I don't eat much meat but I know a great cheese steak. Well you will not get one a PrimoHoagies in Wayne, PA. I am not too fussy, just like some onions and sweet peppers on it. I was taking out. The menu on the wall stated a medium was 7.95. When it was rung at the register it was 10.95 plus tax. Well meat has gone up in price so the wall menu was no doubt not updated. But on opening it at home all I could think of was the great Clara Peller, who shouted those famous words "Where is the beef '' Believe me she would have gone nuts. When you place your order and pay, there is an almost mandatory tip option on the screen of 18% and up. I'm wondering if the cashier doesn't watch you enter a good tip, is the meal is going to be mediocre? Ordered steak sandwich with fried onions: Sesame roll excellent, medium amount of meat, they forgot the fried onions. Also ordered Italian hoagie: Mushy ingredients and roll hard/stale. The staff was pleasant, the place looked clean and inviting, but the meal was disappointing. I'll tip 25% for exceptional service but this was basic takeout, nothing extra. Very annoying. We normally order from the Paoli location because it is closer and bigger. But Paoli had a 90 minute wait for take out and Wayne only had a 30 minute wait. We also ordered 3 hours before an Eagles playoff game. I've always enjoyed the Diablo sandwiches over the years from their various locations. This chicken Diablo did not disappoint. Primo Hoagies has been a staple family part food since I can remember. Anytime my family and cousins have an impromptu get together, it's always Primo Hoagies who we call to fill our stomachs. Our favorites range from the Italian, Turkey Schwartzie, Chicken Diablo, Bada Bing, and my personal favorite Whacked Chicken. You literally cannot go wrong with any of their numerous options, and they have a hoagie for everyone out there. Aside from family parties, Primo Hoagies has been my lunch break routine when working in Wayne. They have tables and seats, with a small bar area in front of a TV. Stopped in with some friends for lunch after church. Sandwiches were delicious as always, but the guy taking my orders that day seemed off. He asked me to repeat pretty much everything I said while ordering, and when my sandwich came, I realized that he had put in my order wrong! I had ordered a roast beef diablo, but he sent a regular roast beef sandwich. It wasn't too big of a deal, because they just had to put some more seasoning on it, but it cost more than the diablo would have. read more

This place is just mediocre. I ordered a small italian hoagie (same size as wawa shorti) for over $9. Lettuce and everything else was soggy a few hours after refrigerating. Catered hoagie trays for a corporate lunch - and it was fine. Ham, turkey and roastbeef on seeded rolls, lettuce, tomatoes and cheap white American cheese. (Mayo pre-spread on the turkey hoagie-piece I ate.) Served with may small bags of Herr's chips. No issues. read more

The hoagies are very fresh and always better than Wawa. I do not understand the business model! The Primo's in Wayne is similar to the newer onw in Newtown Square. Usually have 6 or 7 staff making hoagies and trays but the lines are painfully slow. Service was horrendous during the holidays. I was also disappointed in the Newtown Square shop by the 2 week old salads still for sale in the case as you walk in. I get that they don't want to pay for decent help but the teenagers are clueless and I see a big turnover. read more

Customer service nightmare. The owner seems proud of creating conflict. Totally screwed up an order and told us to return but when we did they had amnesia about it ever happening. I told Tim Cook he could keep the few dollars discount since he obviously needed it more than I did. Aggressively rude and stupid is no way to run a bussiness. Pretty good value for the price. The chicken badabing is delicious. Usually ready pretty quickly, which is nice. I also love their dirt pudding. Not as good as Tredici's or John's village market but they are open sundays, which is a big plus in my book. Overall I recommend for a quick, good sandwich. read more

