Ginger Cardamom Punch and the menu
    Michelle N.

Buns n Rice is a cute little spot that can be easy to miss- sometimes these are the best restaurants for yummy food! Adding to the collection of great restaurants in Kensington - go try this place! The Cardamom Punch was so delicious - cooling yet spicy. My favorite thing was the bulgogi buns. My shrimp burger was good too but the texture was a little weird for me. I would go back again to try some of the other "chef's specials". Korean with a hipster twist and yummy bites. The restaurant looks to be run by a family and I love to see and support family businesses. They are friendly and the food comes up quick!

Simple menu, great food. Haven't tried everything on the menu yet but the snow onion chicken and the garlic chicken are our go-tos. I think this might be my favorite snow onion chicken I've had (the pickled onions compliments the fried chicken, rice, and white sauce so well). I would recommend getting the sauces on the side, especially if you taking it out to go.

Great for takeout. What a unique take on bao buns with delicious Korean food. The Kimchi pancake is a new favorite, slight spice with crunchy exterior and you can mix it up with dipping sauce. The Pork Bao Buns were the highlight, such a great sear with pork that melted as you ate it and that sauce was lip licking good. We did get an order of their bimbimbop, meat was a bit dry, not great; just stick with the Bao buns and you'll be real happy. Efficient takeout service.

Each bao bun comes with three buns which makes the price a little more understandable. I'd love to come back and try their bibimbap! What we got: Pork Bao Bun 4* the sweet chili sauce was slightly too sweet but other than that this was fantastic! Bulgogi Bao Bun - 4* I really liked this. I thought the jalapeno mayo might be overpowering but it wasn't, it was just the right amount.

Unassuming strip mall restaurant with amazing food. Known for the homemade dumplings/buns and juicy meat. Unique restaurant. Downside is the seats And tables which would Benefit from a facelift. Food to go would Be best. This place is worth a visit.

Very good Korean food! It's a small deli like store with a small outdoor seating area. Service is good. Unfortunately they don't have restrooms We tried the bon ... ... the first option on their menu with noodles and meat And the fish tacos All very good and good portions

    Shrimp burger

Giving a 5 because I don't believe in trying to hurt a business. I was really excited to try the shrimp burger bc I LOVED the ebi burger at Japanese McDonald's. The patty here was just so small. The sandwich felt mostly like bread unfortunately. The flavor is great, though! I would pay more for a double patty sandwich or bigger patty if they offered that option!

Accepts cash and credit card. Free parking in front of their building. Also does delivery, curbside pickup and carry out. We stumble upon this restaurant through Yelp. As a fan of Korean food, I thought I give this place a try. Their bibibop is pretty good. I like their spicy pork here. You have the option of either rice or noodles. Comes with a fried egg. Their crispy garlic chicken is very juicy and tons of good flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with their pork belly bun. Thick piece of fatty pork which will melt in your mouth. Our entree came with a small soda which looked it's mixed with eggs. Pretty good. Worth giving this place a try. Delicious food and will return again.

Super happy! I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. The bimbibap bowl with bigulgi was awesome. Garlic soy sauce was perfect. The kids loved their egg sandwiches on bagels. Big kid kept talking about how good the bacon was. And they made it all to order from online order to my car super fast. Perfect for a hungry couple of monsters in the car. Yum. Thanks for a great local

Pleasant, quiet restaurant. Food was made fresh but ready in less than 10 minutes. I got the bulgogi bao buns and they were not spicy at all, even with jalopeno mayo. Next time I will try something spicier - of which they have plenty of options!

On a friend's recommendation, I snuck through the back roads of Kensington to find Buns N Rice, a family-owned tiny eatery. Why haven't I been here before?!?! We got the kimchi pancakes (smooth and chewy, not too greasy, not too spicy, with just a bit of crunch from the kimchi), the fish tacos (fresh, crisply-fried fish, not fishy at all, with fresh cabbage and smooth sauce in soft taco shells), and the tofu bao buns (fried squares of tofu, deliciously seasoned, stuffed inside soft, fluffy buns with just a hint of crispy lettuce and carrots). We downed the food within minutes, it was so good. No inside dining yet, but the food is well worth it for take out. Give this place a try. I know I'll be coming back soon!

