I normally don't review individual, random locations of fast food / chain restaurants, but just had to give a shout out to the staff here for this Jersey Mike's Subs location. Our family frequents chain restaurants quite often and Jersey Mike's Subs is no different. However, we typically don't dine in at Jersey Mike's Subs, but we did on one recent occasion and the staff here was FANTASTIC, specifically 2 of the women working here. I believe they were of a Spanish ethnicity (don't want to get it wrong by specifying), but they were as kind as can be when we dined in. We actually placed our order for pickup, then grabbed a table inside to chow down, but they gave us the option of choosing a soft drink or water for our kids' meals. Also, I observed their focus and concentration when creating customers' orders and they were so disciplined in the way they worked and conversed with customers. It was a sight to behold for a fast food restaurant because, unfortunately, I've had my fair share of unpleasant employees at other fast food spots. Then, during our meal, one of the employees walked over just to thank us for our business, which was completely unexpected, so KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS to the hard working employees here - specifically those 2 wonderful ladies. What a disappointment. We were in the process of ordering 8 sandwiches and for the 9th one I asked if they could toast the gluten free bread since it is crumbles very easily if it is not toasted. Because I was getting a BLT they would not throw it on the empty griddle that was already on. They explained "they can only toast bread for hot sandwiches". I would understand if they didn't toast at all and it was against policy but it is not. They already toast bread so why not do that. For a sandwich with add-ons that would cost $25+ it is crazy to think that toasting it is an outrageous ask. For reference the griddle was empty because we were the only ones in the store that ordered a hot sub and no there was not a huge line or a lot of online orders. Also the price of a hot sub and a BLT were the same price when ordering a giant sub. Happened on 1/24 at 2pm. Went to WingStop let me tell you they had great service, quick, and very respectful. I keep trying this store hoping it will improve to the way it was years ago, but sadly no. The service is Soooo Sloooooowwwww. If the girl helping me went any slower, I would have been able to actually watch paint fully dry. The other woman cutting the meats and cheeses didn't speak very good English and couldn't understand my order. I wanted a reg #13 and reg veggie but she made two veggies. And Mikes needs to improve the veggie experience for vegetarians (my wife). The cheese is not sliced on a separate slicer than the meat, and handled with same gloves as meat was. Also same knife used to slice sandwich as meat sandwich. Just need to be more conscious of those things. The double meat was actually a single portion at most other sandwich shops but I have to order double to even get enough meat on the sandwich now rather than the first few years when they opened. It's a shame they have to change a good thing to try and save a few bucks. Maybe they will read this and go back to fast, friendly customer service and real value for your dollar. Jersey Mikes is a company that prides themselves on donations and helping communities according to their website and I am terribly disappointed in the company because they did not live up to their own standard. I work at a local high school and asked weeks ahead of time if they could donate to an evening event. The manager was very sweet and said she would pass my email along to her regional manager. I followed up a week later stating I never heard back and she said her regional manager approved of it and that I would be hearing from the marketing side of things to confirm the details in just a few days. Needless to say I never heard back from them. I reached back out to the store manager and no response when I stated I needed to know if they could not fulfill the donation, so that I could plan on other options for food and I was ghosted. I would have greatly appreciated if I was contacted instead of strung along so that we could have had time to reach out to another local business and offer food to our lower income families at our event. read more

I had THE strangest customer service experience here yesterday. I ordered for pick up. Got there a few minutes earlier than my pickup time. That was fine. I expected to wait. There were three people working in the restaurant when I got there. One was making up some cheesesteak sandwiches one was straightening up and the other was working on the pick up orders was the fourth one hanging on the board to be done of the pick ups. I could probably complain about how slow the girl doing the sandwiches for the pick ups was. Painfully slow. I waited literally for eight minutes while she made two sandwiches. It was hard to watch. But that wasn't even the issue. I could even complain about when the girls stopped making the cheesecakes and was done. She didn't start doing the overflow on the pickups. She just started mosey along. I'm not really sure what she was doing. But now my order is hanging second in line while the girl finishes the first two sandwiches. Now a woman walks in the store and the man says what can I get you? And she gives him her order any begins to go for the bread. At that point I speak up and I say excuse me I've been waiting here for almost 10 minutes. I called in my order 10 minutes ago. It's hanging on the wall with one order still in front of it and you're going to do a walk in person before you finish up my order that I'm waiting for. And he looks at me and says well she's working on the orders. And I said to him well that's not how it should work that I have to wait online with all the calling people but if I just walked in the door, I would get faster service. I've been standing here. I placed my order literally 20 minutes ago and you're telling me I have to wait for her to finish those two and to do yet another before she starts mine? so he says OK what's your order and he takes it and asks the other lady what hers is cut both pieces of bread and starts to slice cold cuts. Starts slicing the ones for her sandwich and I said to him so you're still making her sandwich before you do mine and he says no I'm gonna do them at the same time, but I cut the cheese first so you don't cut the cheese after the meat. Now mind you, they're cutting the same cheese and meat on the same slicer they don't have a dedicated cheese slicer. And I don't have cheese on my sandwich. So he put the cheese on her sandwich. Then he starts doing her ham and salami. I have roast beef. She does not, finally put the roast beef on my sandwich. Then he slides both sandwiches over to the lettuce and topping station and starts doing them. Bottom line this is the most ridiculous system ever I don't understand how they don't do the sandwiches in the order in which they are received, I do understand a person being dedicated to the orders that come in, but when everyone else is free in the store and the only thing that exists are the pick up orders perhaps we should finish them or perhaps we should work on them if one of the people is standing there in the store waiting for their order. That's really my issue. I wouldn't care if someone was in the store and the other girl was working on the backlog of the orders from the app. But when you see me standing there for 10 minutes and you take a lady who just walks in and don't say to me what are you waiting for? That is terrible horrendous outrageous customer service. And then when I bring it to your attention, the fact that you don't just go ahead and bust out my sandwich, but you start making two at the same time when they're not the same is ridiculous. We both had the same thing ham and cheese. It makes sense. Cut the cheese put it both cut the ham put it on both. There was nothing in common about my sandwich and her sandwich. Nothing I'm horrified about what happened here yesterday. It should not take almost 30 minutes from the time I call in to walk out of the store with my sandwich ever. read more

