Have been here a few times and it's been great. Haven't been in a few years and this last experience wasn't so great. I won't be nit picky about our experience, everything was "fine". The one thing that really got to me was that there was a customizable sandwich section, so I get a roast beef sandwich. Every topping is extra money, even the basics... lettuce, tomato, mayo. Lastly get this, they wouldn't add pickles to my sandwich... the waitress said I could pay for a couple of spears on the side, but they won't add pickle chips to any sandwich... at a place advertised as a sandwich place... named "Lucky dill deli"... it felt pretty ironic and kinda bizarre! This was literally the first place we stopped into for lunch while waiting for our hotel to be ready. I thought the inside decor was really cool and it was basically set up like a New York City deli. Even in the parking lot it had Knicks, jets and Giants parking lot signs. Stopped in on a Wednesday around 3 PM and wasn't very busy. TVs everywhere and looks like a good place to watch a sporting event, but I did notice they close at 9 PM. Not sure if those hours are still correct. My lunch was fantastic and I started out with a bowl of matzoh ball soup for eight dollars and then I highly recommend this huge deli sub called the Cranston Kevin. Huge sandwich for $20 and worth it and the potato salad is pretty good as well. I added a picture of the sandwich which is almost like a French dip, but it's got turkey on it as well. Our server was Lauren and she even said it's her favorite sandwich on the menu. On the other side of the restaurant, they have a huge bakery as well, but didn't grab anything but did some window shopping of all the great stuff they had in the bakery. Avoid at All Costs: A Complete Fall from Grace The Lucky Dill is officially dead. What used to be a local staple has cratered into a health hazard, and my recent visit was a total disaster from start to finish. I ordered the Combo Reuben, and what arrived was an absolute insult to delis everywhere: dry, leather-like meat stuffed between two slices of completely burnt, ruined rye. To make matters worse, I bit directly into wax paper buried inside my sandwich. When I brought this severe safety issue to the staff, the kitchen offered zero accountability, zero apologies, and a completely clueless "we have no idea where that came from" response. Contaminating customers' food with foreign material and brushing it off is beyond negligent. To top off the miserable experience, they've quietly cut their bread service, and the restaurant was a ghost town at peak Sunday dinner time, which makes total sense now. The plummeting quality, complete lack of kitchen basic hygiene/standards, and total indifference from management tell you everything you need to know. They are usually quite good but today they were under cooked and the breading was falling off. We've tried all of the different sides that can come with a meal: coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni salad. All of them are sub-par. Things have changed. Haven't been in a couple of years, but always remembered the stacked pastrami sandwich on rye. Ordered today and it was terrible. Instead of a stack of juicy sliced hot pastrami, I was served a shaved, cold pastrami sandwich. Very disappointing. I was there around 11:45, left around 12:30. In the past, the bar and restaurant had a healthy lunch crowd. Not today, place was empty when I left. The way to do it is to go in the bakery and look at all of the delicious options that you can take home after your meal because you will be too full to have dessert in the restaurant! Then eat in the restaurant and circle back into the bakery to order goodies to take home. Within several hours of my first time eating there I experienced food poisoning. Ate at the bar, it was sticky and gross. They need to do a major deep clean of that place and wipe down the menus. There was a sign outside that had a Bogo sandwich for Wednesday, but when we asked about it, we were told it only began at 5 o'clock and that was noted online however we were in the restaurant and nowhere on the menu on the table. After many years I gave brunch at Lucky Dill another try and today was decent. The house made corned beef hash was full of flavor (although a little greasy) and the biscuits and gravy were savory. The hash browns were a tad underwhelming but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. Their menu is MUCH smaller these days which is nice but also missing a little bit of variety. Service was a bit unique. No one greeted us when we walked in, to the point we wondered if they were actually open on serving customers. After a few minutes we were taken to a take by a very friendly server. We weren't