Ok, so my love affair with Primo's is still going strong; however, I think we had our first lover's quarrel on Thursday. I decided since it's been raining for a year and a half that I was in the mood for a hot sandwich at lunch to go along with the "I want to stay in my bed all day with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate since the weather has been miserable" theme. So I pulled up good ol' Primo's Hoagies online, and decided that the Chicken Parmgiana hoagie would be the way to go. Nice, warm chicken cutlets topped with melted mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce, yum! So I placed my order for pick-up (telephone-answering employee was not so nice this time, is he depressed because of the weather, too?!) So I wrapped myself up in every rain-proof item of clothing that I own yet again, and trundled out down Lancaster Avenue to fetch my hoagie. It tasted good enough going down, but for some reason I just started to feel sick while eating it. It was one of those times when you know half-way through doing something that it was a bad idea, but you just keep going anyway because you're stubborn. I just didn't feel right for the next 24-hours. I don't know if it was the hoagie, and I wasn't sick per se, I just felt like I had eaten a boulder and wasn't hungry until the next morning. Oh well, I think I'm going to stick with their Mild Italian hoagie and our relationship will keep going strong. I guess I'm just not cut out for a hot lunch. read more

This review is not about the food... A sandwich is a sandwich... This is a chain like McDonalds ... There is a Wawa, Subway and about 20 good hoagie shops from Radnor to Paoli on Lancaster Avenue ... that can make a decent Hoagie ... Real hoagies, like in Philadelphia are made with Italian rolls ... Amoroso's ... The only thing that distinguishes one store from another is Customer Service ... I've been to this store about 5 times in 20 years ... 3 times for relatives... My issue started with a ridiculous coupon and a Cultural difference ... The community that I live in near this Primos is diverse ... Asian, Indian, Jewish, Italians, French, Greek, Africans, African Americans and White ... 99% of the time there are pleasant dining experiences in this area... I ordered a Vegetarian hoagie and a turkey hoagie ... 2 of my 40 + Primos coupons entitled me to save $7.00 on this order... I called and asked if I could take a photo of the coupons because my husband would be picking up the order and I was not in the area ... I was told "Yes" ... When my husband went to pick up the order he was told by someone, he had to "go home" to get the coupons ...You can see the level of intellect here... Over $7.00 ... I would have paid the extra money and wrote a review , like I'm doing ... These minimum wage thinkers attempted to tell my husband to "go home and get the coupons" ... I decided to drive back to this chain hoagie place myself, since the sandwich was for someone else... I canceled the vegetarian hoagie and paid $23 for a turkey hoagie after a $5 coupon discount... I asked to see the owner who I had spoke to on the phone ... the new employee, Steve who made the error, said he left ...Then out of nowhere a guy who looked like one of the Duck Dynasty cast ... beard, Baseball cap, yells at me like he must talk to his mother... And Said, "He was sick of hearing about this" ... I was shocked ... no one who was normal , on this corridor or street has ever talked like this... to me ... I told this unstable man, he was racist ... He then Shouted back and came towards me like he was going to put his hands on me, yelling that 'HE WAS A RACIST" ... He tried to intimidate me ... He threatened me but I didn't move ... I said you're saying You are a Racist and you work with this Man of Color... He replied "Yes"... He said he'd call the Cops. I wanted the Cops to come ... but he never called ... I taped the incident and it will be posted on Social media... I have a nephew playing basketball at Cabrini, one at Villanova and another playing Football at Temple ... I will make sure to tell them and for them to tell their friends and colleagues to never patronize this Primos ... Ever... And I will contact the NAACP to put this business on their list ... Do Not Go to This Primos ... This Bearded man with dark hair, Baseball cap, is a Declared and Admitted Racist ... And he may put something in your food ... I threw the turkey hoagie in the trash and went to another store and purchased a hoagie that I watched them make... This is one of our favorite hoagie places in the area. I know some people dont like this but I like how they spice up the hoagie which I think adds an extra bit of flavor and makes it delicious. I also like how they use shredded lettuce. I know that's not a big deal but I find it so hard to find places that offer it. So I like the extra effort there. My pet peeve though is that the bread is sometimes a bit too soggy for my taste buds. My friends don't find that to be an issue so it must just be me. It's crispy though and it has the right amount of texture if it's not soggy which makes it perfect for me. Overall, great hoagie!! read more

