When I took my Subaru in for an oil change, the tech didn't tighten the oil cap which popped off and blew oil all over my engine. Then, two weeks ago my Corvette wouldn't start, made a loud noise when I pushed the start button. AAA was not able to start it. Had to call a flat bed. Ken Scales did nothing for 2 days. On the third day they called and said the battery was dead. I told them I suspected something else was wrong because a dead battery makes no sound at all when you push the start button. I asked them to check everything having to do with starting the car that might have caused that noise. When they called to say they replaced the battery, I asked if they found what was causing the noise when pushing the start button. They said it was just a dead battery that's all, couldn't find anything else. This week, I drove the Corvette to Brookings, turned the engine off, but when I tried to start it again it made the same noise as before the new battery was installed. Worse yet, AAA said there were no AAA approved automotive service places within 30 miles, and they will only tow for 3 miles. I was terrified - 2 1/2 hours from home and no way to get there. After hitting the gas pedal a couple of times, I managed to get the car started, decided to try to make it home to Jacksonville. Took the car to Bob Thomas Automotive (BBB approved). They took the car right in, called me to say they hadn't found the problem yet, but assured me they would keep looking. Next morning their best technician called to say it took him 2 1/2 hours, but he finally found the problem. The grey wire to the fuel pump was loose. I will NEVER take my cars to Ken Scales again.

I need to also mention that I have never done a road trip before. I was only a couple hours into my drive when I got a "low engine coolant" warning from my car. Panic stricken, I pulled over and managed to find that this place was close. Jared let me know that they could rearrange their schedule and check my coolant levels quickly. Fortunately, they found no leaks and only needed to top off my coolant. I was there a total of two hours. Excellent service! While I waited some exceptional things I want to point out about this place besides the service and friendly staff. The place is very clean. From the front desk, coffee station, and waiting room to the bathroom. Very clean. In the restroom, there was a lovely small basket that contained various travel size items from combs to pads and tampons. If you were traveling, they were free to take. I helped myself to an Emery board. In the waiting room, they had an area with books that were free to take if you so wished too. This place is a gem and I feel it is very community oriented. If I ever have a problem in this area again, I know exactly where I'm bringing my car.

I wound up having to pull off at the second runaway truck ramp -- a very dangerous place to be, but unavoidable. After more than an hour of wrangling with my roadside assistance service, which was trying to wriggle out of its commitment to provide the services I pay a good deal for (beware, RVers -- Good Sam Roadside Assistance was ANYTHING but a good Samaritan in this case!), I got them to send a tow truck to take my travel trailer and truck down off that scary mountain. Good Sam told the tow truck operator, once he was there and had my vehicles hooked up, that they would not honor my claim and pay them. To his credit, Christian called Travis, his supervisor, to explain what was going on. Travis did the right thing, saying, "Get them off that dangerous spot, and we'll deal with their service later." I am hoping he was able to recoup his costs from Good Sam, because Blue Line is a great, very capable tow service with good human beings who did the decent thing. I will never forget my sense of relief coming down off that steep grade. Thank you, guys, for being the anti-jerks and renewing my faith in human nature!

It is truly unfortunate that after 3 cars, and 19 years of great service while Star was under…read moreprevious ownership I am now writing this 1 Star review. I had triple A tow my car to Star on 10/27/25. I gave them a call in advance and let them know I would be sending it there and stated what had happened. For full context, I was exiting the free way in central point there was a small box in the middle of the road and I had not choice but to slow down and go over it. My car being an Alfa Romeo Giulia sits low and something was pulled out of the bottom of my car and it immediately lost all power steering. I was able to pull to the side at the very end of the ramp. No body damage at all, car was still drivable but no power steering. The tow truck drivers were able to drive it into the flatbed themselves. Zach from Star automotive s initial quote 10/27/25 totaled $10,054.53. See pic and note Quote 1. (This quote will dramatically change once insurance adjuster is involved) 4 quotes later, 2 subcontracted dealerships, a broken fuel module that made my car completely underivable, and no answers from Zach or Austin about what happened. The insurance claims adjuster, the service manager in Portland and the technicians all agree in writing that my car was not drivable when it was brought in and that someone clearly damaged the fuel module brought the car in with zero fuel, and then tried to cover it up ...the technician stated "it was hanging off when I saw it". Zach blamed this entire incident on a recall. Once again in writing the alfa Romeo dealership states this was not possible. I did not accuse Zach or Star right away when I was presented with all the evidence and facts...I called Zach and sent him the email from the service manager who he spoke with and checked my car in with. I simply wanted an answer, and a solution to this issue. It's Friday 4:47pm 2/27/26 my car is 246 miles away one way. The additional cost is $1113.31. I just wanted my car back. When I went down to Star after my phone call with Zach to simply discuss this in person...they said Paul is on vacation and that there was nothing they could do for me. I said I wanted to believe Zach wouldn't take advantage of me knowing how hard things were already finically ....Austin and Zach made many excuses that were not only unreasonable and impractical explanations for this incident but Austin then proceeded to yell at me and threatened to call the police on me. To the owner Paul...I know you are not aware of any of this, and from one business owner to another I am truly sorry this is what your employees are doing behind your back representing your business. I could have chosen a statefarm preferred shop, but due to my past experiences with Star, Dave specifically when he was there I chose your shop. Paul please contact me regarding this matter. On November 11,2019 I took my car to AutoPro 1670 A. Redwood Ave. Grants Pass, OR to have the front…read moretires aligned. I chose to wait while the service was being preformed, after about an hour Rick (owner) handed the car keys back and inform me it was done; I paid for the service and left (at no time did Rick say it would need additional work). On the drive home from AuotPro I noticed the car was pulling too the left, next day (11/12) I went back to AutoPro, I informed Rick that the car was pulling to the left, at this time I ask for a print out of the alignment from the day before (which they had thrown away). Rick put the car on the rack and informed me why it couldn't be aligned, now a day later it needs a new Camber bolt, additional cost $100.00 and he won't charge me to re-align the tires (which he was supposed to have done the previous day). I took the printout of the alignment AutoPro had given me showing the work completed by them to Les Schwab, without me saying anything I was told that's not aligned "it's pulling to the left correct". I went back to AutoPro informed Rick that the car wasn't within specs (he argued for awhile) finally he said "I did the best I could do without that Camber bolt". I told Rick, he let me drive out of there thinking the car was aligned, now when I come back, you want me to spend another $100.00 to do what you where paid to do already. If he (Rick) told me on the first day he couldn't do it without that bolt ($100 more) which by the way only cost $25. I probably would have been okay with it. The fact that he let me drive away thinking I got what I paid for, to find out I didn't by another shop; then he wants me to pay more is unacceptable. Not once did he offer to pay back the $49.95 which I paid for the alignment. My car still needs to be aligned, just an FYI it won't be done at AutoPro. It makes me think that because I'm a women I'm an easy target, be careful folks. PS if I could make a negative rating I would.
