They were out of wheat bread. Out of lemons. The staff was way more laid back than they needed to be since they seemed to be out of stock of almost everything that separates them from the rest of the sub shops in the area. The lack of empathy and concern from the employees was overwhelmingly smug. I go out of my way to go to this Jersey Mike's since I've moved to Silver Spring. It's not far, but it is a trek. This was my second horrible experience. I won't go back nor will I recommend this location. I've never had an experience like this before at Jersey Mike's. Not in South Carolina, DC, or Philadelphia. We ordered thru the app and received everything just as we special ordered. They were on time, ready, and even took extra care to wrap items we asked for on the side. This location had easy parking in front of the restaurant and a friendly staff in the midst of the dinner rush! Will indeed keep coming to enjoy this location's menu and customer service! We just came during the Friday lunch rush and they gave a great welcome. Ordered 5 subs and didn't need to repeat the customization for each sub - they got it right! I had been to the Jersey Mike's in Germantown a few years ago on the recommendation of family. What impressed me most of all was how crowded and noisy it was! The turkey and cheese sub was pretty good, but the commotion was distracting. When I saw a Jersey Mike's was opening in Wheaton, close to me, I was happy to try it again. This time husband picked up carry out. Around lunch time on a Sunday he said it was quiet, not crowded at all. We both had the Chicken Cheese Steak. He ordered it with everything except lettuce and mayo. I'd never had a Chicken Cheese Steak with hot peppers before but it grew on me quickly! The chicken was chopped, the roll was soft and soaked up the sauce, so could have gotten soggy if left in the foil too long. It was good and we'll go back and try some of the cold subs. Just had lunch here. Food was fair. Service was average to good. Floors were pretty filthy. Had to clean my own table. Napkin dispenser was empty at my table. Ran out of straws at the soda machine but they were refilled soon. Bathrooms were pretty bad. One was out of order and closed. The other one had an overflowing trash can, trash on the floor and the toilet seat was not clean. Would have to say definitely not "a sub above". I would rate Subways subs better which is sad. Pot Belly would be my idea of a much better chain sub place. I have eaten at this location or had deliver about five times now since it opened. Not much has changed. Jersey Mike replaced the previous sub shop, Quiznos, at this location. Certainly better decor, customer service that speaks English, and well lit place. But at the end of the day, it's just another ordinary sub shop that serves various slices of meat with your choice of cheese topped with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. And then throw in what they refer to as "The Juice", which is basically just olive oil and vinaigrette. I can't tell the difference b/w this or Subway, to be honest. Meh. read more

Went in after a dentist appt. There was no line and we were helped immediately. Must say I've received much more personable service at this location previously and today was just very basic. The employees seemed to be upset about something amongst one another and the energy was very tense. They made our sandwiches, which were fresh and well made. At check out I grabbed the 3 cookies for the kids meals I had ordered and it wasn't until later I had realized I had been charged for them all the the kids meal included them. I returned later and was given the additional 3 cookies. No one said sorry or seemed to be remorseful that I had to return to the restaurant. It was very upsetting. The staff used to be a lot nicer here. I really am disappointed at home far down hill this location has gone. read more

I made the mistake of going back to the Wheaton, MD store to give it a second chance. First visit I just figure it was busy and disorganized so I waited for my order. Second time was much worse. I ordered , payed, and waited for about 15 min for 3 things. I watched as three customers that came in after me were serviced and gone. Then a customer came to pick up an order that was supposed to be done, it wasn't. He starts speaking up and asking " What you going to do about it". Now they are making his forgotten order and I still don't have mine. I ask at the counter for help but they just keep making other orders and no one seems to know where mine is. Still waiting I finely get my order only to wait while the staff stopped bagging it to talk to each other. You have lost a customer because of your staff. Subs are really tasty. They are also prepared right In front of you. They normally cut the meat and cheese in the sliver in front of you. Food is delicious! They have a variety of hot and cold cut subs with a huge menu. They also have up to 4 sub sizes which is pretty cool! Another good thing is they give out coupons on a monthly basis for free subs (with donations for some of them) for a free sub; which is also good! The only con about this place is the pricing. A regular sub (6") is about $7-8. In subway you can get a foot long for $5-7. Their extra large (a little more than a foot long) is about $11-14. Too pricey, but the food is good! Cold cuts are recommended over hot sandwiches. Staff is friendly, nice, and works well under pressure and when busy! read more

