We stopped in here for a tasting and were able to try several different types of wine. I started it off with a Chardonnay that I really enjoyed. Grant was the one helping us and we really enjoyed him. He was very knowledgeable, and chatted with us for a while and he even went and grabbed a Syrah from the shelf for me to try even though it wasn't on our tasting list. His level of guest service exceeded my expectations. Also the wine comes complimented with an assortment of cheese, crackers, chocolate, and nuts to help clean your palate. Altogether this is a really great place. They have wonderful artwork on the walls, and a knowledgeable staff. I look forward to coming here again. read more

I finally went on my first Napa wine tour this past weekend. It's been a long time coming, since I only live an hour away. This place was our fourth stop as far as tastings go. We were pressed for time, due to a lunch reservation, and we had to come back after lunch. We had to come back because the FREE tasting ended up being 17 wines long...sevenTEEN! We spent well over an hour here, and for good reason! Our pourer (his name was Bay) was fantastic. Loads of personality, funny, entertaining, and informative. Even when we came back and they were packed, he went out of his way to pour us the last of our flight. On top of the service, complimentary tasting, and lengthy selection, this place was the best winery I went to this weekend overall. By the time we got to the ports, I couldn't decide which of three wines to buy. Now I'm not crazy about ports, but the last wine I tasted was a Cabernet port. $49 for a 375 mL bottle. One sip in, however, and I was sold. I had to be talked down from buying two bottles. I can't wait for an appropriate occasion to open it. BEST port I've ever had. read more

No stars to a half if I could So it was Saturday at 3, busy but crazy our pourer was very slow non humorous, I even told her it was our birthday! We tasted 2 wines (average at best) and had to pay full price!!! Not like we tasted 2 and dumped out the rest, we only tasted 2! And had to pay! Yes I admit we were in a hurry but they knew that from the start, they should've just said "sorry we can't accommodate you" and we would've been on our way. While in Napa recovering from the Napa-Sonoma Half Marathon, we were sent to Jessup by the proprietors of Arbor Guest House B&B. The owners of the B&B are wine club members at Jessup and frequently send guests there. In fact, good friends of ours had been two days before and had a wonderful time, tasting something like 10 wines, and buying their flagship Merlot blend We were seated promptly with a reservation called in by Arbor Guest House, and were taken care of by JC. At least that was the plan. Unlike our friends, who tasted 10 different wines, or the table literally next to us, whose host stayed with them and brought out several additional wines off the tasting menu (we know that they tasted the Petite Syrah and the Port), we were only served the wines on the tasting menu, but in such a way that we felt like second-class citizens. Between pours our host ignored us for 10-15 minutes at a time, such that we literally almost left midstream because our glasses were empty and we were bored. I know this is a first world problem, but having tasted at a number of other comparable places, where we at least got reasonably personal attention and neither got ignored nor left to feel like we were missing out on the experience, the treatment we got at Jessup was adequate, at best. Under these circumstances, I would never buy any of their wines, which were outrageously priced, and I would never recommend the place to any of my friends. Completely disappointing tasting experience, and given the quality and volume of producers within a short drive of Jessup, I'd recommend that you not waste your time with the sub-par service and quality of wine. read more

Jessup Cellars tasting room is conveniently located in downtown Yountville, where there are many shops and restaurants, great for strolling on a warm Napa Valley day. The only down side is that if you're looking for sprawling scenic vineyards, you won't find them here. The hospitality at the tasting room is 5 stars for sure. They are both friendly and knowledgeable. They love dogs too, so bring your best friend along. All of their wines are excellent. They've succeeded in converting me to a red lover. They have a nice port, and chocolate port sauce as well. I enjoyed them so much that I joined their wine club. read more