Waited 20 minutes for a sandwich and after asking what the hold up was, instead of getting a simple apology, I got a tutorial from Adam DeVine's bitter half-brother on how long a hot sandwich takes to make. 8 minutes. Primo hoagies in Wayne Pa has a great efficient staff who makes a really good Schwartze. I ordered a hoagie tray with mixed Schwartze's roast beef and/or turkey with coleslaw and Russian dressing for a concert at the Mann music center. My friends who had not had Schwartzs before were hooked. Primo made a great combination for an innovative hoagie treat. We also ordered sharp Italian hoagies which was also delicious. It is a chain, but a local one, so don't feel guilty about enjoying the food. You aren't lining the pockets of some megacorp. The rolls, the meat, etc - all quite good. The menu is varied. I frequent one near my house, and rate it higher than this offering. Frankly, there are better places for better money all within a 2 minute drive, and they are even more "local". So, three stars for cleanliness, very strong sandwiches, and dissinterested service... all because I will still go there periodically for their meatball hoagies. They put on pepperchinies here, very salty, would have passed on these if I knew. Bun comes with sesame seeds and is a little harder than your typical hoagie bun. I visited this Primos location several times when in the area and overall, it is a quality establishment, albeit with one past issue in 2010 and one more recently in Q1 2016. I generally order the Buffalo Cutlet (Primo size if it's a precursory dinner and Whole size if it's a primary dinner), and the sandwiches were always on the tastier side of my palate spectrum. I felt that the sauce wasn't too spicy and didn't make me sweat that much. The blue cheese crumbles that were provided in the sandwich were tasty and I enjoyed the flavor they added to the mildly spicy buffalo sauce. The bread was of a good quality as well, I like how the sesame seeds give enough traction to hold your sandwich securely, which can be useful if eating it on the go. I also ordered the macaroni salad as a side along with my Buffalo Cutlet sandwich to allow me to soothe my tastebuds when eating something with a substantial amount of spice. The macaroni salad was quite fresh and allowed me to get over an unfortunate incident at this Primos several years ago (in next paragraph). In 2010, I once got the macaroni salad and ate about 1/3 of it, to discover that it had mold in it. I thought that it was a vegetable chunk because it was green. But it was mold. That past irresponsibility warrants a full star reduction in the review. I will say that it was a long time ago, and likely due to new management that has more of a focus on keeping the restaurant up to sanitation code, I have not had that issue since. Also, recently, I went to this location with a couple of co-workers, and they messed their orders up. They gave them both an Italian Diablo instead of a Turkey Diablo. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't mention it here to those considering a visit. Overall, I give this Primos a 4 out of 5 due to the higher quality food they provide. I think besides the aforementioned issues described, they do a good job and I recommend it to anyone looking for a lot of great menu variety without the compromise of food quality. read more

Screwed up a roast beef and Swiss hoagie order. Asked for SEEDLESS yes, SEEDLESS roll with RB, Swiss, Lt. Mayo, lettuce, oil and sweet peppers. With an order of Cole slaw. Go to pick up order - "grumpy" the cashier rings up my liter of Diet Pepsi, big bag of chips ( I had to ask for the slaw a second time) and hoagie. I handed him the card to pay he rings it up gives me the card and starts to ring up the next dude. He's I'like, dude I'm done wit you 'bro. So there I am putting all the things I just purchased as a CUSTOMER in a plastic bag. Get home and what do I have? You guessed it a Roll WITH SEEDS and NO Swiss cheese. No cheese at all. Typically, I'm not so much a fan of "hoagies." However - Primo's is the lone exception.I've been to a few events now that have been catered by Primo's and I've left satisfied every time. Primo's is a solid regional hoagie chain. I tend to stick with cold subs at Primo's but they have a huge menu of hot sandwiches as well. Its definitely better than any national chain, and this location is better than some of the others I've visited in the past. read more

Came in here on a whim for lunch while in town for business in the area, and wow what a great sandwich. I had the primo italian and it was plenty for one person with an average appetite. The bread has just the right texture of soft and hard. Shredded lettuce just the right way (think paper shredder), tomato, onion, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar, mustard and mayo. It's definitely a place I would come back to if ever back in the area. read more