given plates to share a starter so luckily my brunch partner didn't mind eating from the same plate. Food was so salty that I took one home for the dog. The service was by far the worst I have ever had. Took forever to order. Our waitress was covering the bar. Prices are dramatically higher, less food no rolls with dinner, our server said that management said they were too expensive and didn't want to lower the quality of the food. That's a fail. I went to church on a Sunday morning church let out about 10:30 AM and I headed north to the Lucky dill deli. What a great trip. It was not bad traffic beautiful weather day. I arrived at 10:45 AM was immediately seated at a nice high top and the bartender Steve was taken care of me. I was originally there for a brisket sandwich but they weren't serving lunch until 11 AM. Steve said they aren't serving breakfast gave me the menu. I ordered corned beef hash, two eggs over easy a generous portion of hashbrowns and wheat toast. It was awesome and only $10 after I enjoyed my meal. I started walking out the door, but I was drawn in to the dessert room purchased a piece of coconut cloud cake, and the rest is history you have to go. Based on our Thanksgiving dinner last year, we recommended Lucky Dill to a number of friends. BIG MISTAKE! What we experienced today was like eating at a completely different restaurant. The price was raised which we did not mind, however, unlike last year, we had no problem finding a parking spot and when we arrived, the restaurant was not even half full. This should have been our sign to turn around and go home. The turkey was tasteless and dry, unlike the sweet potatoes which were tasteless and runny. Expected the $20 sandwiches to be packed a bit higher honestly. Normally at all the ny delis I go to, the sandwiches are much more massive especially with double decker meats. I ordered a king in New York which had both pastrami and corned beef for $20. It did come with a free slice of cheesecake, which they sliced in half which was nice. It said dinner rolls come before the meal but they didn't come. The sandwich came out almost instantly. I should've added Swiss cheese and Cole slaw to make it how I like my sandwich. It came with a pickle. Bottom side of the sandwich was soggy. My bf was not happy with the sandwich and got in a cranky mood because of it and had to step outside but it tasted fine to me. I still gobbled it up quickly. The bakery is a sight on its own. There's like 3 different bakery cases full of cheesecakes and desserts. And they are the tallest slices of cake I think I've seen in my life. We orders potato latkes which were pretty good but it had like a tablespoon of applesauce. Not homemade. So I guess this place is great when craving a pastrami / corned beef / Reuben / ny style sandwich but ours just didn't come out like the picture and raving reviews I had read (I read they had a change in management in 2023). So awesome for the free cheesecake - that was delicious. Potato salad just okay. Cole slaw portion was a bit small for the side. The side choices were chips, cole slaw, pasta salad or potato salad. Chips were not homemade. I think if I hadn't had such great ny style sandwiches before, I would've rated this place higher. But I just wanted the people who know what a ny sandwich tastes like to know not to expect that here. But 5 stars for the bakery. Also I saw unlimited mimosas and bloody Mary's. Everything was good, but I would've preferred pita chips rather than the soft pita triangles with the dip and if the wings were tossed in the sauce instead of just getting a small side for dipping. Can't complain about the caprese salad, as that is hard to mess up. The burrata ball was delicious, the tomatoes were beefy and the balsamic drizzle was delicious. Service - we had a server in training helping the main server and they both did well. Ambiance - the place is really cool as it has so much nyc decor inside like subway signs and sports memorabilia. They also have an amazing Brooklyn bakery with tons of cakes, cookies and pastries. Everything looked so amazing!! As a longtime fan of Lucky Dill going back to when they were on Alt19 just south of downtown Tarpon Springs, the results of the new ownership since end of 2023 is very sad to report. Menu was cut by 2/3rds and corned beef is now "hot" off a griddle vs the perfect way to prepare which is steamed, the traditional way they use to do it. Also gone was the family dinner option priced per person with a full NY deli spread. Use to bring the extended family in for "family diner NY deli -style" - no more! Gone! Along with the rest of the authentic NY experience. What a pity! Latkes were Ok. beefeater sandwich came with an au jus dip which was way too salty to dip into!
