This is one of those places where your taste buds collide. Some people really like it, others don't. I fall in the "others don't" category. Maybe my taste isn't as refined as others, I don't know. But in any case, the service was great, and they give you chocolate for the port, which was ok (the port, not the chocolate, chocolate is always good). We came here because my bf's cousin recommended the place and made accommodations and everything for us because he's a regular/VIP/or something. Due to traffic we were running about 15-20 min late so we called and said we'd be late. I was told that then we'd have to do a rush tasting because we had a party waiting after us. (which is fine, it was our fault we didnt leave earlier). When we got to Jessup, we were ushered into a separate room (and I am thankful because it got REALLY crowded and LOUD in the main room. We were given a plate full of nuts, chocolates, cheese, crackers, etc and we started on our tasting. I really regret that I dont remember the lady who helped us with our tasting because she was really nice. Out of all the wineries we went to that day, she was the most personable and never made us feel rushed. She really took the time to get to know us, told us what snack to eat with different wines and taught us a lot about wine. We actually finished on time so she gave us another tasting of Mannys Blood which my bf really enjoyed and ended up buying! (Tasting is waived if you buy a bottle) The only downside was that the place is really small unless you get the hookup and therefore entrance into more private rooms. We were driving up 29, and saw a sign for a Visitor's Center in Yountville. Since Vistor's Center ='s coupons, I made hubby stop to check it out. When we got to the visitor's center, we realized everything in town was closed, due to a street fair for the Mustard Festival. They had a Taste of Yountville, where you pay tickets,and get to try all kinds of foods from fine dining places such as Bottega, etc. At the visitor's center, we were able to grab a magazine that had free wine tastings for Jessup Cellars. They were the ONLY coupon in the whole magazine that offerred free tastings, and they were within walking distance from where the Taste of Yountville was taking place. Walking in, everyone was super friendly, and even though we used the coupon, looked really young, and had tattoos showing, they did not treat us any differently. They gave us generous pours of ALL of their wines. I must have tasted 17 wines there, and they were all excellent. They do not sell their wines anywhere except for at the winery, no restaurants, etc. This was the best wine we tasted while we were in Napa. Hubby even bought a bottle as a gift for a homie. :) Next time I'm in Napa, for sure I have to make a stop here. :) read more

We joined Jessup a few years ago while enjoying a free tasting with our Priority Wine Pass. Kerry poured for us and his eagerness to teach us about wine and the amazing club description sealed the deal (still waiting to borrow the company jet). Since joining, we have come to do a tasting at least every three months, but sometimes more frequently when we have friends in town. A few of our friends have joined as a result of joining us on tastings because they all witness the amazing hospitality at Jessup. Their employees are passionate, and you can tell they are treated well, love their job, and the wines they are promoting. Plus, the wine is amazing and that's what we are all here for, right? We love tasting with Aaron, Grant, Laurel and Frederick. They all have great personalities and know a lot about wine and have some amazing recommendations for food and wineries in the area. Wine memberships come and go, and that's how you find out what you like and don't, but our membership at Jessup will last forever. We haven't found a wine we don't like and we love sharing a two hour wine and cheese tasting with our friends and the wonderful staff. 4 of us went to Napa Valley on Saturday and stopped by Jessup based on the positive Yelp reviews. No reservation. Brought some free tasting passes we found online, but was told when we walked in that we wouldn't have been charged anyway. They brought us to a private room, all sat around a table with our Sommelier Bob at the head. They brought out two trays of cheeses (a bleu, a double creme, and a sharp cheddar), crackers, olives, nuts, and dark chocolate. All nice stuff. Then sampled at least 6 different wines (possibly more?). Wines ranged from good to terrific and reasonably priced for Napa. Bob was incredibly nice and made it both a fun and educational experience for us, answered all our questions on wine making, production, etc. He is clearly passionate about wine and wine making, which made it an enjoyable experience for all. We must have spent an hour and a half there. Easily the best wine tasting experience we've ever had (and free). We left with 4 bottles of wine and a bottle of port. read more

Jessup Cellars does make good wine however I don't think their price point is on par with their wine. It's pretty pricey. Nevertheless, we had a nice time here wine tasting. Lots of positives about Jessup. Good location in Yountville, especially if walking off lunch at one of the towns many amazing restaurants. Warm and comfortable tasting room... very much appreciated when walking off lunch in the winter cold! Lastly, I love wine tasting rooms that have dogs. What can I say... I miss my pooches when I'm on vacation. I can't say whether I'd make this tasting room a destination or not but for a quick tasting, it was good. read more

