I ordered delivery via Uber Eats. They had a deal for a free item if you ordered $20. So, I ordered a full size "The Original Italian" which allowed me to get the free item. The choices were numerous and I got a "Jersey Shores Favorite". It was free. I ate half of the huge Italian and it was absolutely delicious. Fresh cut meats, fresh veggies, and the bread was amazing. I essentially got 3 meals for a very fair price. My delivery packaging was excellent. The delivery from Uber Eats was very quick. A great experience by all. I just came from the Jersey Mikes on Phillips Hwy. Spent close to $25.00 on a "giant" Italian sub (which anywhere else would be a large), a bag of chips and a medium drink. I asked to have the bread toasted and was told "no"!!! Apparently their motto is cold subs are cold and hot subs are hot. "Okay". Needless to say I was not impressed and won't be going back!!!! I ordered via GrubHub for dinner. My delivery man brought my sandwich to me earlier than expected. My sandwich and my cookie were in the bag, and the seal on the bag had not been tampered with. My first bite, I could tell there was plenty of meat, the bread was fresh, and I liked that there was oil and vinegar on the sandwich and not mayo like some sub shops. I wanted to grab a quick lunch and thought to myself, what would my husband want for lunch? Most of the time on a weekend when we're looking to just grab something quick, he'll say I want a Big Kahuna from Jersey Mike's, so I decided to go online and place an order, so I could run in quickly. I ordered online. Their ordering platform is pretty simple and painless. I ordered one chicken cheesesteak with no onions, no peppers, no mushrooms, and one Big Kahuna. I will say their prices are a tad expensive. I think it came to roughly $18 after tax, which I don't consider super inexpensive. I parked (BTW, the parking lot can be overly crowded around lunchtime, so beware, you may have to park farther away and this location doesn't have spots for curbside pickup. I walked in, didn't really know where to grab my online order. Then I saw a woman go directly to the cashier to pickup her online order, so I followed her lead. I picked up my order and was on my way. I scored some brownie points from my husband, because he didn't expect me to pick up lunch. I opened my sub and was disappointed to see they put peppers and onions on the sandwich. I picked off as many as I could, and decided to eat it. The sandwich itself was tasty. The chicken wasn't like a chicken breast, but shaved, which I really liked, the cheese was melted and the bread was soft. You know how much I love your Big Kahuna Cheese Steak Sub with it's melted cheese and spicy peppers mixed in with thinly sliced steak. Yes, last night I broke down and ordered a sub from Jersey Mike's and it was delicious. Yes it was the Big Kahuna sub. I don't go to Jersey Mike's too often but when I do I use my Jersey Mike's shore points to collect points for a free sub in the future. I tend to usually get a free sub once a year from the points; and being a member I also get a free sub on my birthday. This location of Jersey Mike's is very clean and the service is ok. Have been to this Jersey Mike's a number of times and have never had any issues. Last time I called ahead after finding out the local Pita Pit had closed and ordered a Giant Chipotle Cheesesteak. For me the big selling point is always the bread it's always so soft and fresh and that's half the battle with a good cheesesteak. I'm actually shocked to see anything less than 5 stars with this place. While I get a pretty basic sub here that is hard to screw up, my husband LOVES the philly steak here. I'm from Jacksonville and dare I say it, this place is better than Pub Subs! (Cue shock and horror). I mean if you are into hard bread, then sure Publix is the way to go (ya like what I did there, huh)...but the bread is soft at JM and the meat is sliced fresh. I am probably one of the few people that just doesn't understand the deal with Jersey Mikes. First the good...the service is always good and the people seem nice enough. The location is great to et in and out of. They have limited options which is good for the indecisive people. Now for the parts I don't love...the bread is okay but it isn't anything special. I think the bread at subway or publix is much better. The meats are all displayed in the case and all are water added. I feel like I am way overpaying for the quality of the meat you get. I personally also don't like that they cut the bread all the way through so when you pick up your sandwich everything falls out. I may return once in a while but would rather go to publix or subway. Their subs are absolutely delicious my favorite being the Big Kahuna Chicken cheesesteak fully loaded without jalapeños and Parmesan Rosemary bread it is mouthwatering! My mom is a tuna fan I am not lol but she loves their tuna sub and she said it is the best tuna outside home where she doesn't make it. this is a huge compliment from her! Like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, we have been on a hunt for the holy grail of cheesesteaks since we moved down to the Jax area. So, last night in a moment of, "I know what I want and I want it now," we went with a familiar place in Jersey Mike's. First, the crew working were very nice and all welcomed us when we walked in and the place was clean, so that's always reassuring. We ordered two cheesesteaks, one classic with provolone and the other chipotle style with pepper jack (b/c she's fancy). I think I expected meat to runeth over from the bread, but that's not what we got. It seemed like a pre-portioned amount of meat per sub, similar to what they do at Subway. They were decent tasting, but for 2 subs and 2 bags of chips it was $20, which seamed a little high to me. Like I said, if I was picking up meat off the wrapper with hands covered in cheesesteaky goodness, it would warrant the cost, but that wasn't that. We eat here after visiting a doctors office, it was clean and those that worked here were attentive. It took long for me to decide what I wanted then for them to make my sub. The menu looks like it shrunk since my last time I had one of there subs. I settled for a Philly cheese steak with onions and mushrooms. It was fresh hot and tasty. My husband had a Italian sub which he felted lacked meat but the bread was fresh next time he'll order some type of hot sub. They had indoor and outdoor seating. So I'm giving them 5 stars for a few reasons. One, we came in 10 mins to close and the three young employees treated us with friendly smiles and small talk and didn't make us feel bad as most places tend to when you come in so close to closing. Two, these sandwiches are huge and so delicious! The big Kahuna is a must try in my opinion and Three, THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE BREAD and it taste GREAT! Finally tried Jersey Mike's and well, it's just another sub place. I've heard good things from people before too. I've heard that it's the closest you'll get to a great sub place up north. If this is what those are like then I know I'm not missing much and that disappoints me. Here's the problem, the food is just bland. My wife and I both got the Angus Roast Beef and Provolone and it looked delicious! Sliced to order and fresh. The bread looked good as well. The toppings bar is limited. Onions, tomatoes, pickles, some kind of pepper condiment, oregano and oil/vinegar. I'm just thinking I ordered the wrong sandwich because it was so darned bland! The positive was definitely the staff. So friendly, so helpful and all so cool. I loved my time in there as it was comfortable and they were genuinely engaged. The store was clean too. Newly opened in the Mandarin South Shopping Center. Very small location with a limited number of tables inside, additional seating on the front sidewalk. Clearly the staff still needs a little work in getting sandwiches prepped. It was a little painful to watch mine being made. Slightly grossed out to see the sandwich maker (with gloves already on) make my sandwich, then grab the wrapper and bag while still wearing those gloves. Then to make matters worse she grabbed a pen to write on the bag. Ugh. On to the next sandwich with no glove change. I told him about my experience & I can tell he was taking notes. Great Customer Service here!!! The day I visited I don't think this is the normal standard that they hold based on my conversation.