I suggested checking out Jessup Cellars for my coworker's birthday Napa trip, based on a friend's review.. hello Drue! This was the last stop of our Napa tour, and luckily we made last minute reservations. It was a nice change of pace to go to a tasting room instead of a full on vineyard. It's a cute storefront; the space was cozy and packed at 4:30pm, so we knew we were in for a treat.They had a table ready for us in a more private area away from the counter front area, and there was a nice spread of delicious cheeses, crackers, and nuts. We found out some of the cheeses were from TJ's. That's a win win in my book, when I find something I like, and it's easily accessible. My favorites were the Sauv Blanc, Cab, and Manny's Blend. I ended up with two bottles, one of the Sauv Blanc, and Manny's Blend. They're not cheap, but they're not ridiculous either. Still you can easily spend way too much. Jessups is a small boutique winery that does not sell in stores or wholesale- so if you want their wine you have to deal with them directly. Tracy was very knowledgeable and took her time answering all of our questions. They had cheeses, crackers and chocolates to compliment the wines. The wine is fantastic- especially the Table for 4. I'm going to be flat out honest, I am a dummy when it comes to wines. Of course I like to pretend I know a lot, but the truth is, I can only distinguish the difference between red and white. Hmm. What I can say? I do know, however, that my pallets always seem to be attracted to the spicy taste of a nice glass of Zinfandel and that I prefer red wine over white. Jessup Cellar was my first in the whole wine tasting experience. I was a tad intimidated as I entered the beautiful tasting room because I didn't know what to expect or how the whole tasting process works. Of course I stood by a group of "wine snobs", the couples that know their wines to a tee. They would swirl their glasses, smell it, do some other ritualistic things to better absorb the taste or what not, and then shared their tasting experience with one another for what seemed like an eternity. Normally after a taste, you'd get a, "this taste a bit too dry for me" or the occasional, "wow. this is my kind of wine" out of me. With the "wine snobs" to my right, I heard about 15 minutes of conversation about just one specific glass of wine. I admit that I was bitter standing near them because I was impressed with their knowledge. As far as the service, we warned them that we were novices. The lady that assisted us (I feel bad for not remembering her name) made our experience better than I expected. She taught us a tremendous amount of interesting information and was very personable, unlike most of the other tasting rooms we experienced during our getaway. We left with a nice bottle of Zin and with enough information to atleast pretend we know a lot about wine. +5, I highly recommend coming here. Did I mention that the tasting is free? read more

My boyfriend planned a spontaneous wine tasting trip and our host is named Laurel. Ask for her when you come. She's amazing. Great vibes, super upbeat, and very knowledgeable about wine. She takes the time to check in and see if we want our space and drink or if she should keep talking about the current wine we are tasting which is really appreciated because a lot of spots don't. Personally, we loved her explanations and asked her to keep talking while we drank. We had a great experience with her and this was a great first outing since covid started. She also was very personable asking us questions about our lives and vice versa. It was a very elegant home type of feel. The cheese & wine pairings were perfect. A little place that packs a big punch! The servers all have lots of character and seem very interested in the wines and helping you find just the right one to take home, like a pet adoption center. So the service really makes the difference here. The tasting bar is L shaped, which really facilitates a warm, conversational atmosphere that doesn't feel forced. A really nice, if expensive, wine tasting experience. I'm a huge cab fan and a huge port fan, and they've got a few different ones of each to try - and a cab port or two on top of that. Of course, their famous red wine is "table for four" which as you might guess is a blend of four varietals. I don't know if it's on purpose or on accident that in the sequence of tasting this one magically seemed to just be a home run compared with the others... but of course it was and of course it was the expensive one (to me at least). Enjoying a glass of Chardonnay as we speak..... there is a reason that Jessup's has a 4.5 star rating. We didn't actually go to the tasting room rather one of the reps came to our inn where we were staying. We literally checked in and sat down at the tasting. We were wowed by every single wine we tasted. I am not usually a Chardonnay person but this wine is not too oaky or buttery, it's right in the middle. The Table For Four was amazing as well as the 100% single vineyard cab. The port was delicious too. This was one of only 2 wine clubs we joined out of the 10+ vineyards we went to. The person who led the tasting was great too, really knowledgeable and had great stories to share. If you are in Napa you MUST go to a tasting. read more

I went to Jessup for a friend's birthday celebration recently. Her parents were wine club members and set up a tasting in the gallery, which came with (amazing) cheese, nuts, bread, and chocolate. Our tasting server, JC, was so great! He was funny, laid back, and full of wine knowledge. I'm no novice and he impressed me with quite a few facts about both Jessup and wine in general. The decor is great, featuring artwork and sculptures, all which change regularly. I loved that there was both a wine bar area and a seated area, so you have options depending on your group. Feels like a great place for a gathering (Christmas party, art show, reception, etc.). The wine was great, too! Can't wait to bring more friends here! read more

This was my first time tasting in Napa Valley, and they made me feel so welcome! Carlos was our wine educator, and he was so knowledgeable and friendly. We went here as a group for my birthday, and were surprised to find our table decked out with cheese and chocolates! Cheese and wine pairings are the best. There are two amazing wines you have to try. Table for Four is the best they have in my humble opinion. It is well balanced and after a taste you want an entire glass. I just wish the price wasn't so high. I also love the zin, port and the Juel. There are two other great things about this spot. I was not disappointed! My friend had recommended I visit Jessup Cellars, since it had been one of her favorite vineyards in Napa. She mentioned something about a port chocolate sauce and I was hooked! When we arrived at Jessup, it was half an hour before closing. The staff was very friendly and said to join the bar and they would make sure we would have the tasting. The tasting was $20 [and you can also share] but waved with purchase. The bartender was amazing, she was very fun and knowledgeable of the wines. We had a wonderful time there and enjoyed most of their wines. Then there was the Chocolate Port Sauce... oh me, oh my! Overall, I had a really positive experience here! It was my first time going wine tasting in Napa so I didn't really know what to expect. This was a good place to start though because of it's atmosphere. It's a small place with just one bar area to serve wine but many people to serve you. You can take your wine glass and walk around. You can observe art and even sit at a quiet table with a few friends. It's a very classy and friendly atmosphere. As for the wine tasting, it's $20 a person for six wines. They started us off with a sauvignon blanc and the rest were various types of red wines, all ranging from $28-$68 in price for one bottle. They also offer some chocolate and crackers for your tasting. If you buy a bottle of wine, your wine tasting fee is waived. We ended up getting a bottle of sauvignon blanc for $28 to waive one of our tasting fees. It was really light and will be perfect for a wine and cheese night with my girls for a girls night in! read more

