I've been doing business with Yamada Company in Gardena for many, many years, and I honestly feel…read morethey are one of the best companies in the industry. Yamada is a family-owned business that has been passed down through generations, and you can really see the pride they take in serving the community. They have always had great employees, fair and competitive prices, and they are extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable. As a landscaping professional, I've relied on Yamada for pretty much everything--equipment, fertilizers, and advice on the right products and treatments for plants. They've always been willing to take the time to help and make sure I'm using the right products for the job. They serve everyone from professional landscapers to homeowners, and they treat people with the same respect. I truly can't imagine what I would have done without Yamada over the years. I'm very grateful to have had such a dependable, knowledgeable, family-owned company so close by. Thank you to the entire Yamada family and your team for all the years of great service. You guys are truly wonderful! Highly recommended!

He overheard our conversation and kindly advised us that regular mulch bark wouldn't work for orchids, recommending us to go to Yamada Lawn Care in Gardena. I'm so glad we followed his advice, or we would have ended up using the wrong products, yikes! When we visited Yamada, Kenny was incredibly patient and helpful. He took the time to recommend exactly what we needed. We ended up purchasing the orchid bark along with a few other garden supplies.Yamada is a small, family owned shop that seems to be a go-to spot for local gardeners. If you're having trouble with your plants or flowers, I highly recommend stopping by and talk with Kenny. He really knows his stuff and will guide you on how to care for your plants, flowers, or trees. Prices are very reasonable.

Oh, I'm almost afraid to let the word out on this place, since it's an absolute gem…read more Good for: - Bulk (20+ plants,) relatively inexpensive plants of all kinds. Everything from rose bushes and bouganvellia to lavender and Mexican sage. They have palms too. - The independent type who knows exactly what they want (or a really good idea, and can pick alternates easily if they don't have a particular variety.) Not good for: - Someone without a plan of what they need. The place isn't "merchandised" as it would be in a major commercial nursery, and while the guy can tell you if it's good for sun or shade, drought resistant, etc., it's not the kind of place where you go with absolutely no idea of what kinds of plants or ground you want to cover. They have no landscape architects there, and no consultants. You're pretty much on your own. - We re-landscaped our backyard a couple years back and got all of our plants here all in 5 gallon pots for less than $10/each. It had a lot to do with the quantity we bought, since this isn't the place to go for a one-off. You go here for bulk. The Game Plan: - The main entrance is located just east of Studebaker on Wardlow, before you reach the bridge over the river. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it -- it's a quick left turn into the gated lot. The property pretty much runs the length of the river for what has to be miles and miles. - Since they normally cater to commercial landscapers, I recommend driving up, hopping out and enlisting the help of one of the many employees on what to do next. Typically there is one guy with whom you can speak, drive around (there's no walking here; prepare to drive to pick out your own plants and load them into your truck) and then pay. - I took my CR-V, and ended up following my contact in his truck around the one-way road through the nursery while I called out certain kinds of plants I was interested in. - Bring cash, and and open-bed truck. Much of the stuff I bought I had to go back for with a friend's pick-up. Way too big for the CR-V.