So FUN! (And it's not the wine talking!) Went to Yountville for a day trip and decided to bike ride to different wine tasting places down the road. It's totally awesome. Gets a little harder after you've hit up the fourth place on your list though... Jessup was my second stop. I didn't know much about the winery. I was a little weary until I saw all the people inside. It wasn't your typical quiet, keep-to-yourself wine tasting, this place was alive! Everyone was happy and lively and seemed to be having a good time! When me and the hubby walked in, we were greeted right away! There wasn't any space at the bar to taste, but they assured us a space would open soon and poured us a taste while we waited. Sweet! The man that ended up helping us with our tastings at the bar was great! He was super informative and made the tasting fun! You could really tell he loves his job. And because they had to finish pouring by 6PM (per their permit), he didn't charge us for the tastings because he felt like he was rushing us, even though he wasn't. Normally, wine tastings are $20 per person (about four to five pours), but they'll comp the tastes if you buy a bottle of wine. Their wines are pretty good. I actually liked their red wines more than their white wines, and I'm a white wine drinker! And unlike other wineries, they actually get grapes from different wineries from different areas and combines them. That's why their wines have a unique taste to them. This place is so cool. This past weekend in Sonoma we wondered through a few new wineries that we hadn't tried before and upon making our way to Yountville for the obligatory stop at Bouchon, we found this place- as recommended by Yelp! The tasting room is small but well set-up for each group to have a nice experience. They have several rooms and it seemed like several knowledgeable employees to talk about their wine. They blend from about 15 local grapes and have a good selection of tasty wines. We enjoyed some sipping and our "pourmaster" even brought dark chocolates to go with the red wines- yum!! As you sip, you can enjoy some very interesting art, some good; some not so good. A little hidden gem in Yountville by my account and if you like, it's walking distance to Bouchon and right past French Laundry- check it out! read more

Still my favorite place to do wine tasting! Bay was our bartender. He is so hilarious. I came here for my birthday last weekend and he made my whole party laugh, smile, and happy. Bay had everyone he was serving in a good mood. I hope he is the highest paid bartender. I came a year agoish- and I believe he was the same person that served us last time. This tasting room was a blast. We went on halloween and the somm's costume theme was Harry Potter, We also had a baby, and a Friedo Kahlo assisting us. WHAT A GREAT TEAM! They made the tastings so fun and my reason we went was because I had girlfriends visiting for the weekend from Phoenix and one of them had the last name of "Jessup." She loved the surprise. They took SUCH great care of us and made her feel VIP with her namesake and I just want to thank them so much for a great time. Now, how were the wines you ask....AMAZING! Walked out with the Carneros Pinot Noir, their Viognier, and the Chocolate Port sauce, as well as a few corkscrews, tees, and napkins. lol. I can't wait to take the hubby back. This is a tasting room only since their vineyards are all over the county. We got a free tasting thanks to the magazine coupon (be sure to check out any wine magazines in the area before you go anywhere for wine tastings). They have a tasty tasty and spicy zinfandel. I didn't really care for their flagship wine: Table for Four but it's ok, their Zin more than makes up for it. Coincidentally, the zin has an alcohol content of 15.9%. What? Why so high? Visited Jessup due to all the glowing Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. The place is small, but we were lucky enough to get Bay as our pourer and had a fun time. As many have said before, Bay knows his stuff, and enjoys what he does. Our favorite wines included Manny's Blend ($45) and the Yolo County Petite Sirah ($58). I just got back from my first wine tasting in Napa. Of all the four wineries we visited, this was my ABSOLUTE favorite! This is a boutique cellar so it feels more personable with your wine connoisseur guide. We were very lucky enough to have Laurel show us a good time. Laurel was so professional, fun, witty and KNOWLEDGEABLE. Without her, I'm pretty sure the experience wouldn't have been the same. Let me tell you why I love this place: 1) you get to sit down at a table with your group. 2) free wine pairing for 2 with a coupon you can find online that comes with complimentary snacks. 3) you didn't feel like you were being poured drink after drink and that was it and on to the next winery. I don't know about you, but during a wine tasting, I'd like to sit down and really relax and enjoy my glass(es) of wine. I would also love it if the guide could give you information on the process of how the wine is made, why it's unique, what food it should be paired with or if it's just for sipping. Laurel really showed us how it was done. She taught us the proper way to drink wine to really enjoy it. She then told us what type of food to pair the wine with and had us try a specific wine with either chocolate, nuts, cheese(es) or olives. I must say, some wines really pair up amazingly with the cheeses provided (all which you can purchase at a local costco). In a group of 10 girls, we had a lot of questions and Laurel answered them flawlessly. If I had a score card for each answer, you can be sure I'd raise up a "10" for perfect score and clapping after each answer. Compared to the other wineries, the employees were not snobby and they know what they're talking about. Ask for the "slutty" wine. And if that doesn't suit your taste, ask Laurel for the "Sexy" wine. I had a lot of good laughs. So the next time you're wine tasting in Napa, this is a MUST see visit. Don't forget to ask for Laurel! read more

