I made it a point to check it out - and I'm very glad I did! This is really a hidden treasure. Going in the door was like walking into a candy store, so many goodies. Fresh bread, pastries, savories and more. I was immediately drawn to the huge beefsteak tomatoes. They looked wonderful and absolutely were, as we couldn't wait to have one when I brought them home. I cannot justify buying hard, force ripened ones from grocery stores. And that was just the beginning! Sweet corn, squash, cukes, green beans and do much more. I was a little pressed for time so only filled one bag but I will be back. A huge variety of fruits, Greek and Arabic specialties, and a large deli area. I did want to try their Spanish soup - next time. And I didn't have time to check out all the coolers and shelves. I spotted some delicious looking cheesecake but had to turn away, we are starting back to WW this week and have not been watching our diet closely.

Furthermore, they added mayo to each which is strange and kind of nasty when the sub already has oil & vinegar. You get potato salad, pasta salad or cole slaw as a side which are apparently "made in house." We got the pasta salad. It was meh. With Jersey Mike's down the street, we'd rather go there and we don't even think Jersey Mike's is really anything to write home about.

First, they now have an Espesso bar with pastries along side their gelato bar....both excellent. But more importantly to me, they have a whole new panini sandwich menu in addition to the usual favorites. I have sampled the Chef Butta, Paisano and the Sabino. All of them are huge. I get two meals out of them. My favorite so far is the Sabino (see menu). It's loaded and served hot with their homemade chicken cutlet, Arugula, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto and fig jam. The others were excellent and huge as well. The Chef Butta was created during a competition and it beat Bobby Flay!! And if that's not enough, they also have a daily hot lunch with three rotating items. You serve yourself and fill a small ($8.99) or large ($14.99) tin with your combination. I could go on and on.....the homemade roast beef they make for their sandwiches, pre-made meatballs, house made mozzarella, beautiful selection of salads and uncooked items like sausage and braciole, frozen entrees to go like lasagna, not to mention a good variety of Italian market goods like olive oil, vinegar, wine, cookies. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself. But beware, this place can, and does, get addictive!

Speaking of someone who's been going to this place since I first came into my neighborhood in the 2000s, it was right down the block from where I live. Overall, I've always had mixed feelings about this place. It was definitely well kept and well decorated with a nice little solarium-like eating area. The eating environment was pretty clean and the staff was approachable for the most part. Food wise? That's...Where I tend to break on the matter. You see, while it was good with sandwiches, everything else was pretty mediocre; a lot of their traditional Greek dishes tend to have little flavor or be a bit watery, and they frequently relied on the microwave to serve it hot which is a huge no-no in the restaurant business. In my personal opinion, where Bread and Butter's strength lies, aside from sandwiches, was international products that it would sell on the side like authentic Turkish delights, pastries that were actually pretty tasty to eat and kept cold, and soups that would always be kept heated and guaranteed to be good. Ontop of that, their pastries were actually really impressive and I'm surprised just how little credit they got for that. I'm going to miss all that very much, and in truth I regret not trying their sandwiches instead. Although Bread and Butter wasn't my favorite place, nor would I consider it gourmet, it had its charm and it was definitely an iconic staple within Tarpon Springs and its community. To see it go is honestly saddening but no good thing lasts forever; That it was there to begin with is what matters the most.

We didn't have any expectations, and the place is a hole in the wall, but the food was good. Their Cuban Sandwich was amazing! Perfect Cuban flavors. It was odd that the pretzels were on a small plate, but that is probably cheaper than single bags of chips. I get it. It was just unconventional. My hubby had their big sandwich and he said it was fresh and delicious and the presentation was nice too. We will certainly come back!.
