We love Jersey mikes and get the same sandwich every time. We're from Jersey. Like getting coffee at Starbucks or Dunkin, if your coffee isn't made right then you realize it's not right immediately. This particular mikes location is definitely not up to the same level as the New Jersey mikes locations. The gentleman making the sandwich, a giant sub, put 5 slices of provolone, 6 slices of ham and 6 slices of turkey. The stores in nj give twice the meat on the sub that was used here. Very disappointing, same price but not the same sandwich. I would go to subway if I wanted half slices. I would suggest you go elsewhere if you know what to expect from mikes. Service is great and I love the subs! It's a great place to go when you're hungry and want something fresh for lunch or dinner.

I don't care for the rolls or that they cut them all the way through. I would like a better selection of cheeses as well.

The subs were good! We put in an online order and showed up 10 minutes after the ready time in the email. When we got our bag and only 3 of the 5 subs were in it. The lady at the register said something to the guy on the grill and he said he got it. We stood there and after a few more minutes she went over with him said something then came back over and apologized. After 13 minutes total of waiting, we finally got the other two subs. So, the food is good - but show up late for your pre-order or wait to order until you get there. read more

While I had heard about Jersey Mike's I had never been to one as there are only two locations in my somewhat immediate area and by somewhat I mean that each is still a 20 minute drive so I was never in a hurry to do that for a chain sub place. But like most shoobies on vacation, you do what you need to do when you're on the road and the family declares it's time to stop for food at that instant. Finding this place is very easy. If you're travelling south on 158 they're on the right side in a little strip mall with a DD, a Sweet Frog and a few other shops around two miles before you get to Jockey's Ridge. They open at ten and we got there on a weekend maybe a little before Noon. The inside has a small seating area with room for maybe twenty or so people if everyone were packed in. The ordering process is simple but different from say a Subway. With Subway you follow your sandwich down the line from beginning to end. Here you order a specific numbered item then go over what type of extras if any you want on it. After paying you wait a bit then they bring the order out to your table. Overall that part of the process was fairly efficient. Grilled Pastrami Reuben - Chicken Parm - Bacon Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak First negative here was that I wanted to order the meatball and cheese but was told that it would be at least 15-20 minutes for them to, I assume, thaw out and heat another batch of meatballs so that killed this idea. The sandwiches themselves were decent. The bread was still soft yet firmer than Subway and didn't have the staleness that a lot of their locations have where you know the bread was from yesterday. I prefer the bread from Firehouse because it's steamed but everything came out either as per the menu or as per how it was sightly modified. Next negative here. Price. This place isn't cheap. Most of their subs come in two sizes but can be done four different ways. Regular, wrap and tub (where everything is shoved into a plastic to take out container without the bread I assume) is one price then the giant is slightly less than double that price. You're talking over $7 for the regular and that's before any additional sides or over $13 for the giant. At least in my mind that's more in line with what Firehouse charges and is certainly more than Subway although you could argue that this is a better product especially since the gimmick here is to hand cut all meats/cheeses in front of you versus Subway where it's been sitting since? Worth noting is that they do offer some kind of frequent use dork card that would earn I assume free food if you came often enough but again since I don't live close enough to one to make it feasible I didn't ask and the guy who rang me up didn't offer. Mike's certainly was good as a one time stop while on vacation. The food wasn't bad and everything (aside of the lack of meatballs) more or less was as expected. It's a bit expensive for my tastes to make this a regular stop even if a location were more convenient to me but in the future I'll keep an eye out for them. read more

By far, the best place we've eaten at during our Outter Banks vacation, and we've definitely tried eating at a number of local restaurants, and all of them are mediocre, if not worse. This place has fresh food, it's tasty, and the people who work there seem to care about doing a good job. I can't say that about the local restaurants. If you're looking for an edible place to eat in the area, I highly recommend these guys over the local restaurants. Your meal will be a higher quality meal at a fraction of the cost of the restaurants, not to mention edible, which we have yet to find in the area. Keep up the good work, Jersey Mikes! We were here for 3 days and got hoagies 2 of the days and not only were they great but the employees (are employees still called employees with all the movements now?) were the best with great attitudes. I tried Jersey Mike's Subs for the first time here and was very happy with my experience! This restaurant has a great atmosphere and is very clean. Staff members are friendly and work quickly and efficiently. They also invited me to sign up for the rewards program. We tried two subs, and both were super delicious! It is very obvious that the ingredients at Jersey Mike's are fresh and high quality. I would take this over Subway any day. Overall, I had a wonderful experience here and will definitely return next time I'm in the OBX! I'm hoping in the meantime that one of these opens up closer to the Youngstown area so I can visit Jersey Mike's more often. read more

We come here every time we visit Nags Head and even though it's kind of expensive for lunch it's a lot better than subway. They use fresh ingredients and my dad is in love with the Italian sub. I'm here on vacation and my family and I were tired of going out to eat so we saw a familiar store that we don't have many of near where we live. We walked in with a few other parties and there wasn't much of a wait. The employees had a great system of their roles in the sandwich making process and I was very impressed by their quickness, as if they were pros! All in all, I made a yelp account to say that they were awesome and that they genuinely seemed excited and well trained in what they're doing. I am truly disappointed by the service of which I was given. All three of my orders were different from what I had ordered on the website. My daughter likes plain turkey and cheese subs so that is what I ordered, however she received a turkey, lettuce, tomato, and onion sub. She was very upset as we do eat our subs for two days and she does not have one now. I will not go into detail about the other two however they had mistakes as well. First of all there is a new Jersey Mikes in Southern Shores now in the shopping center called The Market Place next to Starbucks. I have been there 2 times and the Chipolte Cheesesteak is wonderful. The staff there is really very friendly and the place is clean enough to eat off the floor. I like that you can place and pay for your order online and just pick it up when you arrive, or you can arrive and place the order and wait for it like normal. I have not tried anything other than the Cheesesteak and might not since they are so darn good. read more

I have to imagine The worst thing to happen to a sub place is to run out of bread. This is our second time here and the second time our order is delayed. We were first told there is no wheat to change to white bread - ok, but not optimal. Now there is no bread at all. You do not anticipate waiting over 1 hour for fast food. We are from Jersey and enjoy Jersey Mikes but this franchise in OBX does not seem prepared for people to order. The people are friendly enough and apologized, but service has to be better. read more

Best sub place in OBX. Not sure why no one else can do this! The 13 Italian is great. The roast beef w/ swiss is good too. The philly cheese steak is old school. Cheese cooked in it. Tell them to add spoonful of crushed red pepper sauce when cooking. Delightful! read more
