Jessica's Organic farm market is set up as a market stall next to some farmland. There's parking right next to the stall, and you get the vibe of a small town hippy commune. The folks that work there are friendly and passionate about organic produce. Produce will vary depending on the day and time as well as time of the year -- for example Spring and fall are usually the most abundant times. They often have a large selection of vegetables ranging from potatoes and beets, a selection of lettuce, arugula, sunflower sprouts, and much more. All of their produce is certified organic. They also have a selection of refrigerated items including raw milk and cheese, and pickled vegetables. I wish they had local eggs (apparently they sometimes do but I have not seen them). Yes, prices are higher than almost anywhere else, but you're also supporting very LOCAL and organic farming. read more

I've come to realize and accept (now with open arms) my role in the YELPisphere - one of unique opinions and peculiarities, cringing at many fivers and quietly applauding the singles. However, this roll again the tide in no way, shape or form seasons my thoughts to go against just to go against - yet there is little balance in the force because as we all know, everything should be five star, right? Here's a fine example to illustrate: four and a half, I'll save myself the agony of reading why for now - but I sense that any flows against flowers or voice against veges is pure heresy. So here goes it. A sweet happy curbside sign masks undertones of grumps, clad in Wizard of Oz meets Lemmony Snickers sleep over wear - eyes that are empty arrogant - and no time nor desire to respond to a question regarding the supply of prepared foods, which was why I was there and ready to drop a hundo. I'm not there for the dark poorly cut cardboard condo maze that covers the produce which I feel kinda sorry for, ya know, having those described folks loving (sic) hands upon them. Yet I still managed to slowly slide my hand against my true will into my pocket for a tip. My assumption of repacked and outsourced (2 outta 3) items that cost just south of a fifty, I felt and still remain feeing hoodwinked and forlorn. There is no joy here - upon my release of the poor energy, I made haste to an open field to reset my vibrations that took a tangle that was unbefitting of what I thought this was supposed to be. read more

Ever since my wife and I moved to Sarasota, Jessica's has been our go to place for all of our produce. I absolutely love the vibe going on here. Only organic produce (mostly grown on site!) and a variety of new items added weekly- it's always fun to see if they'll have a new homemade soup or dressing to try out! If you are looking for THE BEST place to buy food in Sarasota and its surrounding areas, look no further than Jessica's. It's about a half hour drive for me, but it's something I always look forward to. The staff are lovely and very friendly and knowledgeable and I've never experienced anything below a five star experience here. The prices on everything I find to be EXTREMELY fair and for the quality of goods, I think every dollar spent here is beyond worth it! When grocery shopping went sideways in 2020, Jessica's was there, fresh as always. So many great products- one of the only places in town to get raw milk. Produce is stellar, and the spices, nuts, and other staple products are locally sourced and delicious! Only great food is to be found here! read more

Have not been there in a while, but went today, yes prices are now very high for "some of the vegetables", but let's take organic collard greens for example, Whole Foods is selling a small bunch for ~$3 for maybe 1/2 a pound?, so Jessica's price per pound may be about equal to Whole Foods, Now they do have a bargain bin, two actually, and I got a deal on some veggies that were still good but would not be good in a couple of days if unrefrigerated. They definitely got hit hard by Ian, lost all their nurseries, maybe that is why I saw some fallow fields. read more

Visiting Jessica's Organic Farm is a must for me and my family. It is one of our most favorite things to do every weekend before we go relaxing or playing at the beach, or working! The produce and other food products are always fresh, delicious and absolutely the best quality! We also love saying hello to all the great folks who work there so hard. They are personable, friendly, and just make the experience of food shopping that much more enjoyable than going to a big store. Sometimes my kids and I walk over to the food forest to enjoy looking at Nature's gifts and see how the food is grown, and what it looks like coming out of the earth. It's definitely a great experience to connect to the food source this way! I highly recommend to everyone to consider supporting this local farm and shop mainly from there. We've been buying high quality organic produce from Jessica's for years. Most of the veggies are grown right there on the farm, without chemical fertilizers or toxic insect control sprays. You can see and taste the difference in their arugula, kale, romaine, spinach, salad bowl, sprouts, beets, etc. They also offer organic veggies, eggs, honey, milk and butter from other local sources. A typical visit for the two of us costs about $50, which may seem like a lot for greens but they'll last for 2 weeks. That's only about $2 each per meal for a lot of healthy eating. I visited Jessica's with my in-laws during a visit to see them, and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of offerings! The different types of lettuces alone was wonderful, and they were incredibly delicious once we got them home to eat. I liked that you could see their fields of produce growing off to the side, but was surprised to see fruits and vegetables stickered from your usual companies, such as Chiquita bananas. I'm guessing they are trying to provide a well-rounded supply of produce so their customers don't have to stop at another store to pick up other things, but it threw me off a little bit. Overall, I think Jessica's is a nice change of pace from your usual Whole Foods or Trader Joes. read more

