I was very happy with the work done by Santos and the decision by Keon to fix the dip in my basement when it was found that after stabilizing the joists, more needed to be done due to water damage of the joists. Our office building is a historic property in Howard County. It's over 200 years old. The floors were pulling apart from the walls and we were getting cracks in our walls so we decided to look for a foundation repair specialist. We found JES. We scheduled an appointment and their certified field inspector/glorified salesman (Steve Grafton) came out and looked at our house. He was so knowledgeable and made it sound like lifting our foundation would be a piece of cake. JES then sent out another crew of foremen who went around the house saying they would use lasers to show how much they leveled the building after construction was completed. We also decided to add a sub pump to our basement because we would occasionally get water during heavy rain. This would all take about a week. We were sold. We signed our contract amounting to more than $30k. Things pretty much went south after this. The men started a couple days later then they were supposed to because one of their workers contracted covid. (understandable) When they did start to work on our building, they only worked half days and after the fourth day they disappeared. We called Marcos (the manager? for our project) but he never picked up. I had to call the JES baltimore office and after making several calls to a polite young lady, the crew finally came back out 2 weeks later ... We were now into our THIRD week. The crew quickly wrapped things up from here BUT when asked if they had lifted or even ATTEMPTED to lift our foundation, they simply said NO. NO ATTEMPT. There was no explanation as to why. There was no laser leveling of the floors to show any improvements whatsoever. Also, the electrical cords for the sub pump were crudely wrapped and placed so unprofessionally that we are afraid it's an electrical hazard. When we called them about this, they said all was good because we would need an inspection with them and someone from the county to make sure everything was good. They scheduled us in with Howard County only for them to not show up. There was no call no notice. I had to again call them and ask if they were coming and their answer was that Howard County decided that they did not need to come out so we would not be getting an inspection. Basically, we paid these jokesters over $30k to drill holes in our basement and dump concrete in them "to stabilize our foundation." ADVICE. DO NOT USE THEM. THEY WILL NOT LIFT YOUR FOUNDATION. THEY WILL NOT DO 80-90% OF WHAT THEY PROMISED. AVOID AT ALL COST. read more

I didn't even want to give it a one star rating. After reading the reviews I wish I would have done it before I hired JES. They do not communicate with each other at all. So many different versions of the work being done. The work is still not complete yet but the fight is just starting. Please don't hire this company to do anything. We requested a free estimate and were gifted with the knowledge and company of Jason. He was fantastic to work with and gave us everything we needed to know to fix with our 1929 basement. At my request, a JES employee returned to inspect the crew's work and, in coordination with their structural engineer, determined additional work was required. I have been scheduled twice for the repair crew to return to complete the work, and twice they have not shown and have not communicated schedule changes with me. Have been waiting months for resolution for a foundation issue. Will not return calls. after last call I made in January and was to receive a return call still have not. so called again to find out my project has been cancelled. without notifying me. again, was to receive a return call about receiving deposit back and still have not been contacted back. last attempt to receive deposit back so I can go elsewhere before legal action is taken. it's sad and very disappointing so many months have been wasted. read more

Called on a Friday. Estimator came,on time, on Saturday but wouldn't give me a estimate at that time, said he would call in a couple hours - never got a call. Called them twice on Monday, both times with a promise of a call back - never got a call. Tuesday morning I finally got an email saying they declined the job, even though their website shows my type of repair. Lousy communication and given that I wonder about their repair work. We had a sump pump installed as part of our waterproofing, and they used tape to connect a tube from a pipe that leads to the sump pump! Now there is water leaking from it and I've received no response to my email, or text message to correct the problem. Poor communication and using tape is completely unacceptable as I now have water on my floor. read more

The Certified Field Inspector, Jay Hyman, tried to sell me a $11k interior repair which turned out to be only $40. He can be described as a con-man. He rigged his moisture meter to go off to further sell me on the interior repair which included cutting out my drywall. This is after I showed him the hole where the water was coming into my home. He was late, rude, and wasted an hour of my day. Plus, he had a really bad toupee that smelled. read more

