good and bad...not openly put out for all of us to see. The reason now for THIS review (Sorry it's so long): My husband and I decided to go over to Jersey Mike's yesterday around 4:30 pm and get a couple of Giant subs since we hadn't been there for quite some time. Wow... the atmosphere there has definitely changed! Only 4 people working: 1. A heavyset middle-aged guy at the meat/cheese slicer with a really bad attitude towards everyone...EVERYONE...there while we were there! The guy doesn't pick and choose his "victims" too. He's very "ecumenical" in that he obviously hates EVERYONE. Slicer Guy was rude, abruptly cut people off in mid-sentence while they were giving their orders to him, walked away while they were still talking, and treated everyone, even the co-workers, as though they weren't worth being civil to! Personally, I've never experienced such a consistently high level of rudeness in any place dependent upon repeat customer service! He must be at least part-owner because an EMPLOYEE would have been fired for blatantly jeopardizing the earnings of that business! He also needs an in-service class on cleanliness because he apparently hadn't cleaned his slicer off in hours from what I observed: the meat/cheese buildup on that machine's blade as well as on the surrounding machine parts would never pass any city or state inspection! (Yes, I understand "busy" but a slicer doesn't have to stay dirty. At the VERY least, it could still be cleaned off between orders with damp wrung-out cloth towels that get stored in a cleaning-solution-filled container when not in use.) Apparently, he also has no concern about any customers who don't want cheese on their subs, or are allergic to it. Whatever happened to using TWO slicers...one for meat and the other for cheese?! Also, the small loose cheese and meat fragments that were "just cut" but didn't go into the subs (thankfully) were dry-wiped away with a few tosses of a short white towel...that, when NOT in use...was also tossed "here" and "there" around his work area AFTER using it to wipe his hands! He repeatedly used this same dry contaminated cloth the entire time we were there. Sigh. I'm glad my husband and I have VERY strong immune systems! 2. A young guy putting all the subs together by himself and working his buns off. But the kid was getting the orders right and kept his station clean between orders! Good job! The Giant roast beef/turkey club he made for me was perfect! I felt bad for him, though, because he definitely looked uneasy at working next to that middle-aged Slicer Guy. Hey, I would too. 3. A guy in the back, making the hot subs. Only saw the top of his head. But the Giant Philly Cheese Steak he made for my husband (& wrapped up) came out great! 4. And another young guy at the register who reminded us that we could get chips, cookies, etc, with our meal. Good job in the "selling" department! :) There were 5 customers ahead of my husband and me. Unfortunately, the THIRD customer ahead of us ordered 4 SUBS! You would have thought he had committed a crime! And while that customer repeatedly tried to tell him what was wanted on each of the subs, Slicer Guy kept interrupting him! My impression of Slicer Guy is that he doesn't want repeat business or large orders since the attitude he gave that one 4-sub customer wasn't appropriate at all! And I got the impression from that customer's face that if he wasn't bringing back subs for others, he'd have just walked out! Well, we got our subs and they were great. AND we're not sick today. :) However, it's going to be another long time before we ever go back there. NOBODY should ever have to put up with or even LISTEN to such a rude attitude as Slicer Guy's. HE needs to be "working from home" and NOT with customers! read more

Went this passed weekend to this location in Gastonia because the onion ordering shut off so I decided to go inside, wasn't greeted way all once I stepped up to the counter, after waiting my turn in the line, with just a "what do you want?" I proceeded to tell the man, who I assume is the manger which I've seen multiple times and never seems to be in a better mood than the last time I saw him. Telling the man my order he continues to mumble back responds that I can't hear due to the volume of the tv in the area. For him to basically yell at me saying they had no white or rosemary parmesan bread, that I'll have to wait 15mins. What establishment, that sell subs, sell out of bread?? on a Saturday night?? I get upset with the way I'm being treated so I walk out the door saying that the place was a joke of the restaurant. Which the same man yells at me asking what I said and to say it to their face. I turned around and told the man to "have a great night" in which he yells at me to do the same which I in turn tell him " I wouldn't come back to this place so I will." In general