I think food and wine parings are the future of Napa Valley and Jessup is one of the early adopters. Go for the wine and cheese fight (comes with an artisanal cheese for each wine you taste, plus nuts and chocolate). Having food with the wine completely changes the flavor of the wines and can help when you think about what meals you will be having these wines with. It also makes for a more leisurely and enjoyable tasting experience. I appreciate that you can sit down amongst beautiful art to sample the wine and not stand at a bar (which is nice sometimes, but not all the time - sometimes you just want to sit and relax). Coming to the snooty hoot that is Yountville, I wanted to get a little look down their main road and taste some of their world reknowned wines. All this before heading to the overpacked Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa. Jessup Cellars was at the top of the list, and I wanted to figure out why. While parking was rather easy down the street, I came up to find this place to find a small tasting room bar and two cocktail tables ready for anyone to explore their small and short menu of rotating wines. They had a decent sized side room with tables for those wishing to purchase and then grab a seat away. I found help only after bothering someone at the table, which took more than I think it should. I noted this was because of the much slower and purposeful nature the gentlemen took to explain the different wines. While I had wished this service response was shorter, I finally flagged Mason who was able to help. I told him that I was in a hurry and didn't have much time other than to sample a few, but that I was really looking to purchase a few wines. Mason let me know that I didn't have to do a full tasting since I was looking to purchase, which was both a savings and a relief. I had a few to sample and went with the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc ($30/bottle) and a 2014 Pinot Noir Los Caneros for storing ($49/bottle). I the Sauvignon was extremely refreshing, ready to drink, and far better than what one could find locally for the price. It was crisp, fruity, and could be stored up to 2 years. The Pinot wasn't incredibly bold, which I appreciated. Rather it was balanced and to my thoughts, would do well for a little longer in a cellar. Upon questioning, it was suggested that I use it within the year. Pinot could do well for me this holiday season, but it all depends on tastes. Uh oh, I'm sounding like an adult. I was happy and on my way rather quickly, and appreciated that Mason gave me the run down on how to store them, how long I could ideally store each one, and didn't oversell me on their other services such as events. This place was fantastic. Our host (grr, can't remember his name) couldn't have been more hospitable or knowledgeable about wines. He was also very patient in explaining everything to a wine novice like me! Most importantly, though, the wines were all out-of-this-world good. I'll single out their Port for special recognition. I had only tried Port a few times before visiting Jessup and have been hesitant to go back to it because of how sweet it can be. Jessup's Port, however, had the perfect level of sweetness. I gladly bought a bottle and am saving it for a special occasion. The cheese and crackers that they serve with the wines also make this place special. All the cheeses were great but I especially couldn't stop eating the white cheddar. As much as I loved it here, I'm not sure I would come back. Unlike a lot of other wineries, it's located in town so the amazing experience at Jessup doesn't come with the breathtaking views that you get out in the vineyards. With that said, Yountville is a charming little community and there's absolutely nothing wrong with Jessup's surroundings...you're just that spoiled with so many options out in this beautiful part of Northern California. read more

My friends and I booked it to Jessup after an uncomfortable experience at another tasting where the staff were obviously following a script and didn't seem free to be themselves. When we got to Jessup, we stood at the bar and were greeted immediately by people who genuinely seem happy at their work. Several jokes were cracked, large pours were given, and the workers each had their respective personalities intact. If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, great prices, and chatty but not helicoptering staff, Jessup is a great choice. For lovers of red wine, this place is as good as it gets. The BF and I are spoiled 20-somethings...His mom is a Wine Club member at some of the best wineries in Napa, and she knows that the best way to lure her son to come visit is to offer him & his girlfriend free booze and snacks... Our recent private tasting at Jessup Cellars was yet another lovely treat to add to my future book titled, "Reasons why I might marry my boyfriend's mom instead of him if it ever becomes legal"......the title is a work in progress. Anyway, I digress. We had a private tasting with Christina, who was fantastic. She knew just which snacks (we were offered crackers, cheeses, chocolate, nuts & olives) to pair with which wines to make them shine, and was friendly and knowledgeable. My dad, who is normally not fond of red wine, was with us and he is now a believer after tasting Jessup's great selection. In a moment of role-reversal, I decided the Cab was my choice to bring home, while my boyfriend preferred the Pinot Noir...and we chose a bottle of the sweet Manny's Blend for something right in the middle.