Our first time in Napa, we looked for a place to "get our feet wet." We found Jessup Cellars near our hotel. Upon arriving, a young lady asked if we would be interested in sitting with them (Normally a reservation will get you this wonderful experience, but we got lucky). The room reminded us of tasting rooms we had visited for wedding caterers two years prior! We were introduced to Dan, a silver haired gentleman with a fun disposition. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time to explain the history of the winery, the winemaking terms and philosophies and pretty much anything we could ask. HIGHLY recommended. We made a "no bottle" purchase agreement before visiting any tasting room. We were so impressed and educated that by the end of the tasting we wanted at least two bottles and are considering their club! A heartfelt thanks to Dan. This here is a Grade A winery. Let me tell you why. It all starts with the staff in the tasting room. The staff is super educational, and so friendly. I'm not too familiar with Napa wineries, so I'm not sure if it was a normal price ($10 for 3 tastes, $20 for 5 tastes) but it seemed well worth it, as we were trying some $90+ bottles of wine. They don't skimp either, we are talking some very healthy sized pours. Maybe it was just Kate S. who was pouring for us, but she was just great! We also ran into one of the owners, Vance, who was genuine and personable - thanks Vance for starting our day off right (from Trevor and Alec, the guys on the scooters)!! Now let's talk about some of the wine: 2010 Juel is something you have to have! Like buy it up. I don't care that its kind of expensive (~$90) just taste it, love it, buy it. 2014 Viognier was soo good, come quick while the vintage is still here! I think it was the second favorite, behind the Juel. Other honorable mentions: the 2012 Zinfandel and the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. read more

Jessup, yes! Had a wonderful tasting experience with Bay in the private tasting room. Admission was free for me and Erin because our friends are members of the Jessup wine club. I recommend you pay the price for the attention and fun that lies within. I'd recommend Jessup as a must stop to anyone visiting Napa Valley based on my enjoyment of their wines. If it's your first time in Napa Valley, the only slight downside is that Jessup is a tasting room in town in Yountville so you won't look out the window to see rows and rows of vines within view. They grow their fruit in Napa Valley nearby on their own land but their tasting room is in town. That said if you're coming to Napa Valley to enjoy wine then you will be quite pleased by stopping in here (and even more pleased by booking a reservation for a private tasting). Their wines are very worthy of adding to your private wine collection and aging a year or two. read more

Jessup kicked off our Napa excursion, and it left us amped & pumped up for the rest of the trip! Street parking is available right in front. We walked in with no prior appointment, and was immediately greeted by the staff with big beaming smiles. There is a main standing bar for walk-ins, but also private rooms available for large groups or those wanting to get a lil more intimate at no additional cost if you call in advance. If there is anything to remember about Jessup, it's these three letters: B A Y. He helped us out, and set the standard for what we should expect for a truly great tasting experience. He was friendly, polite, attentive, and full of character. Except for the fact we know we like Muscato, we were downright newbies so it was a little intimidating not knowing a whole lot about the whole wine culture thang....and lo and behold, here comes Mr. Bay to save the day. He was like that cool young uncle when you were a kid who pretty much introduced, taught & guided you to everything new and awesome in the world. So humble, and so helpful, he provided a solid foundation to our wine education. He encouraged us to be honest and share what we felt, while at the same thing providing pointers/tips without being pretentious. We enjoyed his stories, and spent an hour just talking about anything wine related from growing regions, estate wines, local life, wine name origins, ports & sherry, rose, legitimacy of "White zinfandel" and much more. The 5 flight tasting costs $20, can be shared, and is waived when purchasing a bottle. It included their chardonnay (crisp & oaky), and the rest were reds. We particularly enjoyed their signature Table for Four, a blend of Cab, Cab Franc, Merlot & Petite Syrah. It has this smooth silky quality, bold dark cherry taste (hmmmhmm good), but not as full bodied and dry as a 100% cab. The real winner though *ding* *ding* *ding* was the zinfandel port ($38). overall, yes on jessup. ask for bay. pick table for four. pick zinfandel port. enjoy! read more