I love this place! I'm posted overseas for work and whenever I come home for a visit it is the first place I get lunch at. And before I head back to the airport it's also the last place I get lunch at. Yes, it's a chain. But they know exactly what they are doing. Everybody is super friendly, and doesn't matter what you get it will be delicious! I used to make subs for a living in NJ at a true mom and pop place. Jersey Mike's are better! And they contribute to Wreaths Across America which puts wreaths on the graves of our veterans at Arlington Cemetery each Christmas. If you are hungry and are tired of other sub places and their almost machine made subs-- hit Jersey Mile's! Cold cuts are not just freshly sliced before your eyes--- they are PERFECTLY SLICED! I've tried both their philly cheese steak and their Italian - Both are delicious! I did the Italian mike's way with cherry pepper relish. It should also be noted that the staff were very patient polite and friendly. I'd recommend it, particularly over subway or quiznos. Some people have said that the hot subs take a bit to prepare - this is kind of true (not terribly long, but noticeably longer than a cold sub of course). However, the end result is worth the wait - and if you read their disclaimer on the packaging they do emphasize quality over rushing the product. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I really like their subs here. It doesn't matter which subs you choose, it's always fresh. The bread is baked right there. All of their add-on ingredients are finely slice and oh so fresh. My favorite is their Italian cold cut made Mike's way. You always see Subway everywhere but not enough of this place. I wish we had a Jersey Mike's Subs next to my job. Let me start by saying the service and the management are great! They were very attentive and made you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is a bit bright but a bit antiseptic looking for my taste. Also, I could see how it could be very loud in there...the echoes that would result from the lack of décor. We ordered cheesesteaks. They were ok but I have had better. The meat just doesn't have the flavor that I expected (and NO they did not cut it as we ordered-I think that is hype). It tasted like it was boiled and then cooked. Not yummy. Also, not enough cheese and tomatoes were a bit ripe. Maybe the cold subs are better? Overall, it was ok because of the bread and customer service but I would say to try somewhere else. read more

Awesomeness!!!! The subs are fresh and delicious!!!! The subs are overstuffed with meat oozing out. I wanted to take a picture, but couldn't. Once I pulled back the foil, it was done. There was no way I was going to wait, I had to delve in and take a nice hefty bite. OH GOD, like music to your ears. I just couldn't stop eating. Came for lunch before grocery shopping at Giant. I ordered a tuna fish mini, my husband got a regular cheesesteak. My sandwich was ready in moments, but 15 minutes later my husband still didn't have a sandwich. Once he pointed this out to the cashier, another employee brought him a sub...that was apparently just "sitting around" (?). He opened it and it definitely wasn't my husband's order. My husband brought it back up to the cashier, and while he was offered a replacement (that would likely have taken another 15 minutes), he asked for a refund instead. My sandwich was tasty, but there's really no excusing how long it took for them to make a hot sub, that ultimately never came. Especially considering that when I counted there were 11 people working! Clearly they have not ironed out the kinks yet, and I'm not sure we will be back to see if they ever do. read more