Had an estimator out to my home to evaluate a porch issue (we had a third party structural engineer evaluation of our entire property the week before). The estimator begins to tell me my house is sliding off the slab, the engineer doesn't know what they are talking about, and telling me if I had gone with them to begin with I could have had an engineer evaluation for free. I don't need to justify anything to this person but it was third party to try to get an objective evaluation of the home. He then continues to bad mouth all the other companies, tout the proprietary piers they sell, and it all seemed a bit theatrical. I just wanted an evaluation and an estimate. The kicker was being told "I looked up your house, I can't believe you paid XXX for it to have this many problems." I think that's really creepy, and unprofessional. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

If I could give these guys a zero I would. They were supposed to waterproof my basement. It cost me $15K. Didn't send out enough guys to do the work showed up late, charge me for custom covers when they actually put up basic $10 home depot covers. Installed another sum pump, but didn't address the one that was already there. Just unplugged it. When I called and they finally came out 3 weeks later, just to tell me that they could do nothing it wasn't in the contract. THEY unplugged my other sum pump. I paid for waterproofing now my basement is flooded. read more

They take your deposit, don't show up during the scheduled window and then don't return phone calls for 2 months AND THEN keep the deposit all while claiming they are "trying to work with you". The guy said "I see a lot of calls here". Sure you do, because I have to call ALL the time to leave messages that were never returned. They also conveniently ignored their responsibility in the contract (signed in July) to get the work done in a reasonable time frame. Find a good local company to work with instead of JES. read more

I would never recommend this company to anyone. They are scammers. They were supposed to fix my porch which is settling and cracking. When the workers came they put the piers on the wrong side of the porch. Then they had an engineer come out to actually survey the porch area for what really should have been done in the first place. After he completed his survey Jes quotes me a price way more than what was originally quoted. I chose not to have them do anymore work on my porch. But since they already installed the 4 piers on the wrong side and I didn't agree to have the work completed they said the could not guarantee their work. Now I have to pay over $13,000 for a job that has not been completed correctly. Now my porch looks worse than before. read more

Basement work was done in my home about 3 weeks ago. sun pump placed , looked good. But the room was left in shamble's. electrical cords left hanging from ceiling, carpet and padding not put back and wall panel was not put back on the walls. will not, and I mean not be recommending this company to anyone. read more

DUPED Contacted JES because the back of our house appeared to be sinking. Additionally, a crack ran across the middle of our basement wall. Engineer came out measured using a laser level inside the house and confirmed the dining room back wall was lower than the dining room front and middle walls. Engineer recommended Push Piers ( total of 5) be installed to correct back of the house from sinking. Work was completed in 2012, however, work is guaranteed for 25 years. In 2020 we contacted JES because we are still experiencing the same identical issue. An Engineer visited the house and confirmed that the house is exhibiting those same issue(s) and that any additional work should be covered under the warranty. I have attempted to speak with someone on four (4) separate occasions to get clarification and resolve this issue, however, I keep getting the run-a-round without a call back. My messages have repeatedly asked that JES explain how the work completed improved our 2012 reported issues. We paid for a service, based on the recommendation of the JES Engineer that did not address or resolve our issues. We feel DUPED. Now we can't get someone to explain and show how the work provided improved our situation. Nor will they honor the warranty. My next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau. read more

Like all the most recent reviews of this company I am noticing a pattern. After carefully considering multiple companies my husband and I felt like JES was the most reputable; something I'm starting to feel was smoke and mirrors with well thought out Lip Service. From lack of communication on pulling the correct permits and even being appeasing with having to delay the start dates. Red flag number one was seeing JES start work on our home without ever having given us a pre-work walkthrough it seemed like a game of telephone with unreturned voicemails. Clearly they don't do their due diligence when it comes to following their own supposed standards, even if they are printed in black and white. Zach the sales manager was nothing but rude and condescending to me after finding out there was a sag on the top floor from a broken joist. I appreciate senior laborers Santos, Scott and Antoine for constantly keeping in communication with us regarding what work they were completing, if not for their professionalism we probably would have stopped work a long time ago and figured out how to cancel. read more

Mark from JES came out to look at some foundation and structural concerns that I had. After a quick inspection he advised that the home was structurally sounds and only needed cosmetic. Because the scope of work was only cosmetic Mark informed me that this is not a job JES foundation would take on, but still took the time to explain everything and guidance on how to proceed with the repairs. read more