We really enjoyed ourselves at Jessup Cellars. The staff was friendly and it wasn't crowded at all. It's a small place. The tasting was free and they provide crackers and water for between tasting. We hadn't had lunch yet so I think I might've eaten about 15 crackers. They also gave us chocolate to eat along with the port we tasted. I'm not usually a port fan, but my husband loves it so I gave it a try. The cab port we tasted was AWESOME! We loved the rose as well as a red mix called Table for Four. We bought a bottle of each of those. I didn't like the chardonnay, but I never do. The zin port was also way too sweet, but it's new and we were told "young". Stick to the cab port, rose, and the reds and this place is an awesome stop on a wine tour day. read more

Second's time the charm here. We came here a couple of years ago to taste wines on a Saturday afternoon when we were staying in Yountville and we were pretty much kicked out. The hostess said they were all full, so there was no room for us to taste their wines. A little put off and disappointed, we crossed the street and found Ma(i)sonry, where we were accommodated (despite having no reservation) and got to taste wines in their beautiful garden. Luckily, this time the tasting bar was almost empty and the other rooms were empty as well. Looks like Sunday's the better day to go to this place. You won't be turned away for sure. My sister's friend was with us and belongs to Jessup's wine club, so we were able to skip the tasting fee. Our wine tasting server was friendly and funny, and he gave us generous pours. We chose the red wine flight, and as I was driving, I had to spit out most of the wine. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon that I tasted was a little young. It definitely needs to be aged for a while in your wine fridge. I also tasted the Table for Four which is their flagship wine, and frankly, I did not like it. My husband also did not care for it. We also chose to taste the 2009 Juel which is another blend, and that also did not appeal to our taste buds. Though the port was not on the tasting menu, we asked if we could taste it and the server indulged us happily. Yum. Not sure if we'll be back next time we're in Napa. Right in the middle of Yountville, Ca is Jessup Cellars. It's a great location to walk around, but because it's right in the middle of town, it was CROWDED! I'm not sure if it was just that day or if it's always like that, but it's definitely not the quaint winery where you get great attention from the staff. At the many places in Napa you get such great customer service - meaning they take the time to talk to you and explain all about the wine you are drinking. Here, they basically said the name of the wine they were pouring and that was that. One of my friends had a little bit too much wine and had that boldness of saying it like it is VERY LOUDLY. She mentioned how service here sucked and how disappointed she was. I think one of the staff heard because after that she apologized for the crowd and started being a little more attentive to us. She poured us a wine not on the wine tasting list, and even gave 2 of my friends free tastings. If it weren't for her attempt to make it right I probably would have gave this place 1 stars. I'd like to give this place another try, but with so many other wineries in Napa, I'd likely give a new place a try first. Going with the literal rating of "I've experienced better." read more

This place is dangerous for me to visit, I struggle to resist the temptation to join the wine club, everything is good here, and I always leave with one or two bottles. I usually bring friends from out of town here at then end of a day wine tasting around Napa. Very friendly, no attitude, even if you didn't book ahead. Before you read this. Call and make an appointment. An appointment at Jessup will not only ensure you've got a spot in their tasting room, but it ensures a table, cheese, crackers, nuts and chocolate to enhance your tasting experience. Kim lead us through our tasting, and she was friendly and attentive. We tasted 5 wines, 1 white and 4 reds. The white was crisp and dry, and nice. However, my heart skipped a beat when we got to their Pinot Noir. MMM-MMM-MMM! Their Zinfandel was also lovely and easy on the palatte. The tasting room is small and like the others stated, it doesn't sit on a vast vineyard, but it is bright and lovely and the staff is friendly and warm. There is parking all along this "main" street, which is the most picturerque central artery I've ever seen. The wines range from $39-70, so they aren't cheap, but if you just choose to taste, the fee is $20 (which is waived if you take a bottle home). We joined the club...which is unique in that it offers you the opportunity to select your wines. We bit the bullet and did it. God help us when the bill comes! But luckily we will have a few lovely bottles to drown our broke sorrows! read more

