I had driven by HR Automotive many times on my way to another business for the last several years but never stopped in. When my Honda Pilot suddenly experienced rough running as it had in the last couple of years and I couldn't even get into the dealer service for a week and would have to leave the car for up to a week, I called HR. I talked to Chris on the phone and described my problem, he said to bring it right in and he would run a quick diagnostic check on it. I was very impressed by Chris' knowledge and trouble shooting capabilities when he solved the problem in a matter of 15 minutes. I originally went to Chris with a noisy clanging front end which he rebuilt at a very reasonable cost( l expected it to cost more). I asked him if he could fix the dashboard turn signal indicator but he told me they not replaceable---but hold on---he found after market indicators on ebay and put those in.Took him 30 minutes. Then I tried him on the odd little mis that was intermittent, it seemed to come and go. He traced it down to a week coil. This man is a Honda wizard with a warm friendly manor. This husband and wife owned shop has been amazing to work with! To anyone just traveling through Medford and need some trustworthy work done on you're vehicle, without being taken advantage of, look no further, this is the place to go. The mechanic really knows his stuff and does a phenomenal job. He really listens and is willing to go through things with you to figure out the root of the vehicles problem. He never over charges, nor does he try to sell you on stuff that you don't need. I am a complete novice when it comes to engines and I know he never uphold me on anything that my car "might have needed." Bob is a great mechanic and great guy. I flew in to Medford to buy an S2000, which was a one owner car and advertised as being in excellent condition. I took it to HR Automotive for an inspection, and Bob told me the issues I found and was worried about weren't that big of a deal, however he found some hidden engine issues which were concerning enough that I passed on the car, likely saving me $4000-$5000 for an engine replacement if I would have bought it. Bob is a straight shooter type and you're not hived off in a waiting room, you're in the same room as his lift while he works on/inspects your car. He was a Honda dealer mechanic for a long time before opening his own shop, exactly the type of guy you want working on your Honda to avoid the stealership rates and inexperienced mechanics. He's also got a beautiful and friendly great dane who quickly warmed up to me and made me a bit sad when I had to leave. I can't recommend his shop highly enough! read more

I brought my teenage son's Prelude here after it died in the middle of the night. Bob and Debbie were incredibly understanding and after diagnosing (at no charge) the need for a new clutch they allowed us to keep the car there for a little while while we figured out our game plan. I had a couple small things to fix on my car and Bob had the best price, so that was my first positive experience. Since he did a good job and came in under budget I brought my car back for a BIG fix (blown head gasket and intermittent starter problems) and, again, he quoted a price way below the other estimates. I wanted to wait on getting it fixed so he told me how to nurse it along until I had the funds, he was totally low pressure and helpful. What he told me to do worked and when I had the funds and time I brought it in. Not only did he fix the problems in under a week (it had to go to a machine shop, so I was expecting it to take longer) it runs like a champ now.