Buns N Rice is a small eatery that offers up rice bowls, tacos, sandwiches & subs, and even housemade soojunggwa (a cinnamon drink). We came here several times for lunch, and had ordered: +the Bibimap - chock full of well-prepared rice, veggies, and a choice of protein (bulgogi, spicy pork, chicken, and tofu); it comes with a fried egg and a choice of sauce (gochujang, garlic soy sauce, or garlic soybean paste); we went for the bulgogi, which was tender and marinated/seasoned perfectly; the veggies could have been crispier +the Spicy Garlic Chicken & Rice - little boneless battered fried chicken bites, dressed in a spicy garlic sauce, served with a side of steamed rice; I was a little worried how spicy this would be, but it actually had a nice savory flavor to it; watch out for those sliced peppers! +the Pork Bao Bun - thick-cut slices of pork belly, topped with pickled cucumbers, carrots, lettuce, and sliced scallions, drizzled with a sweet chili; the hub was a huge fan of the sweet chili sauce +the Kimchi Fish Tacos - 3 of spicy breaded pollock pieces, topped with homemade kimchi, lettuce, and spicy mayo; the spicy mayo was definitely spicy, and there was a lot of kimchi and the lettuce, which I appreciated +the Steak & Cheese Sub - comes with grilled onion, mayo, and provolone; we opted out of the lettuce and the tomatoes; definitely one of the better steak & cheeses I've had - the bread is so soft, and the sub is always piping hot, oozing with cheese and juicy chopped steak Staff are kind and friendly! They're not opened inside for dining, so it's all to-go. They do have a couple of tables set up outside if you wanted to eat al fresco. Parking in the small strip plaza lot. +Steak & Cheese Sub +friendly & kind staff +to-go orders only +parking available in the small strip plaza lot

Amazing place and another hidden gem in Montgomery County! I didn't get a close look at their sign, but I think they've recently changed their opening hours so just be aware (possibly call ahead to confirm). This restaurant is a small, Korean American deli that serves really awesome bibimbap with egg soup, pork buns, fish tacos and bulgogi sandwiches just to name a few dishes. You order upfront and can either pick-up and leave deli-style or take a seat and they'll serve you. Employees here are super friendly and welcoming. I noticed that they would consistently acknowledge their customers walking in and thanking them as they walked out. What makes it even better is how affordable and quick their service here is. I haven't tried their breakfast options but I would suspect it's just as good.

I finally found it after walking back up the street for the second time. What threw me off was that there is an interior street called Bethesda Lane!!! I blame gps for not telling me to turn down this lane because my phone kept saying that I have arrived. But it was worth the walk up and down Bethesda Avenue. I got there before the noon rush and ordered the bibimbap which consisted of bulgogi steak and tofu with spicy kimchi, housemade pickles, bean sprout banchan, and veggies atop crispy rice. Topped with gochujang and a fried egg. It was not too spicy as there was just a dab of gochujang which was enough to give the dish a little kick but not overly spicy. The kimchi was also on the spicy side but again, fine for me. All the ingredients were tasty. I especially loved the tofu mixed in with the steak sauce. My first bite of the tofu actually made me think it was the meat. The rice wasn't "crispy" as described. I think if I hadn't taken it as a to-go order, it may have been prepared in a stone pot therefore giving me that crispy rice. I will need to try a dine-in next time to be sure. The egg was perfectly done.

Generally speaking, I thought the food was fine. Was the food amazing? No. BUT, it was not horrible - I would say that my meal was slightly above average. Also, I thought the prices and portion sizes were pretty fair. I think the noodle soup was about $14 and the wontons were about $7. My order arrived to my home around 45ish minutes. However, I think the delivery aspect is more of a Grubhub thing rather than the restaurant. While the restaurant provided separate containers for the noodles and the broth, I wish they provided a larger container to mix the soup and noodles like many of the ramen and pho places provided for its delivery/take-out orders. Although I was not blown away by the food, it was good enough for me to reorder in the future.
