This is a rather small market attached to a restaurant, roughly the same size. I had the beef with hummus dish, and it was one of the most epic dishes I've had. The hummus was perfectly smooth and creamy, way better than anything one can find in a supermarket. The pita was fresh and warm. There was some ground jalapeno's for an optional punch, and there was plenty of olive oil to add flavor to everything. I can't wait to try other dishes at this restaurant. read more

I was excited to hear that Memphis had a middle-Eastern market...coming from L.A., I was so excited thinking about ALL the wonderful things and tasty treasures that i would find there. It was a Saturday, mid- morning...fresh produce was pretty much non- existant, lebni and ( fresh baked, still warm pita ) and dates were there ...bought some - pita did not impress, spices were all pre- packaged so I passed, and deli meat was pretty much non-existent. Pita comes in fresh on Saturday...still hot when it comes in!... A huge plus but i can honestly say, ive eaten tastier! The merchandise seems dated but i could still see potential. This was pre- covid...perhaps i will give it another pass. read more

The worst food ever I ordered 2 orders of lamb and 1 order of mix meats ordered delivery the lamb were burned and unflavored the taste of burn was horrible the same with the mixed meat was not that burned like the lamb but was sooo disgusting. We love Mediterranean food but this place was the worse we ever eat and spending $130 for the food that went straight in the trash we had to order pizza for the kids. After eating at Queen of Sheba next door, we stopped by Jerusalem to do some shopping. We live in Nashville (and were visiting my brother in law in Memphis), so we have quite a few really great Middle Eastern/Kurdish markets. Jerusalem was just as great as the ones we frequent in Nashville! Freshly baked breads, halal meat, cans and jars of everything you can imagine, refrigerators of dairy products,...they had everything! I picked up some things I had run out of (preserved lemons, Turkish coffee) and enjoyed wandering the store! It was well laid out, well stocked, and very organized! The woman who assisted us with checkout at the register was lovely and made sure we knew the bread was fresh! It's a great store to check out if you love to cook! Wonderful products! I finally made into this place a few times over the past few weeks after a couple of years of wondering what all I might find here. It is a great little market with attached restaurant. You can get your bread, hummus ingredients, halal meats and many other Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine ingredients. They usually have a big display of baklava by the cash register that gets me every time. The staff is helpful and very friendly. This will be my place to pick up a quick lunch or ingredients to explore the regions cuisine. read more

This is a halal (butcher that slaughters the animal in the 'humane' manner that corresponds with Islamic law))/Mediterranean restaurant/Arabic food market. And the owner does a good job of providing all of the basics and more for cooking, including lemon juice, tomato sauce, Sultan olive oil, dates, and more. As is usually the case, plenty of hate on here from folks expecting fine dining. If you come here expecting an exquisite atmosphere, then you deserve your disappointment. It's a very simple diner, but clean with quick friendly service and fast food prep. I started with the hummus and pine nuts. Outstanding. The pita bread was fresh and hot. My entrée was the #32 combo which includes a salad, kafta, chicken, beef shish tauof, and rice. All of these were fresh and tasty. I will certainly return. Not very happy this time. Food was good on some items. But service was disappointing! I suggested this place for lunch and to pick up some spices to my coworker. It's been a while since my last visit and I needed more spices. The staff was not friendly AT ALL they looked a Us with judgement and contempt while walking through the store. They never spoke to us but instead spoke over us to others in their native tongue. They were very short when asking for payment. I called ahead to order hummus for my coworker, a falafel sandwich and lentil soup for me. The Hispanic lady that took my order could not speak English very well so I only ordered a few items. The hummus was not made fresh to order like the used to and it had way too much olive oil and paprika, very messy. My falafel sandwich was very dry and hard. But the lentil soup was on point as always! I understand various cultural differences, however we southern Americans expect some courtesies when spending our money especially if I recommend you to someone else. I was embarrassed as the cashier at the grocer looked my coworker up and down with here nose in the air. Not cool lady! I will be back until I find someone else that sells the same items and has your awesome prices. But I will never suggest or invite someone else. read more

Over all- they gave a good amount of food. The flavors were good, however, I did add salt and pepper. I ordered falafel to start- it was almost more of a dumpling than what I'm used to, but good, cheap and came out quickly. For dinner I ordered Shawerma combo (chicken & beef)entree and the Combination entree (shish kabob, kifta & shish taouk). To finish, I had the Arabic coffee (similar to an espresso shot...tiny little cup, very srong with a hint of cardamom I believe) If I'm ever back in Memphis for more than a day, I would consider coming back to this restaurant. read more

Stumbled across this place when in the area doing Doordash. Looked it up and decided to try it for a quick lunch. It's located inside a specialty grocery store (fascinating inventory!) and is relatively small and unassuming. Was served large helpings of hummus and pitas and a falafel pocket bread sandwich. Both were delicious and I could barely finish. It was under $10. You pay at the grocery checkout. I will definitely go there again. read more