After getting some coupons in the mail for some free food i had to stop in and check this new spot out this weekend. I could not believe how many people were here buying sandwiches, there had to be 20 people on line the entire time i was here. The line moved fast, they knew how to hustle and had about 10 people working behind the counter which was nice. I got a regular Italian, a meatball and cheese, and one of their famous Philly Cheese steaks. I personally ate the cheese steak and i destroyed it in about 2 minutes and licked the wrapper clean... must i say more? The other sandwiches which were eaten by my parents they said they were really good. What distinguishes this place from Subway, Blimpie or Pot Belly? well the ingredients look fresh and taste fresh and they slice the cold cuts right in front of you which i prefer, they also have a more extensive menu than those places.... other then that, it says "Jersey" in the name and we live here and that's cool? i don't know. Its a sandwich shop, nothing life changing but i would definitely suggest this place over any brand name food chain that serves mediocre food and had a pedophile as their spokes person. read more

Several months ago, I placed an order for delivery through a 3rd party delivery app, 2 out of 3 sandwiches arrived ok. The 3rd had asked for extra meat, but it looked like they shorted us on even the usual amount. I mean, in what world is 3 slices of roast beef ever EXTRA??? It was delivery, so ok, let it slide. A couple times since then, we placed an order online and then went in to pick it up ourselves. Sometimes we get all the toppings requested, sometimes we don't - it's sort of like sandwich roulette. Disappointing to not get the sandwich exactly as we ask, but not critical. So, last night, I had a bit of a rough day, did not feel like cooking, and was craving an Italian sandwich. We figure we'll give delivery another shot with Jersey Mike's, Rochelle Park. We order 3 sandwiches, and 2 out of 3 are ok. My Italian was an abomination! No self-respecting person from NJ would ever put bacon, mayo, and HONEY MUSTARD on an Italian hoagie!! That is grounds for expulsion and banning from NJ and the food industry!! At this point, we've given them plenty of opportunities to get a simple sandwich order right. I called up the store and asked to speak to the manager. I didn't raise my voice; I just expressed my disappointment that an order with very little customization was so very wrong. Let's be honest - they really don't offer a wide selection of toppings to choose from to even make a difficult sandwich order. It's a pretty basic, straightforward menu. At first the manager started to question whether the order was wrong. I mean, I know what I ordered, I have the order confirmation on my phone, I know what I like, and I know what I'm looking at in front of me. They do not all match. He then started to say he thought he made the sandwich and questioned what the toppings were I ordered. When I listed what I had ordered (GF bread, oil/vinegar, oregano, banana peppers, pickles, and the rest of the usual), and then reported what I received (bacon, mayo, honey mustard, missing pickles, missing banana peppers, and no oregano in sight), suddenly he was in the middle of a rush, took my number and said he'd call me back in a minute. Did I believe he would call me back in a minute as he said? No. Did I believe he would provide customer service and call me back at some point? Yes. We are now at 19 hours and counting... I also looked up the phone number for the corporate office and made a call this morning. I just wanted to let them know this location is negatively affecting their brand and they have lost a customer. Would you believe I had to find my way through a phone bank to be dumped into a general voicemail box. I left a message with some basic information and hoped to get a return call. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one, either. Will I be ordering from them again? Absolutely not. $16.74 for a regular size sandwich made with GF bread? The regular size GF was the same size as the shorty!! You charge extra for the GF bread and then provide a smaller size sandwich?? With a nice, new, big, Wawa across the street from this location, 7-11 everywhere you look, all kinds of grocery stores and markets that sell premade or made to order sandwiches around, and a legit deli on just about every corner in NJ, I have plenty of other sandwich options when I need my fix; Jersey Mike's is no longer on the menu. read more

Great portions, freshly sliced coldcuts (like Blimpies!) and spotlessly clean environment (unlike Blimpies' - at least the locations near me). I was on a business trip to KC last year and the gentleman sitting next to me on the plane was a regional director for Jersey Mike's overseeing the opening of two Kansas City locations. Back of his business card was a voucher for a free sub! Smart! Amazing - from humble Point Pleasant NJ to now over 1200 franchises! Now, that's a success story! And I can appreciate why -- the staff is great, enthusiastic, helpful in explaining all the selections and the quality of the product is excellent. Had the #13 Italian and the #17 Cheesesteak. She was making a few sandwiches and when she got to me he stole her top piece of the bread and when she said where did my bread go he complained that she should make one sandwich at a time which she was trying to do. I love jersey mike's. It's pretty much my number one place to go for a sandwich. The location was very clean and there's plenty of parking in the front lot. I always order a giant #13 (Italian sub). Everything turned out great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the staff was not very attentive when I first walked in. I watched a group of 5-6 employees converse amongst themselves with customers waiting to be helped. One of them was sweeping the floors and would comment every time one of her coworkers walked over a spot she just swept saying things like, "C'mon!" And "Really? I'm gonna kill you." So today I came in and got a #8 on a wheat wrap. I must say it was disappointing. No bacon was added, and as soon as I opened the wrap, it was falling apart. If you're going to offer wraps at least have ones that are big enough to hold what you're putting into there.
