Traveling through Nags Head, NC with kids, my youngest--who has probably eaten every kind of Margherita pizza known to mankind--was seriously craving pizza. Village Pizza turned out to be a great choice. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind, and the ambiance was welcoming and relaxed. We ordered a Margherita pizza to go, but couldn't wait and ended up starting it in the car. That's usually a good sign. The crust was almost perfect, with just the right balance of crisp and chew. The tomato sauce tasted fresh, and the mozzarella had that just-made flavor you hope for. The basil, however, didn't add much flavor, which was a small letdown. Wow, highly recommend! My daughter and I got hungry while out and about in Nags Head and went here. We ordered takeout for the whole family. The salads were really good and the dressings were homemade tasting and really good! We ordered a pizza and fries. The woman helping us was SO incredibly nice and gave us a side of ranch without us asking and holy moly the ranch was to die for! We all fought over the last drop. We had the 2-slice/soda deal. We both ordered Cheese. Quickly-came out Pepperoni, which we immediately sent back. Then, quickly came out our cheese slices and all were semi-burnt, and we could barely bite the crust -it was so hard. My husband suffered through, as I did with one of my slices. My wife and I are self-proclaimed pizza snobs. During my military career we lived in multiple places and can count on 2 fingers places we've lived where we've found top-shelf pizza. Having retired and moved back home we feared that our choices would again be limited...until now! We ordered the chicken bacon ranch and white pizza (added mushrooms). They were both incredible. The white pizza had the perfect blend and quantity of cheese with just the right amount of balanced flavour. The CBR, an easy pizza to mess up, was also perfect. The crust on both was simply the most incredible pizza crust I've had. My only regret is that we live 90 minutes away, otherwise this place would easily become our Friday night pizza takeout joint. read more

My fiancé & I eloped yesterday and decided to grab a pizza on the way home. There were people in and out picking up to go orders and one other couple dining in. Every single staff member was beyond friendly and kind. We were presented with a couple of glasses of celebratory drinks, which was a lovely surprise. The other couple offered to take our picture as the sun was setting and shared that they had married here over 30 years ago and as we went to pay the bill, we found they had covered it for us. Pizza - solid. However, the setup and process was very confusing and frustrating. One person working the front of house. Tells us to order on the tablet then they'll bring the food to us. No explanation of how do we get our drinks? What about the wine we ordered? Had to ask (self serve soft drinks, btw). The wine? They didn't have a chilled bottle for the Chardonnay. Why was it on the menu? Very small place and all of the tables were dirty, including the one we sat at after busing the table ourselves. VPNH was on a list of best New York-style pizzas so I gave it a go. Not sure I'd call it NY-style, exactly, but so what, I loved it. The crust ate light, with lots of air pockets and a lovely crunch. My Margherita pie was loaded with tasty sauce, fresh Mozz and basil, and lots of cherry tomatoes. I love cherry tomatoes on pizza - that pop of flavor when you bite into one is like a party in your mouth. I know they're not for everyone and are not what I'd consider a standard topping on a Margh pie so if you're not a fan maybe try the regular cheese pizza. She's had celiac for 20 years so she's familiar with GF pizzas. She said it's top 2 best she's ever had. The place was a total sweat shop, very humid. But to be fair I think everyone's A/C is struggling to keep up right now because of the heat wave. Village Pizza was hard to find as it's hidden next to one of the many tourist trap trinket/t shirt shop monstrosities that plague East Coast beaches. . We had pizza and wings, the clerk seemed familiar with gluten-free protocol but they screwed up something in the kitchen, so my girlfriend felt ill after ordering what was supposed to be a celiacs safe gluten free cauliflower crust pizza. Aside from this I ordered some wings that ended up being pretty good! If you're looking for passable wings I'd rate it, but be careful if you're after a celiacs safe pizza experience. Another year, another vacation - and another Sunday night dinner thanks to village pizza. Still as good as I remember. Crust is crispy and chewy, so much cheese, and the sauce is delicious too! We got the 2 large 1 topping pizza deal (again). House made Italian sausage is delicious. I ordered online, and it was hot and ready when we got there, just as promised. The store is in an obscure location - on the end of a big yellow souvenir store across the highway from food lion - but parking was easy and so was getting in and out. Owner is so friendly. He has plants outside and let me take a cutting of one! We'll probably be back before this trip is over! I want to try the seafood pizza! I'd post a picture of the ooey gooey deliciousness but we ate it before I remembered! :) Update: went back and got the seafood pizza (and a cheese for the kids). Worth every penny. Sadly did not have a good experience at Village pizza. Ordered food on the kiosk and it did not let us know approximately how long it would take. We would have asked but there was no one manning the counter. When pizzas came out they did not call out names. Just through it on the counter. It took an hour and 30 minutes to get our pizza, we did not get our garlic knots because they ran out. We were told the knots would be refunded however, they have not. At least our pizza was hot but the crust needed to be cooked longer. read more

We arrived for pick up at the prescribed time to find quite a long line of people waiting for their food-both dine in and takeout.