I am a big fan of Jersey Mike's. Unfortunately this location this morning did not meet my expectations. The order was incorrect, but I can understand that since we are wearing masks. It's very possible they mis-heard me What I was disappointed in was (1) the soda machine was clearly not changed out and had a terrible taste to it. I used to go To Jersey Mikes in Johnson City, TN. It was awesome. Staff were always polite, and helpful. Place was very clean. I was excited when I finally found this one! Well, the cashier didn't realize that I get to Pick what I wanted on salad. The salad Was in a box Much smaller than the one that I had been used to. Tried to tell me the paper was cheaper than plastic(by what.000001 cent?) and the serving size was the same. Then said it is a sub in a tub, not a salad in a tub. Well, it is a salad. I will NEVER return to this store. I've been there probably 15-18 times and EVERY time the slightly heavy middle aged man is there (I think the manager or owner), he is rude to me, EVERY TIME. I can't eat bread, so I ALWAYS order chicken salad in a cup, 1 packet of ranch dressing and how ever many saltine crackers they will give me. Never have a problem ordering this as long as this man is not there. I have never been told "they aren't supposed to sell the chicken salad this way". Well, why not? It's the same amount that goes on a sandwich, charge me for the whole 6 inch, I'm fine with that. But EVERYTIME this man is there and he takes my order he grumbles and whines and is as rude as he can be. Today I ordered 1 small tub and 3 large tubs of chicken salad (and these tubs are small, very small. He threw a 6 inch piece of bread on the counter and started to cut it and I said "no bread please, just the chicken salad in a tub". He said "you don't want a sandwich? And I said no, I can't eat bread. I just want chicken salad, crackers and ranch dressing". He said "well, I have no way to ring this up" and I said, I've ordered this very same meal at least 15 times and never have a problem unless you're here and today is the first time you've ever told me you aren't suppose to sell it this way." I always pay the price of a 6 inch chicken salad sub. I expected today to be more, but $22.00 for this small amount of chicken salad? And on top of that they gave me 1 pack of ranch dressing and 4 crackers. And the employees behind the counter looked terrified, like they experience his abuse a lot. This is my husband's and my absolute 'go to' sub shop! Everyone working there is extremely nice, and they all try hard to give you exactly what you want. The older gentleman who owns this franchise is from New Jersey, and he and my hubby have quite the conversation whenever we go there while this owner's on duty. (Two New Jerseyites who grew up in the same area. Lol.) The Philly cheesesteak sub is something you have to try! Love that one! But in actuality, ALL the subs we've ordered have been heavy with meat and ingredients. No skimping, here! And the tomatoes, onions, etc, are always fresh, ripe, and delicious. Also, the owner told us that if we want something that's not on the menu...like those Pastrami Burgers we used to get out in Los Angeles...we can tell Jersey Mike's what the ingredients are and they'll try to replicate it as close as possible. Guess what I'm ordering next time we go there! (Will try to replicate that great L A sandwich by using plain meatballs for the burger, Provolone cheese, mayo, salt & pepper, and their wonderful pastrami. Lol.) FYI: The pastrami they use is the 'Real McCoy' like what those of us used to order when we were younger and living in New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts! Remember the fatty edges of each slice, the grease, the tenderness, and the FLAVOR? Yummmm. Also, just when you think things can't get any better, their SUB BREAD will blow you out of the water! White or wheat, it is to die for! Longer than the usual 12" subs everyone else gives you and SO SOFT that you'll think it was baked 'tomorrow' for use today! I have NEVER had such soft sub bread in my life! It definitely puts all the other sub shops to shame. If you're not too hungry, you can always go to the other sub shops. But if you're really hungry or even 'starving', Jersey Mike's is the place to head to! The s tire was not clean with almost all tables covered in crumbs and/or trash. That's not the biggest issue with this location. This is my favorite sub place. They have amazing options and they are not afraid to load on the toppings. The tomatoes are always cut perfectly and extremely fresh. They cut the meat and cheese as you order each sub. The option to get a sub in a tub makes it feel cool to get a salad. I enjoy their tuna that they make in house. Mikes way is the way to go. They have a great blend of seasoning and oil which is exactly what all subs need. read more