This place is a Sarasota staple. I've been coming here for 15 years and hold this farm alone responsible for teaching me how amazing and delicious fresh vegetables straight from the ground can taste. Bill, the owner, has a passion for organic agriculture that extends to a desire to influence his community into a healthier, less toxic place. I can say that, at least with me, his passion rubbed off and everywhere I have lived since Sarasota, I am always looking for vegetables of this caliber. The only place I found like this is in the capital of organic foods in the farmer's markets in Santa Cruz and San Francisco. His specialties include (not limited to) amazing arugula, dandelion greens, spinach, fresh dill, parsley, collards, and turnips that are so sweet that you can almost eat them like apples. I have turned many people who purportedly dislike vegetables into vegetable lovers after making salads from places like this. Over the years, he has extended the collection to include veggies and some dairy products from other farms to help his customers not have to go to so many places. I'm guessing that the disappointed yelp reviewer below did not go during their peak growing season. It's difficult to grow much in FL in the summer. Check their website to see what is fresh and in season before making a long trek. As for me, I will drive the 30 minutes weekly as long as I am in the area. read more

After reading a pretty rough review, I wasn't sure what to expect. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge selection of all organic fruits and vegetables. I did not think that they were overpriced and there was much more selection then you can find a grocery store. Most of the greens and herbs were all locally grown along with some other items. They do close on May 31 though and do not reopen until the fall. read more

I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed... I soooo looked forward to visiting Jessica's after all the reviews I read but when I got there on Sunday 6/11/17 about 1pm I just was not impressed. I realize they were 'out of season' and most of it was 'brought in' but the prices... holy cow! Super expensive and not much to choose from anyway. I had been to Jessica's about seven times and I was happy with the produce until my last experience. I was told that 2016 was the first summer the stand was open, so maybe that had something to do with the quality of the produce. We purchased quite a few fruits and veggies that were good and tasty. However, the watermelon we bought was so ripe on the inside that it was rotting. We also purchased a flat of sprouts. It was not until I brought it into my house and took a snip out of it that I realized it was infested with hundreds of gnats. But the biggest turn-off was at the checkout counter: the cashier told me that she and her roommate were growing the mushrooms (for sale with the rest of the produce) in their apartment on bricks. YIKES! I don't think much nutrition can be derived from bricks -- not exactly organic! Is there any quality control at this place? read more

I'm not sure if I managed to drive to a different location than the other reviewers or possibly the local economy has resulted in a massive downturn in the quality of this business but I was very disappointed. I drove 50 minutes from St. Petersburg hoping to find a magnificent farm stand with local produce, greens and bulk grains, exactly what is claimed on the website. Aside from the general dilapidation of the location, I was severely unimpressed with the selection of greens and fruit. I counted about 5 options for greens grown at the farm, the rest of the produce was stickered from other states, other countries, and some even still packaged in plastic. The "bulk" grains were packaged in large ziploc bags with a "packaged by Jessica's" sticker on them. Since it was obvious that they did not originate from the farm, I was not convinced that the grains did not originate from either a grocery store or online purchase. If I wanted to pay for overpriced, trucked in produce from who knows where, I'd go to Publix. The entire point of purchasing from a farm stand is to avoid contributing to the footprint that buying non-local, out of season produce, packaged in harmful plastic, and shipped around the world creates. I will not be making the return trip, and would not recommend that anyone purchase from this stand unless your purchase only includes the produce grown directly on the farm. read more