This place was alright. We stood at a corner table and didn't get serviced that well. The wine was tasty though. I'd imagine Jessup being a better experience had we been right at the bar. Just goes to show wine is subjective. I thought the wine here was all sub-par. There wasn't one I would consider purchasing. It probably didn't help that I visited based on the 4.5 rating from Yelp. Lesson learned - don't trust Yelp for wine reviews. Our server seemed tired with her usual sales pitch, and not genuine in the least. However, all the other staff we encountered were friendly and seemed interested in their job. If you really consider yourself a "wino", book yourself an appointment to see one of the closed vineyards that only do private tasting/sales. So there is this cat here named Bay...mind you everyone who works here is a class act and I love talking to all of them...but Bay...Bay is the man here. He is funny, knowledgeable, chill and best of all a party guy...one with manners and who you can tell...loves his work. I actually admire this guy, he is always upbeat and as I said...LOVES his job. He makes wine tasting fun, he teaches you while making you laugh and you feel as if you are in his home and he is having a small party for a group of close friends. Again...everyone I've ever spoken to here are genuinely nice and well informed of the wines that they produce here. Bay just happens to be my go to guy when the little woman and I are in Napa... for sure TRY the Zinfandel or Cab ports...they are simply the best things on the planet (besides mondavis pinot reserve and moscato). My absolute favorite wine and winery! Jessup is all about the experience, making you feel welcome - if you go to one winery while in Yountville, Napa, Northern California, go to Jessup. I've been here at least ten times and am a wine club member. Wines: all very unique in comparison with the countless wineries I've been to. Manny's Blend is hands down my favorite wine any where and Table for Four is not far behind. The Zins (when available) sell out fast and taste amazing. While they are primarily known for their reds, the one white they carry is always delicious whether a Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. Staff: I shamelessly request Bay every single time I go there. From our first visit, he is always entertaining, welcoming, funny and knowledgeable. He has been an excellent host for family and friends that have visited us from out of state. If you ever have the opportunity to taste with Bob he is a master sommelier and will teach you more about wine than you will learn any where else. This is never done in a condescending manner and no matter your level of wine tasting experience, you will come away learning something and actually understanding it - not just nodding your head in agreement. Atmosphere: amazing art on the walls that I can't afford but is still enjoyable to look at. You are never rushed at Jessup, taste at your own pace and spend 20 minutes or two hours and 20 minutes. Stopped by this place because of other Yelp reviews. Parking was easy to find outside and service was immediate once we entered. We tested all 5 wine's on their menu with crackers. Their wine is a bit dry and so the dry crackers made it a bit worse. I felt like I had cotton mouth a bit. I was also a bummed that they didn't rinse out your wine glasses before you had their red wine. I felt like the drinks were a bit mixed, but hey that's just me. I would recommend their 2011 Chardonnay for $32. I was not super impressed with their signature wine "Table for four" for $79, but we all have different palettes. I didn't really learn much about this place until I asked them how this place came to be. The lady pouring our wine was nice, but she didn't really sell the winery or story to me. Overall - I still am unsure why this place is special. However, we did buy 2 bottles. Will try them out and think about popping by again if we fall in Love we them. I would suggest trying this place out in Yountville, since there are not many small boutique wineries in that area. read more

Grant was the one helping us and we really enjoyed him. He was very knowledgeable, and chatted with us for a while and he even went and grabbed a Syrah from the shelf for me to try even though it wasn't on our tasting list. His level of guest service exceeded my expectations. Also the wine comes complimented with an assortment of cheese, crackers, chocolate, and nuts to help clean your palate. We were pressed for time, due to a lunch reservation, and we had to come back after lunch. We had to come back because the FREE tasting ended up being 17 wines long...sevenTEEN! We spent well over an hour here, and for good reason! Our pourer (his name was Bay) was fantastic. Loads of personality, funny, entertaining, and informative. Even when we came back and they were packed, he went out of his way to pour us the last of our flight. On top of the service, complimentary tasting, and lengthy selection, this place was the best winery I went to this weekend overall. By the time we got to the ports, I couldn't decide which of three wines to buy. Now I'm not crazy about ports, but the last wine I tasted was a Cabernet port. $49 for a 375 mL bottle. No stars to a half if I could So it was Saturday at 3, busy but crazy our pourer was very slow non humorous, I even told her it was our birthday! We tasted 2 wines (average at best) and had to pay full price!!! Not like we tasted 2 and dumped out the rest, we only tasted 2! And had to pay! Yes I admit we were in a hurry but they knew that from the start, they should've just said "sorry we can't accommodate you" and we would've been on our way.