Food was good. But, not the service. Started off well with the staff taking my family's order and everything was clear and correct. However, paying for the food (asked to split the transaction) and the order itself was not good. One of the sandwiches had ingredients that we specifically asked to be removed. And, the ingredients we asked for were not added. To top it all off, the sandwich had to be remade. And, it was remade incorrectly. Please encourage the staff to pay attention to the order. Today, Saturday, May 20, 2017 - I went into this location and me and another couple walked in at the same time he young lady went to the restroom and the young walk up to counter there were two people behind the counter one person was finishing up on a sandwich and the young lady was standing there she immediately recognized the young man and started a conversation with him,after she finished ring up the customer, She went right back to the conversation at that point another employee came in from outside and then all three employee's started talking to the young and left me and other patrons that had since came in standing there waiting to be helped one employee started slicing meat and the other two continued there conversation still leaving us waiting to be helped it wasn't until I started to walk out that they decided to help the others that was in line. i didn't appreciate the lack of customer service. It's hard to match the atmosphere of the Chipotle Cheese Steak, but this Jersey Mike's location does just that and more. From a hot sub that is out of this world, to sub artisans behind the meat cutters, this JM offers great service. My only complaint is that the soap dispenser didn't work. I'm more at a "meh" since I've definitely had better, but I think it's in part due to my being a New Yorker with deep ties to delis and having exorbitantly high standards when it comes to making sandwiches. The chicken parm had a little too much sauce on it, and the big kahuna cheesesteak had some bone shards or something in bits of the beef. Flavor wise they were both just okay. This place is awesome! After eating a Jersey Mike's sub, I won't ever willingly eat a Subway sub again. Why does a Jersey Mike's sub taste soooo much better than Subway's? Is it the toppings? Nope, Subway has more topping choices. Is it the variety of sub choices? Nope, Subway has more variety. Jersey Mike's secret?? They freshly slice the meats for each and every sub! That's it, yet their subs are so much more flavorful than Subway that pre slices their meats, leaves it sitting around in bins - doesn't taste as fresh. It takes a much larger crew to be individually slicing the meat for each and every sub, but you end up with a superior sub. Think Mcdonalds vs real deli and you have the Subway vs Jersey Mike's difference. read more

It's not a bad sub. But, I think most of the popularity is hype and that this is less about Jersey Mike's making a great sub, than everyone else making a lousy one. We've gotten so used to Subway with its cardboard-like bread, its various cold cuts that are mostly made from processed turkey and its soul-less toppings and condiments. We no longer remember what a typical small sandwich shop sub tastes like. Ingredient-wise, Jersey Mike's isn't much better. I was a buyer in food service and I know the difference between good and middlin' product. To Jersey Mike's credit, they don't seem to use fake ham, made from turkey. But, they also don't use the good stuff. They use "chopped ham" loaf, which is processed from ham chunks, ham scraps, and a lot of gelatin. Their capicola (hot Italian ham) is essentially the same thing with a different loaf shape and rind coloring. They seem to use a decent cheese, but its hard to tell what the formulation is. There's nothing impressive about them slicing your meat, to order. It's a gimmick. I reduces waste and saves them money. It also adds a little theatrical touch to your order. The bread isn't as weird as Subway's many kooky variety and it taste OK, but in the end its just an average white sub roll. Their lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, pepper relish, pepperacinos, and jalapenos are identical to everyone else's. The only thing that is a bit unusual (depending on where you live) is the traditional Italian deli conventions of adding a very generous dousing of red wine vinegar, oil, and a sprinkling of a common mixture of oregano, black pepper, and salt. This is about the only thing that distinguishes them from the Subways and Quiznos-type subs. While it does make a nice difference, its not exactly earthshaking. This is not a cheap sandwich. The full 12" sub can cost between $11.50 and $14. They offer half subs and quarter subs. The quarter subs are a joke. They start at around $5. (That's like paying $20 for a 12"!) Like I said, its not a bad sandwich. But, I don't expect that Jersey Mike's is going to be some lasting, runaway fast food giant. It's easily copy-able by the other chains. The ingredients are cheap. The delivered product is expensive. Enjoy it while the novelty lasts. read more

Disappointing. Dirty tables. Ordered a cheesesteak with friend onions. It came with all sorts of other ingredients that did not seem to be mentioned on the menu. Has "Jersey Mike" never been to Philly? Hint: go over the Betsy Ross Bridge. Whatever those random ingredients were on the cheesesteak, they hurt it, not helped it. At a minimum, warn the customer! In its defense, the little bit of meat and cheese that had not touched the other stuff tasted pretty good. Mountain Dew canister was also empty. Now it *was* 1:30, maybe the nearly empty restaurant had been chock-full-o customers moments before we arrived. After being welcomed, "Do you want it Mike's way," I expected a sub like I know from Manasquan, NJ. #13 Giant is my regular order. But instead of two rows of ham, the store in Wheaton just gave one. And the meat is being sliced thinner. It was such a disappointment that the last time I was in Manasquan I took a photo and watched them carefully as they made the sandwich. No doubt about it.
