    Pathetic sandwich

Tried the newly opened Jm on state rd and seriously disappointed. The sandwich looks nothing like they advertised. Family tried the cheesesteak wrap it was cold, dry and just bad. I had the roast beef and looking for the meat.Won't be returning with my $

personally, despite being vegetarian I am a big hoagie girl. and dare I say there is a right and wrong way to make a hoagie. have no fear: jersey mikes does it the right way. for a vegetarian, some hoagie establishments think to compensate the lack of meat with cheese. my biggest pet peeve . but jersey mikes knows what to do. I order a cheese hoagie with lettuce onions pickles salt pepper oregano oil and vinegar (chips on the side). with the jersey mikes hoagie everything is balanced. I will not find a inch thick layer of cheese with just a few lettuce shreds. it's even, consistent, fresh. what more can you ask for. I haven't been in store, but generally jersey mikes has a few tables and it's quite quick with an assembly line style thing going on. they also have vickie's chips which is a win in my book.

We are always on the lookout for a quality sandwich place near our home. This would have been really convenient, and we'd have been overjoyed to like this place. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed. We got regular size hoagies that look nothing like the photo they show on their website. They said one sandwich would "feed 2 people" for almost $10 with tax. What 2 people do you know who will eat 3.5" of sandwich for a meal and be satisfied? Not two grown-adult non-anorexic Philadelphians. Was this a mistake by a new employee or something? This place is new, and I try to pad reviews for newer places even when I don't dig them, but in this case, I could not finish eating my meal, so I can't ignore that. Just under $19 for two 7" hoagies that were Wawa quality, from roll, to meats, to mayo. In fairness, I am not a chain hoagie person. If you like places like Primo's, Subway or Wawa, then by all means, help yourself to Jersey Mike's. But if you are more of a mom-n-pop authentic Philly sandwich type of person, who has come to know the quality meats, toppings and rolls that our area has to offer, then I don't think the quality at this place will stand up to what you're used to. We had a turkey hoagie and an Italian, both were very low-quality meats. Also, the veggies were tasteless and the roll was terrible. It was definitely the kind of roll you'd get at Subway, not at all something that tasted fresh from a Philly bakery. My turkey was the same rubbery-looking stuff they give you at Wawa. I could not finish. Wasted half the sandwich, which was only 7 measly inches to begin with. The Italian was no better. Not much flavor, all lower-quality ingredients. Thinly-packed, with not much in it at all. Again, very disappointing. They put a lot of hype into their marketing and advertising, and have fancy logo-printed wax paper and bags. The bag and wax paper presentation was like Burger King. Please, save the money on the logos and put it into better quality ingredients. To us, you just branded something we will never eat again, and couldn't finish. Wasted money. Had to go out again to get takeout elsewhere just to finish dinner. Sorry Jersey Mike's, we heard great things about you on Philly.com and thought you'd be different from Primo's. I guess a franchise, is a franchise, is a franchise. It's just not for us.

    Hair in my sandwich

I was starving so I just bit right into my sandwich and to my disgust, I found a long strand of hair in my mouth. Disgusting. Whatever happened to hairnets? Almost choked on it too.

The location is run very poorly. They have no organization and their times are way off. They forget the extras and the food is just ok. Very frustrating. Avoid and go somewhere else.

Recently, I paid a call at their newest outpost on Philly's Main Line. Located in the Strafford Shopping Center just a few steps from the Amish Farmers' Market, the Wayne store opened its doors in 2021. As a restaurant reviewer and food & wine writer, my chief focus, of course, was upon the charming little Alimentari Bar/Café. Here, smack dab in the middle of all that foodie hustle and bustle, you can experience a moment of respite and order a creative cocktail to accompany your luncheon or as an afternoon pick-me-up. A Negroni or Boulvardier (Bluecoat Gin/Redemption Bourbon, respectively, Campari, Iris Dorado Vermouth) or, perhaps, a Vesper (Bluecoat Gin, Stateside Vodka, Lillet Blanc), also known as the Vesper Martini. Erroneously thought to have been invented by author Ian Fleming for his iconic British secret agent, James Bond, the cocktail first appeared in Fleming's Casino Royale, which was published in 1953, and named for the fictional double agent and Bond love-interest Vesper Lynd. The restaurant also offers a nice selection of wines by the glass/bottle, as well as several interesting brews. The Italian comfort food headlines "Di Bruno Bros. products at every turn," with categories such as Formaggi & Salumi, Soup & Salads, Sandwiches, Pizza Alla Romana, Plates, Alimentari Focaccia, and Dolci. Cheese is obviously big here, so the Monger's Greatest Hits - featuring Fromage d'Affinois, Alex, Pantaleo, black lava cashews, fig & acacia jam, honeycomb, house-made focaccia, seasonal fruit, and crostini - would definitely be a way to go. My dining partner chose a slightly different route with her House of Grilled Cheese sandwich (pictured), which featured Reading Raclette, Taleggio, butter brioche and also a bowl of incredibly delicious San Marzano tomato soup. Another sandwich you might consider - highly recommended by a friend - is the Balsamic Chicken. Sequestered between two slices of toasted ciabatta, the moist marinated breast is aided and abetted by Caciocavallo cheese, roasted red peppers, arugula, basil, slathered with roasted garlic aioli, and accompanied by house-made potato chips. The Soup & Salad category included the aforementioned tomato soup and items such as Summer Panzanella, Di Bruno Bros. Caesar, and an interesting combo of Burrata & Brussels Sprouts set on a pillow of toasted rustic bread flooded with a Medjool date sauce. Interesting... and the sprouts were done to a turn, but the sauce was very, very (almost offputtingly) sweet. The Plates definitely hold some solid possibilities: House-Made Meatballs, for instance, or Roasted Branzino. But the two pasta dishes are particularly noteworthy... The Cacio E Pepe is basically spaghetti simply seasoned with cheese & pepper. In this case, the cheeses are pecorino Romano and parmigiano Reggiano. But the pepper is quite special. Tellicherry peppercorns are considered a highly prized variety of black pepper due to their complex flavors, which include woodsy and citrus notes. And for those who prefer their pasta with a tad more zip, the Spicy Sausage Rigatoni (pictured) - fennel sausage swimming in a savory tomato ragù, sprinkled with parmigiano Reggiano, and topped with rich & creamy Stracciarella cheese - is equally satisfying. Dolci, "sweets," are somewhat limited, but still worth considering... The Seasonal Gelato & Sorbetto are locally sourced from the Fiore Restaurant. For purists, the Affogato may be just the ticket. Traditionally known as Affogato al Caffè, this coffee-based dessert usually takes the form of a scoop of plain milk-flavored or vanilla gelato or ice cream "drowned" with a shot of hot espresso. The third option is the Chocolate Budino, an Italian pudding made from a milk & egg custard thickened with cornstarch. While similar to American puddings and custards, Budino has a richer, eggier texture, somewhat akin to Mexican flan... On the other hand, their pastry department (pictured) is just a few steps away. If nothing quite appeals, you can always make a quick stop and savor your dessert at home. By the way, Di Bruno Bros. also serves Saturday and Sunday brunch from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