I'm going to knock this restaurant down from it's 4-star pedestal given my experience tonight. I went into Jerusalem with a friend for dinner. We arrived at 6:30pm. The lone employee looked at us like she had no idea why we would walk in her restaurant at such an awful hour. We awkwardly asked if they were open. She awkwardly responded that they were open, but the kitchen would close at 7:30pm. Um, okay, it's 6:30 so not sure what the big deal is. We stayed despite the obvious suggestion to not stay. Jerusalem was out of the one item I really wanted which was an offal plate. If you don't know what offal is, look it up. You'll probably throw up, but I am an adventurous foodie and recognize the benefits of non-muscle meats. I digress. The food was average at best. Nothing special. Don't ask to substitute anything. You may cause a cosmic meltdown. Both Greek markets I've been to in Memphis were low on service which drives my rating as much as anything. Perhaps there is a cultural disconnect, I don't know. Despite the poor service, I hope to return to Jerusalem. I know other people like it, and I am enamored with any restaurant that serves offal. A round two review is in the future. read more

This place is divey and the service is terrible. That said, FALAFEL. Oh, the falafel. This is easily the best falafel I have ever had. It's so perfectly crunchy and spicy and savory. I had the falafel sandwich, and I feel the sandwich itself could be improved upon, but the falafel discs were glorious. We also had the baba ghanoush, which my boyfriend thought was excellent, but I guess I'm just not a huge baba ghanoush person because I found it merely "meh." Bear with me now, because I'm going to tell you the secret to making the best sandwich ever: Step 1: Go to Jerusalem Market and order falafel with that spicy mayonnaise dip, some pita bread, and baklava to go. (Be careful. There is a language barrier.) Step 2: Go home and mix the spicy mayonnaise with another tablespoon of pure mayonnaise. Trust me, it's better. Step 3: Fill your pita bread with the mayo mix, falafel, some feta cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Step 4: Bite into it. Cry, because it's just that good. Step 5: After you've demolished the sandwich, demolish the baklava. This is the kind of falafel one could write sonnets about. So don't let the weird exterior and the tv playing middle eastern soap operas or the oddly placed chandeliers with tacky leather sofas dissuade you. Go here. Do it. NOW! read more

Food is great! Here at Jerusalem we ordered the hummus, baba ganoush, lentil soup, and a salad. The price is very nice and affordable and the food was really delicious. The bread that came with the hummus and baba ganoush was very fresh and soft and you could tell that they make it there which was pretty awesome. Wonderful place to dine. It is not a site for the pretentious but for those open to culutre. I tried the peta with humus and the falafel wonderful. I also had the meat trio, also incredible. The baklava was fantastic. It gets 5 stars on fresh taste, phenomenal service, and original culture. If you want a taste of the Middle East, try this fantastic restaurant. Also, I visited the store to the side and bought some Yogurt drink, Ahmad London Tea from Sri Lanka and Hillwa o Morra Coffee from Jordan. read more

This is definitely the best falafel and hummus in Memphis. Everything is so fresh and tasty, this cafe is a hidden gem. And the prices are so cheap too. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant experience, look elsewhere, but if you want fantastic, delicious food in a very casual cafe, this is the place. Their food are tasty, ample in portions, and the prices are very reasonable. They have daily specials and regular menu. You could not go wrong in choosing any of the entree because they are all awesome. Like any other great restaurants, the food are made from scratch and it takes time but you will be rewarded at the end because you will like it. The real deal! I've tried most of the Middle Eastern restaurants in Memphis & this is the most authentic & offers the best variety of food. You'll usually hear a few other languages being spoken because a lot of the customers are from the Middle East. It is not fancy & attached to a grocery store but the food is great. The owners are really nice & are great with kids. They put a bit of spicy sauce in the middle of many of the dishes so ask them to hold it if you don't like spicy food. read more

Went for dinner and was the only table there the entire evening. The flavors were, well, weird. I've eaten a lot of middle eastern food in different cities, Israeli, Jordanian, Lebanon, Iraqi, Iranian, Turkish, Egyptian, and I've never seen anything like the food at this place. The salads were particularly disappointing. Service was sparse. We watched the server/owner/cook chase off a customer because they closed at 7PM (I think), only to have them sent back by the shop owner with someone who forced them to provide them service as we were leaving. I live in Arkansas near Little Rock, but whenever I'm in Memphis, I go to this store for shopping. They have fresh meat and chicken at reasonable prices. They also offer many other products. They have delicious cooked frozen Kofta kebab. Their fresh pastry (Baklava) also delicious. read more

Jerusalem, has great Middle Eastern cuisine but food can sometimes be a hit and miss! I really think the food depends on the chef cooking. Sometimes there can be a language barrier and some awkwardness, but if you get straight to the point with your order and know exactly what you are ordering you should be fine. I love the lemon garlic humus, the baba ganoush, and the basis beef gyro. I would suggest ordering your food to go and not eating inside Jerusalem. The inside seating area is basic and it reminds me of an old hot and sketchy dining area! I've ate inside before but it just wasn't a good experience. Over all the food is worth going in to order. If you frequent Jerusalem, then you know exactly what you I mean. Overall the food is usually a great value and is great and delicious! read more

This restaurant/grocery is largely hit or miss, depending upon who's in the kitchen doing the cooking. The first time I came here for lunch and had the falafel plate and greek salad, it was delicious. The next few times, not so much. Since Memphis doesn't have a large Middle-Eastern community, its exotic and appreciate it for what it is. If you lower your expectations (and standards) and don't expect fine dining, its not bad. read more

don't come here expecting 5 star dining. i've always come here for lunch and nothing more than a few groceries. most of their menu items are great and very reasonably priced. some items i wouldn't recommend, such as the baba ghanoush and lentil soup, which always seem to be leftovers that are reheated. the hummus is always fresh and the pita bread is always heated to order. their falafel is excellent. i would definitely recommend for lunch. read more
