As someone who lived in Beit Hanina and Shufat for three years, I continue to be disappointed that a bakery calling themselves Jerusalem Bakery does not sell the kind of pita I bought in Jerusalem any more. In my friend's meal, the sides were frozen. The rice and chicken shawarma was warm but putting food on a cold plate makes it cold fast. Highly doubt I will return. My wife got the mixed kebab platter and was happy except that the curried chicken kebab was WAY too spicy for her, but perfect for me. My son really enjoyed his mixed shawarma platter. Everything was tasty and fresh. The ambiance was lacking a bit. It does feel like a commercial bakery inside was some tables and chairs added. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather. Service was good. It was counter service so we had to go back inside and get our food, they didn't bring it out to us or even announce when it was ready. I had the best lamb shank I have ever had at the Jerusalem Bakery on Alpharetta Hwy. The hummus, baba ganouche, and cucumber/tomato/yogurt were also delicious. My husband's chicken wrap with fries was much cheaper by half and also good, but the chicken was a little dry. The grocery store is very cool and took us out of country for a little while. We purchased some interesting cheeses, dates, halvah, and Turkish Delights there. I used to go to the Jerusalem Bakery on Old Milton and so glad they opened this location since it's closer to me. The space is beautiful! I love the high ceilings and the outdoor area is very large especially for the new COVID world. They definitely spent some time on designing the location. The food is excellent. The shawarma is juicy and tasty as usual. I love the fact that the platters are filling, but won't make you feel stuffed. The ingredients are so fresh and high quality. The best part is the fresh bakery in the back where you can get all kinds of breads and desserts. Love this place. Lots of spaced out seating. Employees are masked while the food it prepared for you to see. The shawarma and kabobs are to die for.
